So, what can I say about today's episode in relation to the novel? 0:15 Yi Ji sticks around a while as a civil official to Liu Bei. The last time he's mentioned is rushing with Ma Liang to Liu Bei to announce a particular person's defeat and request for aid. By the time they arrive, that person is already dead. 4:56 This part of the story does not happen, because Lu Bu is dead. That said it is vaguely similar to something that happened with he was alive. After being defeated by Cao Cao and losing the territory he'd taken, he signs on to work for Liu Bei, then in control of Xuzhou. Mi Zhu and Zhang Fei protest, but Liu Bei decides to be nice. Liu Bei takes off on a campaign against Yuan Shu (not the one we saw at the start of the game), leaving Zhang Fei and Chen Deng in charge of Xuzhou. Zhang Fei is ordered to lay off the wine (also dial back on flogging his men so much), so he decided to have one last night of heavy drinking and then sobriety afterwards. When one of his men, Cao Bao, turns out to be a nondrinker, Zhang Fei is offended and bullies him into having a drink. Then when Cao Bao declines a second drink, Zhang Fei orders him flogged a hundred times, but is convinced by the other men to relent after fifty. Cao Bao immediately betrays Zhang Fei to Lu Bu, opening the gates of Xuzhou for him. In addition to the city, Lu Bu is also able to capture Liu Bei's wives. Zhang Fei ends up spearing Cao Bao in the back, and after reporting what happened to his sworn brothers, almost commits suicide, but is dissuaded by Liu Bei. Yuan Shu then offers a fortune to Lu Bu to attack Liu Bei from behind. Liu Bei escapes in time, and when Lu Bu doesn't get payment for services not rendered, gets angry and offers to take Liu Bei into his service. Liu Bei, amazingly, agrees to this. (Admittedly he was in a bad place because the campaign against Yuan Shu was going poorly, but still.) 6:25 I mentioned Zhang Ji under Episode 35. He was one of Dong Zhuo's top generals. Long before this part of the story, he's reported to have been killed by a stray arrow.

Happy New Year, HC! Aboit the bows, I'm pretty sure they are being offered as a way to give a weapon to Hwang Zhou on the probability you did not find the steel bow. After all, you said you only know about the hidden treasures because of the map you got

Yeah, Bows greatly benefit from knowing where the hidden ones are. Without them, Huang Zhong is pretty terrible.
