I have a salt pool. The SWG splits the chlorine out of the salt (sodium chloride). After the chlorine does it's job it recombines with the sodium and just turns back into salt. The water in a salt pool has a much softer feel than regular pools and generally speaking you can run the pool at a lower chlorine level. Also the salt content is much lower than the ocean.

Really don't want the pumps under a shed they produce a lot of heat and need to vent to keep cool. Some will add a wall to keep you from seeing them but most just leave them out in the open.

In our area linered pools and fiberglass pool are our only option as we get too cold for a true concrete or gunite pool.

Left it in rinse for a few minutes to reduce sand dust in pool at start up. Put in recirculate after a few minutes.

When did you realize you had filter on rinse, there is no current in pool from filter with clean water?
@nyamillennial
@nyamillennial 4 ай бұрын
It was intentional. New sand has a lot of dust. If you put straight into recirculate it will put sand dust in the pool with brand new sand. Wanted to reduce the amount with rinse function first.

Just curious. What is the advantage of having salt water as opposed to non-salt water in a swimming pool? Or is it just a personal preference. I know excess chlorine can burn the eyes a little, but it seems that salt water would be worse. Pardon my ignorance. LOL

@@johnunsicker7440 yep that's why our complex converted the pool over to salt water. idiot pool company sent someone that had NO business messing with chlorine one year to adjust the levels when pool was straight chlorine. kid didnt know what he was doing, dumped wrong chemical in the pool. they found him unconscious in the pump room from him pretty much making mustard gas. the pool clouded up, the ph level was way out of wack.

Does the pool have to be drained for the winter?
@harveylong5878
@harveylong5878 4 ай бұрын
depends on where you live. We dont drain the pool at our complex completely. We'll drop the water level 6 - 8 inches below the skimmers before the cover goes on. if the pool company feels like it, they'll add pool rated antifreeze to the system before we shut the water off to the pool, pumps
