John Harper is my favorite game creator working today. Blades in the Dark is a masterpiece.

Amen, brother. Simplicity and depth somehow coexisting. But now, I just want a Fast and Furious hack for this game!

No game embraces the team effort a successful RP game needs as well as Blades in the Dark does. Also my favorite system today.

@Jeff G. City of Mist I really only know from this channel's video on the most beautiful RPGs. So I've never actually played it, but I'm looking forward to January, when it is coming to my country. However, CoM is based on the Apocalypse sorta-engine, which also is a very story-focused system. But in direct comparison I would say that the Apocalypse system (and thus City of Mist) is more ... "rule-tight" I would call it and also less sandboxy. While BitD uses its rules to help the group shape their story, CoM uses its rules to govern the group's story. Both aproaches have their merit and I guess it's up to personal preference which one is "better". BitD taylors to those who love to experience the unexpected. CoM taylors to those who like to know what to expect. As for the setting, I imagine CoM as a somewhat more goodguyish, modern version of BitD. Hope actual players of CoM can expand on this, though.

It was so cool seeing Agon being played here. I think in my group it’s the game we’ve played which has had the most shouting from players when they were announcing their dice pools. A definite recommendation for Agon and all of its over the top heroics.

I think I love this. Enough rules that it's not simply a storytelling thing, but not so many that it bogs down the creativity. Also, Matt was on fire (or should that be lightning?).

Who I want to be: Sophia Who I am: Phoebe I imagine Diodotos has earned himself some of those crystal honey lozenges by now. The best part was after Lion Hearted Aristedes delivered his speech, Sophia the Battle Wise followed with a suitable and powerful song. This is how many Māori run their formal meetings, with every man's speech followed by a no less important song sung by the women.

My good friend just gave me this book when I was looking to play a One Piece related game. Some fellow nerds made a One Piece style DLC basically for the book called Seakings. It's such a cool game. My one critique is that the book is a little hard to navigate sometimes. They will introduce a concept in one rule but not fully explain it until like 11 pages later, so you have to go back and forth a lot to learn it. But other than that. it's such a cool concept and I like the voyage mechanic as a way of coming down after a fight

Wheels seems to be blessed by Bastet throughout the event. Is Phoebe's last name Jenkins? And when Phoebe said she still had some lightning in her veins, I was wondered if the rest was Cheese-Whiz. I like this system. Very interesting resolution system.

@@jaednhowlar2359 Because it’s just an exercise in telling some flowery tale about your character. Like fiasco and blades in the dark there’s no actual game here. I’m not saying you have to have a grid and miniatures, but you have to have some way of breaking up an encounter into parts and letting players use their wits and their character’s skills to accomplish something..
