This years resolution for me is to be productive (which never happened 😭) and always focus on being better from the last time instead of focusing on straight A's 💗💗

HELP HOW IS IT THURSDAY ALR? I wasted like half of my winter break just sitting on my bed and doom scrolling… I’ve wanted to get up so bad but my butt was like glued there. I wanted to get up and stretch but my subconscious said ‘it’s better to stay here’. Thank you for this ❤

do you realize how much you've driven me with this single video, estella? you changed the whole game with these ones "conscious/subconscious" "tiny change that doesn't trigger my comfort" "making my subconsciousness my partner" & "cheering for myself" as you explained through. the way you put these points was so perfect that it arrowed across my guts. Last year was a total drag down for me. People were judgemental, unsupportive, unappreciative & i almost gave up. I felt like I'm in a cave & afraid of the light but when you talked about starting tiny & cheering myself, i got some courage down my dehydrated soul. i feel green now. i am gonna watch this video whenever i am stuck. It really gave me what i needed. Thanks a lot.

Wow a lot of this actually made so much sense like having the other u say “why cant u do this, why cant u just get up and go” especially this past semester when i had tests, sometimes i would pull an all nighter but not even study like i was supposed to. I felt guilty if i went to sleep but couldnt bring myself to study even though i knew i needed to. I also developed into a chronic “i didnt do well bc i didnt try” type ever since i didnt do as well as i wanted in a class over the start covid and ive been in that rut ever since. The part especially abt the hack to try to reward urself to get urself to do smthg u dont like was like, “no wonder i could never get into the idea of eating a chocolate whenever i get through a chptr in a textbook” and such. But the idea of focusing on liking the actual activity u want to do was such a mind opener

Yep you hit the nail on the head with the cycle of our passions becoming WORK. Happens to me when it comes to writing. We have to see where else in life we've been able to succeed and know we can do our passion, just gotta give ourselves permission to F up and learn cuz that's how anyone gets to the level we want to reach

I’ve never agreed so much in my life especially whole over planning my goals to the point of dreading them and feeling relief when I quit them. Also your video also made me this that I’ve only emphasizing the feels of negativity when I do my bad habits and I talk down to myself but I never or rarely talk positively to myself. Being my own cheerleader will definitely be new to me but I’ll give it try this year! Thank you!!💕

Thank you. Really needed this. Gave me soooo much perspective. Plus the "if you aren't doing it, you don't want it enough" mindset is actually so toxic. Because lord knows how bad I want it, but since I attach so much anxiety to it, my brain just cancels it. I always do feel like I'm in a shell that is impossible to break. This cleared up so much for me you have no idea

According to Islamic philosophy, there are like two selves. And they are battling. So you are right. One is the impulsive self who is not your friend but is the source of every moment you choose self sabotage and do not make choices that lead you to your best self and towards your long term goals. It is the one interested in cravings, short term desires, impulsive behaviour including selfishness, arrogance and anger etc. the other side of you is the self critical rational part, the logical, the self reflective. Human nature is genuinely a battle between these two.

16:34 I remember once I followed one of those online study tips and kept a chocolate bar for me as a reward of finishing a chapter of biology. I never finished the chapter and couldn't wait so long that I finally engulfed the chocolate without giving a dang to study. 💀

I think this was the ONE video I have been needing for years. I know I can achieve a lot - yet even when I achieved those things, I only felt relief that they were over, not actual happiness, because I forced myself through those activities only through pressure and anxiety. After that pressure and anxiety (from school) was gone, I stopped being as productive as before and struggled more than ever with routine and discipline, wondering why when I used to be able to do it all. Only now I realise how prone to over-planning and talking myself-down I have always been. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and wisdom, it's relieving to know I'm not alone in this and that working towards my goals doesn't have to feel hard and painful if done in a smart way. I'll definitely come back to this video as often as I need to remind myself!

Notes and observations: 1. The subconscious mind works like Inside Out (the collection of words, emotions, and memories determine how something is perceived) 2. The subconscious mind operates with the motto "Seek pleasure, avoid pain" and it uses top-down processing (meaning it's automatic and uses general associations to determine how to respond) 3.Words matter - you need to affirm what you want (speak life and praise yourself for doing the thing, minimize the pain of change) and you need to object what you don't want (aka criticize your bad habits/make complacency painful) 4. Surround yourself or your social media feed with people that have qualities/habits/skills you want (like attracts like, you rise to the status of your ingroup). In short, you need to use the subconscious programming to your advantage - you need to consciously change your perspective to succeed. Change your mind, change your life.
