Remember that targeting something in an opponents graveyard commits a crime. So 1:02:11 you could trigger Kaervek with reanimate

I understand it is an Arena Open, but 5000 gems for a shot in the dark card pool, with almost no rewards unless you reach 6 wins seems unfair to me, especially for people who doesn’t have tons of gems.
@yO-xe3ny7 ай бұрын
Yeah, the EV of the Arena opens is terrible. Do not play them unless you are Mythic, and even then, this format for sealed specifically is awful, in my opinion. You will run into insane card pools that are unbeatable.

To be fair if you want to play a real sealed tournament it'll be probably $40 to join

@@swiftdragonrider Don't you win $2000 for winning day 2? And multiple people can win?
@yO-xe3ny7 ай бұрын
@wesleydolsen In paper sealed, you can sell any cards you open afterward, so even if you don't do well, you can at least get something back. And if you went 7 wins in a regular sealed event, you would get much more in prizing than just getting your money back like you do in Arena. Again, the EV is just bad because the likelihood of getting in the cash is so low.

I think Paul underestimated the potential of Raven in his deck. He had plenty of Crime for Kaervek already and that game one showed that Ankle Biter wasn't enough to save him against an aggressive opponent.

Just an fyi, entering the open with coins gives you a discount when you compare it to the draft entry fees (coin to gem ratio). I'm not sure why they do it this way.

This is why I hate sealed is it encourages playing those decks with a manabase that has "no respect for the game of Magic" as Paul says. Just so much more variance than draft.

In the penultimate game, why not discard Selvala, and cast it turn one with reanimate? It would take a while before they could remove it, seems good value.

The worst record to get to day 2 in Bo1 is 7-2. In Bo3, it's 8-3 (4 match wins). Also, at three match wins you get 5k gems and can rebuy (or not). Am I the only one who think the Bo3 option seem a lot more generous?
@haumph7 ай бұрын
yes
@Ittakesawile17 ай бұрын
I think this is a fair point but you aren't taking into account the BO3 aspect. You can go 8-3 (8-4 really). But that is a little misleading because you cannot lose 2 games in a row, so each loss has to be at least every 3rd game, or slightly less than that. If they gave 1 more loss I think it would be way better. But signing up and losing the first match is horrible.
