I'm saying this as an owner of a GMT Master II and a fan of Rolex. I went for the 38mm Fifty Fathoms over a Submariner, as it is far superior in every way when viewed in person in terms of finishing. Cameras do not do it justice. It is a stunning watch and more off the beaten path to the Submariners you see quite often.

Blancpain needs to offer more in 38mm. I love their use of brushing in the dial. This model has never been intended to be a technical diver and that’s just fine with me. The 4:30 date window is typically more often a miss than a hit for me. That said, I’ve got an El Primero Revival and aesthetically, it looks great, adds a bit of tension, not the easiest thing to read however. When BP uses this window placement, I think it works better on the smaller offerings, particularly given they use a very small window typically. That’s not going to be for everyone. I usually prefer no date three handers, this look however is part of its DNA. They did a nice job keeping the height down.

I agree, so one arrived 2 days ago from Jomashop on NATO for $7100. I got the grey burst dial in 38 mm. The dial is stunning but in black and white the bezel looks cheap and no lume on Bezel. Blancpain loses 38% value after you step out AD, JLC Polaris drops 33%. If you are looking at dive watch for 10k plus get Submariner. Omega Railmaster drops 50%, $5700 at AD, I got a new one in beautiful Box for $2800. For Blancpain is the AD experience worth $3k when you know exactly what watch you want. A Blancpain AD scoffed at me saying I would wear it as a dress watch. But I will never sell my Bathyscape just cause of the Heritage. If you get a Bathyscape and wear the 43mm I’d get that as the burst will look better. But the lug to lug on 43mm is 52 mm

@@slowboyfuelpump5438 it uses pressure pins that are not like normal pins that require special tools to remove 🤬 I managed to get one out but broke one and inside one pin hole it’s lodged in there, but quick release straps still hold in place. When I wear it out of the house I put it on NATO. Years from now when I get it serviced I’ll have it fixed. Supposedly some AD’s won’t remove them and assist you send it to service center to replace a strap.

Big brands also have the best economies of scaling. They have the capital and machines to mass produce watches for a very cheap price. Small studios have to hire workers to make their watches by hand. Even small companies make watches for a cheaper price than this watch

It doesn’t matter if it’s two ten or ten till two- ever notice how short the hour hand is on ALL dive watches? Divers are reading off the dive bezel using the minute mark. The actual time is not a concern. Good grief.
