Thanks so much, Joe! I’m learning the game now and this was so helpful. Great explanations and the best video work as well. Thanks for all the time it took to make this. Much appreciated!

Thank you, Hermann! Thanks for designing a Civil War tactical system which is so elegant, clean, re-playable and with lots of hard decisions and surprises. I love the way cohesion is modeled and the orders system, both which do away with having to use hosts of game markers. Cheers!

Oh yeah! Been waiting for the Stuka Joe treatment for a vid on this game! I haven't even watched the vid yet, but I already know it's going to be a great video! That Rick Barber map with the larger size hexes, just gorgeous! Best Gettysburg map to date for a war game. I was fortunate enough to visit the battlefield last summer for 4 days, and that map is amazingly detailed and accurate! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Rick Barber, Never Forgotten. Hex 2427 looks like maybe that's the hex where General Reynolds was shot & killed?

excellent stream, the command cards present a great sense of FOW command. very interesting. like previous comments the no facing is strange as would have expected that to have aided flank attacks. overall your streams bring these games to life and really want to get.... unfortunately not in europe yet. thanks stuka Joe

True to the real combat of day 1, ( and most other battles) this is a slugfest! Love the activation and the fact you just can't pour troops into an area willy-nilly. Glad I got in on the 2nd edition kickstarter! Nice video!

at 30:25 when the card says to move a group of units... I had thought that mean a SINGLE group of units in a hex that met the criteria of the card... you are moving whole brigades... I think for card clarity it should have said move all brigades that are stacked or adjacent to another brigade.. IMO
@Zakalwe-01 Жыл бұрын
That confused me too. It reads like it might mean a single unit or stack, but later on in the video, a card offers a single hex activation as an option for artillery. It all depends on how the rules define 'Group'. I think the cascading divisional activation shown here is probably right, because the word 'Hex' isn't used to replace 'Group'. This could therefore legitimately mean a 'group of legally adjacent hexes' is intended.

The real question is why do other games at this level of detail expect the army commanders to bother with deciding which way their regiments should face. But facing is taken into account. It’s just that the army commander was not involved in making that decision.

Really appreciate this video! At 23:13 I have a question - why didn’t Tidballs brigade not have -1 CR? It was not adjacent to another unit of the same brigade.
@paulhendricks29834 ай бұрын
Found my error - adjacent to another division unit grants support. Never mind….

At 51:51, Gamble's brigade did not do the Rally step which could have given one of his units a Hasty Works marker?

Good job with the video. How can you tell if two units are engaged? Just that they are adjacent to each other? Do engaged units not have a zone of control? There was a move you made where you went from one zone of control to another of the same unit.
@fredwmanzo85802 жыл бұрын
Yes. Being adjacent is being engaged.

Thanks for this example of play. Was the word "skedaddle" commonly used during the Civil War in place of to run away/retreat?

Joe, do you think its unusual for a game of this scale and period to not model facing and formation? I am sure its still a fun game but that seems strange to me. Great video as always!
@fredwmanzo85802 жыл бұрын
It was felt that as you are playing as the Confederate or Union commanders the direction a brigade would face is a detail below your level of interest. You are Robert E Lee or George Meade, so you will be delegating certain decisions to those beneath you.

@@fredwmanzo8580 Interesting. I did find it funny for example in Joe's playthrough that artillery battery that retreated and then was immediately ready to fire again.
