Immortality leads to stagnation and as seen with the Headless Ape and Corrupted Monk's 3rd phase, you lose yourself in the desperation of trying to live forever. Sekiro is such a beautiful game. Much like you, I played it in 2019, didn’t get far, then quit and came back years later. The game is HARD. You have to rewire your brain for it. It can take HOURS before the gameplay clicks. But everyone I’ve talked to who beat the game has agreed that at some point, and it’s different for everyone, something just… clicks. In the middle of battle, you’re floundering, your HP is dropping, your stamina is breaking, and then suddenly everything just… makes sense. In a moment, the beautiful rhythmic motions of parry, dodge, attack all come together. It can be hard to reach that point, lord knows it isn’t for everyone. But there is truly nothing like it once it clicks.

It's what I like to call the Danse Macabre effect. If an action game has great/well-designed combat, there will eventually just come a point when the rhythm of the game will click with the player, and they will enter a perfectly timed Dance Of Death. It's what happened to me with most FromSoft bosses (especially with Elden Ring's main bosses), with the entirety of Sekiro, with Devil May Cry, and most recently with Lies Of P, which is why I praise that game so much: they mastered the Danse Macabre, which is something most other Souls copycats don't usually do. It's amazing.

if you have the time for it, i strongly recommend checking out the vods, even if it's just to skip to the boss fights, because watching the full progression from floundering over and over, to complete mastery of the boss fight, is so rewarding. if you have time to watch only one of these fights, make it Inner Owl (the Owl fight in the burning building); the way he went from getting absolutely dominated, to dominating the fight, is the most satisfying thing i've ever seen. you can see the moment that it clicks for him, and suddenly he's deflecting every blow, dodging at the precise right moment in the correct direction, and attacking relentlessly without fear or hesitation. aside from how enjoyable just watching it is, i personally love hearing him verbalize his thoughts on what he's doing wrong, what he should be trying next, and generally talking aloud his process as he learns the fight, bit by bit, and that tends to get cut from the vids (understandably, the edited video has to condense a LOT and must focus on the most pivotal moments). anyway, just a recommendation! and considering these fights can take an hour or longer, i'd understand if you don't really have the time or inclination, but i figured if you enjoyed the drawn out parts from the edited down video, you might also enjoy the uncut version of the fights, too!

Fun Fact: Owl invented the Mikiri Counter so trying to use a thrust attack on him would understandably end in your loss. Good attention to detail. I love it. Fun Fact #2: The two massive apes you fight, the male gaurdian and the female brown, are actually mates. The gaurdian was infested and lost his sanity, but the female didn't want to leave him. If you kill the gaurdian first, the female gives up on life. Fun Fact #3: The Rejuvinating Waters grant immortality but it also corrupts the being who ingests it. The monks of Senpou Temple turned away from the teachings of Buddha and was seduced by the waters. These waters also caused the immortal centipedes to sprout, furthering the corruption. Fun Fact #4: The Old Dragons of the Tree symbolize Dragonrot and the unnatural use of ressurection. The first few are white beings but then they become old and withered. Much like how dragonrot spreads as more of the power is abused. Sad Fact: Considering the fact that you buy Robert's firecrackers from a Memorial Mob, people who pillage the dead for offerings, means that Robert is dead by the time Sekiro meets the Armored Warrior. This means that the Father is now chasing for the final hope to bring back his dead son, who has died of sickness.
@EE-one-D Жыл бұрын
I'm not completely sure, but I believe armored warrior doesn't know about Robert's death. Robert was used by the monks for experimentation with immortality (he was one of the divine children) under the guise of extending his life, in return the armored warrior defends the temple. By keeping him under the impression Robert is still alive, the monks make sure he keeps protecting their temple.

I love the fact RT actually put this video in his rhythm games playlist

So glad you gave this game another chance! It is always impressive seeing how much people improve over the course of the game. You did really well! Can’t say you don’t have rhythm anymore!

I was in the middle of my first playthrough of this game when he started, by the time i was able to make the first stream he already passed me, this man is not "bad" at the game, he just doubts himself.

That Owl fight is hands down one of the coolest things RT has done, the patience and awareness is INSANE

I'm not sure if he just cut out a lot of the deaths, but from the video he seems to be WAY better at this game than both me and everyone else I've seen play for the first time.

Glad you came back to the game, Its a great experience that I think everyone who's even remotely interested in Soulslikes should try. I get that it can be grueling, as Sword Saint Ishin and Demon of Hatred took an entire week of attempts (each) to beat, but at the end of it all I was happy that I'd played the game. Hope your own experience was the same and that you ultimately walked away from it happier for having completed it.

RT plays Sekiro Pros: He just needs to master one weapon and choose which tool he will mainly use RT plays Sekiro cons: *There are no summonable gang of ghost to help him, just messages to either troll him or attempt make his travels slightly more bearable*

Lovely timing; I just beat Inner Ishin for the first time today, so it's really nice to revisit the road to learning this wonderful game. I was thoroughly entertained the whole way through, Dan! Lovely show!

I recently 100%-ed Sekiro after quitting on the Blazing Bull for 8 months. And I am so glad I came back to it! This game is a masterpiece. It's my all time favorite game!

Buddha. Awesome to see you tackle it. Can't wait to watch you crush the endings and final bosses. Love Isshin so much

As someone with ophidiophobia (the snake one), going through the big snake sneaking level was definitely the most difficult thing I’ve ever had to do in a video game. Had to call a cousin over for moral support.

When I first played this game I was dog crap and I couldn’t defeat the spear mini boss or the shield bandits and now I beaten the game like 3 times in both endings and all curses active with no cheesing the bosses.

I remember when I beat Isshin the Sword Saint the first time, I literally stood up and started crying. To this day I am so proud to have beaten this game. You should be too. My personal favorite from soft game just because of the fucking mountain this game is to climb. Well done sir.
@Creepernom Жыл бұрын
My heart was pounding so fast when I finally beat him. I struggled against him for days upon days until I finally mastered it all and killed him. That was an absolutely incredible moment and one of the most satisfying victories I've ever had in games. Beating Sekiro is absolutely something to be proud of. You can't beat it with just some cheese strategy or by overleveling. You actually have to master combat to finish it.

one of my favorite details about the owl fight is that the spirit owl he summons is _very intentionally_ flying in front of your camera. just another bit of underhanded dealing from The Shinobi
