I’ve seen quite a few of your tutorials and this is one of my favorites. I may have to watch the last segment where you are adding depth to your petals. I have been doing a series of lotus/water lily flowers and am struggling to find the right shade and depth of gradation of chosen color. Thanks for all of the great advice. Love the interaction between you and Keenan. Waking Ned Devine eas a great movie!

so about the food paintings..... this past weekend I painted a quick and easy cotton candy which made me want to paint a series of "fair food" paintings. I even tried a candy apple. A few more I'd like to try, corn dog, banana split/ice cream sunday, funnel cake, sugar waffles, hot sausage with onions and peppers.... the list goes on. I know that we're getting into fall and winter with the kits but I'd still love the fair food idea.

I’m loving learning how to blend. Still have a long way to go, but this was a great lesson. Florals are my favorite. Oh and for impressionists MONET you were painting water lillies you have to mention Monet - my absolute favorite painter. Since you and Keenan were talking about what types of paintings. It would be great to see more based on impressionists.

With color mixing and undertones, for example the slate blue having purple undertone means if you tried mixing it with a cooler tone yellow, the purple is complimentary to yellow and can make a muddier green (blue+yellow) rather than bright green. Either is fine, i.e. muddier colors are great for landscapes, but a lot of people love the brighter clearer colors, so when you color mix and not getting a color you want, check those undertones.

I used Sap and Hooker's greens and I found them to be a very good fit for the flower. For the petals I used Crimson lake and I mixed some light ochers for the yellow. I really like the result, you can try those and just swatch them and play with the values.
