Apparently both versions of this game were rushed to meet a holiday deadline so if you combine that with no more resources than what the press had as well as the larger hardware a lot of these hiccups make more and more sense. I had no idea the DS game was rushed before looking this up though (or well to the extent that it actually was) so that makes all the improvements to the original that one made all the more impressive. That doesn't make shit like jowee pushing DJ around mid cutscene any less hilarious though

I agree that it's not at all apparent that the DS game had to hurry for a deadline. Also makes me wonder if they were able to get through things a bit faster when they were the original creative minds that had a clearer idea of where they wanted to take things. Granted, they also had the benefit of having another DS title to build things off of, too, unlike the Wii team basically working from scratch.
