So, what can I say about today's episode in relation to the novel? 1:26 It was Yi Ji who suggested consulting the Ma family. There were five brothers. Ma Su was the youngest, and Ma Liang the best. Liu Bei invited him (no cave travel involved), and he devised a plan to secure Jingzhou. Ma Su does also end up working for Liu Bei, but doesn't impress him. One of the last things Liu Bei does before dying is warn Zhuge Liang not to trust Ma Su with anything important. 2:31 Accurate. Ma Liang's advice is to conquer these four districts in a prescribed order. 8:17 Liu Yan...hmm. Okay, there's a Liu Yan introduced in Chapter 1, and a Liu Yan beheaded in Chapter 115 (out of 120), almost certainly not the same guy because he'd be well over a hundred years old by that point. I mentioned back under the first LP that Chinese is a tonal language, and as such characters with identical romanized names may not have identical names in Chinese, such as Zhang Bao the Yellow Scarves leader and Zhang Bao the son of Zhang Fei, or the way "Cao Cao" is not the same "Cao" twice. It might be more clear who this is supposed to be in Chinese. As far as I can find, the closest in the book someone named Liu Yan is mentioned to this part of the game, he's barely mentioned, as the father of Liu Zhang of the western Riverlands (you might remember him romanized as "Liu Zheng" in the first game), and as having his position shifted to protector of Yizhou. He dies of an ulcer. If this is the same as the one from the first chapter, he was introduced as governor of Youzhou. That guy ended up being friendly with the sworn brothers, and had a respectful conversation with Guan Yu during the latter's retreat from Cao Cao. It's a mystery to me why he would attack Liu Bei's army in a cave in southern Jingzhou. 10:30 Guan Yu is Guan Ping's adoptive father. Even though Guan Ping is an adult whose biological father is still alive. I am confident this makes perfect sense under Confucianism. 11:36 Ooooh, almost. He actually advises going in the order Lingling, Wuling, Guiyang, Changsha. I find it bizarre they would replicate this part so closely but then shuffle the middle two like that.

Liu Bei's crew continues their mission! 2:42 - 2:52 - It'd be pretty cool if it could. 8:17 - 8:22 - Liu Yan: Just my luck to run into these guys.

Equipping the *Thunder Sword* to *Zhou Yu* (another *Zheng Letter* recruit) should provide the weapon with great utility! Not to mention the whole *Lu Bu* spectacle I mentioned last time! Otherwise, you have to wait until *Ma Su* joins your army, and that will take quite a while from here...

I think I lost something at the beginning: why the Thunder Sword went to Zhuge Liang? Does it help to cause more Tactics damage?
@HCBailly18 күн бұрын
It was either Zhuge Liang or Yi Ji, as they are my only sword wielders I have.

Hey HCBailly, if you attack the castles out of order, is it more difficult like with the previous three castles where if you attacked Nanjun earlier you would have to deal with all those other generals?

I'll check it out before recording, as I never tried doing it out of order before. Probably castle defense and tactics negating shenanigans.
