@BevisFriend20103 жыл бұрын
Such a great tutorial this. I get really easily baffled by the sheer amount of options Re: 'modern synthesis'. I started out with Alchemy. I'm now using version 3 of PIGMENTS. (Freely upgradable if you bought version 1!) I also Love the visuals, it's so easy & quick to edit with a touchscreen & a good midi controller. (I recently bought an Arturia Keylab49 Essentials, which at about £160ish is a great buy for somebody interested in a nice solid hands on machine with a decent quality keybed & plenty of assignables & some decent software) I like using this as a standalone. It's so easy to get perfectly & blissfully lost in it. These guides are fantastically helpful, although it should be pointed out to beginners (like myself) that Arturia built in really helpful tips & walk-throughs to allow you to learn how to use the whole synth, so don't be put off if it seems overwhelming. The interface is exceptionally user friendly and contains a few hidden surprises too. (if you click the right button on certain parameters, you can set more fields). It really is an incredibly powerful multi-synth, capable of such a huge array of sounds. More experienced soft-synth users will no doubt become immediately addicted to this beautiful beast. Thanks again for such helpful tutorials on this & many other quality musical softwares & hardwares. All the best & Kindest regards, Simon.

not sure if anyone else mentioned this but i’m pretty sure the matrix 12 is using pole mixing filters, basically you have the separate outputs of 4 or more lowpass poles and they’re added together in various ratios to produce other filters, like bandpasses, highpasses, and weird stuff. i’m not super familiar with the original but i know there are several eurorack modules at least that have 15 different modes using the same concept
@morgan04 жыл бұрын
most of the way thru this is a section on pole mixing filters, as well as it is a great resource on filter circuits www.soundsemiconductor.com/downloads/AN701.pdf another resource that also explains it well electricdruid.net/multimode-filters-part-2-pole-mixing-filters/

sweet man :) if i can make one suggestion, your synth sound is fairly quiet in the video which makes me turn up the volume higher but then your voice is a little too loud. a good solution to this is to sidechain the pc sound with the mic so you can turn keep it at 100% vol and the compressor will duck the synth everytime you speak. even pure obs can do this stock, and when i discovered this, it helped my videos a lot :)

One question I do have, is it possible to route some of this through midi to control a hardware synth? Like route LFO1 out accomplishing through midi what you could do with semi modular or eurorack. Or out to a midi-CV interface.... If the hardware synth supports changing various parameters through midi that is. I'm sorry I did a google search but keep getting interrupted watching the video.
