Yes he also refers to his style as being “stylized” recently. He’s settling into his own signature style which is really cool, even if it’s not strictly realistic. I think it was since his WW1 trench diorama that he started changing his style up. Stuff looks ultra-realistic and vibrant. Whereas real life is kinda dull. I think it’s good. Lots of models from different modellers can look exactly the same because they just go for a strictly realistic look. Having a signature style which looks better than real life is cool. The way he textures the base colours, the way he pin washes, the way he paints cloth and leather and wood, are all really unique and look like they’re out of a comic, even though it still looks realistic.

I'd say there's a big difference between paint chipped off from vehicles abandoned somewhere, where large sections start rusting through and consistent weathering, you'll get big sections entirely flake. But in my experience, rust patterns from wear and tear are quite different. They happen in very small areas around spots where they body (and protective paint) would get damaged or worn frequently, or in corners where water settles in and doesn't get cleaned off with normal use. Just sitting in a field somewhere, the rust will start in more sun and water exposed areas where water pools and sun destroys the paint, and you get the large chunks. So the pattern of rust tells a bit of a story on the life of the vehicle. Was it abandoned? Was it just used hard and not taken care of? Or was it mostly well cared for, but has a little bit around solid dents. You see this on real, cared for military vehicles. Especially those in salty environments.

Love that classic rusty blue paint vibe. Nice work with the stowage as well. I enjoy oil paints because they are more my speed (haha very slow!) they also have a pretty good ability to go from 0-100% opacity since as you mentioned they are not premixed. In some of the areas, it looked like you applied the oils with very little thinner at all. I find that dramatically increases the drying time and it is very rare for me to apply "full opacity" oils at all. I will usually mix in a good bit of thinner and work up the effects from very thin to slightly thicker. It is also much easier for me to wet blend with oils as they are workable for much longer- but I really do like your tip on speckling as that is one of my favorite methods. Recently, I have been watching Rick Lawler use weathering pencils with oils and he can do some pretty interesting effects simultaneously as the mediums do not interact with each other at all. Take care, my friend! I am looking forward to the BIG project

I actually fought in one of these vehicles while serving in Afghanistan and appreciate the details you included in this model. I would suggest adding more wear on the machine gun especially around the heat sinks (ridges around he barrel) as they get a ton of rub while just from everyday wear. Otherwise very beautiful model and one of my favorite video series.

Producing stunning results as always. I was about to say the tarp that was on the seat looked like a T-shirt and that made me realise... you have never put clothes on their own as part of the storage... maybe it could be worth it to make the vehicle look more lived in? I dunno, perhaps some clothes drying on the engine deck, soaked in mud because Hans forgot to take them inside or just torn appart

I like to pain the silver for chipping under the paint and use masking, Then you can rub the overcoats when you're weathering and the paint actually looks like the metal is underneath and the paint edges are raised a little, you can even simulate peeling. Rust goes on afterward as it is a surface effect.

Seems to me like the only part "alive" in this one are the front lights. I guess that's because all the other surfaces have no specularity whatsoever. Everything seems to be matte and while I understand that it's a dusty technical, even in well used and rusty cars you still see some specular highlights and light reflectins from the paint where it's polished precisely because of use (e.g. steering wheel and edges of faux leather seats). I'd say it looks like straight out of Borderlands game. While this kind of painting is perfectly fine for armor, I think giving it maybe some areas of gloss varnish could help a lot. Still, your familiarity with color theory and grasp of artistry is impeccable and the model is as usual (and despite some minor flaws) beautiful.
