I just want to say that I LOVE the fun facts/educational chit chat that Michael adds. I love learning about everything, and to do so while I'm painting is a bonus :) This week, I've learned how to paint a succulent and a sunflower, as well as how to trim my plants (thanks to the apical meristem explanation) and the reason why sunflowers and dandelions produce so many seeds. Thank you so much! :D

A million years ago, I earned a botany concentration with my environmental biology degree. I love all the botany talk!!! Keep the fun facts and Arlo coming!

#1 Arlo is so cute!! His little cameo made my day!! #2 Scotch purple tape is the one that is good for paintings. It’s just like blue tape, only it’s made for delicate surfaces. It is a never torn my paper. And I don’t recall bleeds either... and, of course, it’s a light lavender-thus the purple. 😊

I think you are such a fabulous teacher! I've learned so much from your tutorials about making mistakes, having fun, and experimenting. Through your tutorials I'm closer to discovering my "style" of painting. You're very organized, which I appreciate. Your video person, in this case, Michael, is terrific because the sound and pictures are so clear. Oh, an Arlo is adorable!!!

This was my first LMA tutorial and I had a lot of fun. I signed up for the monthly subscription and can't wait to paint the summer vegetables next. As a working mother and wife, I think it's important to make time for myself and this is my way of doing it. Thank you!

It can be both. A lot depends on the project.

So you know the “cris cros” in the middle of the sunflower. That is actually one big swirl. Also swirls are mathematical, the math term for swirls is Fibonacci. A lot of nature have swirls for example many kinds of flowers but also pinecones.

Please let me know why you couldn’t wash the whole 5x7 with the blue and then add the other colors on top of that. Stupid question even though I know that there are no stupid questions 😳
@mariastrawn58604 жыл бұрын
Watercolor is transparent, so the blue would show through the petals. That's especially true with light tones.
@uptowngirl-jennifer31274 жыл бұрын
You can do this with acrylic paint but not watercolor. I’m just learning this stuff as well. Lol

Hi Honor. Sarah is using Dandelion Paint Co. liquid watercolors. Specifically Azure Blue, Rose Red, Leaf Green, and Tiger Orange. The brushes used in this project are a Round 6 and a Round 2 on Canson 140lb paper.

Off topic, but maybe someone here can help me. I’m a public school teacher looking at doing virtual lessons next year. I love how the LMA videos have an overhead camera as well as a face one, it would be perfect for lessons so my students can also see me. What is that set up called? Is there an affordable way to recreate that? Thank you 😊

I talked with Keenan our cameraman about this for you. This is his reply: Is it going to be live? Or Prerecorded? How many cameras does she have? We use the Sling Studio and that costs $1000 roughly to get started. There are some apps that are free to use, they have changed recently, but to research it google “Free Multicam video streaming app” Hopefully this is helpful.
