Thanks Wayne! Very fun! Wow, the Rebs really had their way at Little Round Top. Just a couple of clarifications for those who have watched. The "Division By Brigade" activation ability means that each Brigade (not unit) in the Division can be given its own Order. Also, the Default Event can only be used by one unit - not one stack of units. Lastly, a unit engaging an enemy unit does not suffer Defensive Fire from that enemy if the enemy is already engaged by another friendly unit. Oh ... and ... that Union artillery unit could be firing at the top of Little Round Top! It could enter at the nearest legal hex on the next Game Turn after it was blocked. It's still within range at that point and could be firing over the intervening trees at the higher ground. So it would be Obscured but the shots could be taken. That might have loosened up the Rebs a bit. Thanks again my friend - very entertaining video.

I like the game mechanic where defensive fire happens right when you engage.

Thank you for your effort. Your videos are making getting into this game really easy for me. I will be setting it on the table during a wargame club meeting quite soon!

I'm glad to hear that Riccardo.

Preparing for my first game. I always enjoy your style, works well for me. Good job. Pretty simple game especially if one has played previous games in the evolution of the family of games.

Good job, nice video. And who among us has ever played a game perfectly on their first try? Probably only I. Not really-not even on my third try. Enjoyed this one!

Haha Jim. I do my best to limit mistakes, but of course a couple always pop up. If I spot them during the editing process I make note of them, otherwise I make note in the comments (or others point them out). Regardless, the videos are fun to make, and hopefully entertaining.

Thanks for showing it off Wayne, really enjoyed the playthrough. Finally getting into ACW - it took me a while... I'll start of with US Civil War from GMT (bit easier), might pick this one up as well but at a price in the UK I'm not yet sure if I want the full thing or just a P&P version. Also, looks like there's no Vassal module yet last time I've checked, so for now it's a solo-only proposition :(
@WayneHansen2 жыл бұрын
There's a Vassal module now! Just letting you know in case you hadn't heard.

I’m not into ACW, but I love FPG and this looks intriguing. I may have to pull the trigger on the restock kickstarter. Great play through, thanks!

Wayne!! Great job man! I hope you do another small scenario! I know you only have so much time to commit per game, but I’m hoping anyway.

Thanks Tom! I could see doing one down the road. Kind of like when I return to some games.

Great video... my only question that I don't see below, is that I thought if you hold a card for later use... you CAN NO LONGER use it for its default effect?

You are correct! A mistake on my part to hold them.

I'd want the game just for the map. However, playing a small, 3 hour action in just under 1 1/2 hours, makes me wonder how playable a larger action would be. But then, I'm a casual gamer, so I'm not the target audience. Thanks for the interesting playthrough.

It's a fantastic game and experience, however it's not really an entry level type of game or system. I would almost maybe start with something like Stonewall's Sword or Thunder in the Ozarks to learn the Blind Swords, which is a very similar system but on a much smaller scale.

@@WayneHansen Thanks for the suggestions. What I really lust after is the game board. I gather that it was his masterpiece. And I do really like that both the attacker and defender roll to determine the performance of their unit, rather than have it decided just by the attacker's role. It makes one more invested in the fate of every unit. Card drawing or chits to activate are... well I started board gaming in the '60's, and prefer just to have at it, realism be damned. I see that it is currently sold out, (already?) so I can avoid temptation.

Thanks Wayne. does solitaire friendly mean you can play one side against the game/cards making some decisions for the other side? I play primarily solo. would you recommend solitaire?
@WayneHansen2 жыл бұрын
Generally speaking a solitaire wargame has an AI or system that controls your opponent. Solitaire friendly, in the case of this game, means you have to play both sides but nothing in the system prevents you from doing so. There is little or no hidden information. And with this system, because you are drawing from a deck for activations and have no idea which side or which units in that side will be activating, gives you a ton of uncertainty that makes it solo very well. To sum up, I only play my games solitaire, and I'd definitely recommend this one for a solo player.
