Let's Play Fate/Samurai Remnant Episode 1 - The Waxing Moon Ritual

Fate/Samurai Remnant is a game made by Omega Force and published by KoeiTecmo, made in co-operation with Type-Moon and Aniplex as a product of the Fate Franchise. This historical fantasy tale takes place in Japan's capital of Edo in the year 1651, where the young swordsman Miyamoto Iori finds himself drawn into a terrible conflict where the reward is your wildest dreams come true, if only you are prepared to risk everything. Iori does not face this trial alone, but who or what is it that has come to aid him?
The game is played by TheLastRoboKy, joined in commentary by Coolguy who has very little knowledge of the Fate series and its various properties. We hope you enjoy the ride! Try to avoid spoilers in the comments section, just for Coolguy's sake since I'm going to be making him guess every servant's identity.

Damn, didn't even know you lads had started a new LP. Love y'all's content so glad to see some new stuff on the backlog! Totally agree with the weirdness of using the term "Afterglow" for a mechanic, although given Fate's uh....origins, not entirely surprising. Regarding Tuberculosis, that trend remained true for centuries. Heck it's allegedly part of why Doc Holiday became a notorious gunfighter, because he had a Tuberculosis diagnosis and wanted to be killed, rather than die to the illness...unfortunately he was not successful in that endeavor. Since you couldn't get rid of it, eventually it would catch up to you one way or another.

For the record, magecraft is magecraft because it's a "craft", something that makes use of human wisdom; it's something that accomplishes a result humans theoretically know how to do, but with different requirements. For example, normally building a stone wall requires bricks, mortar, and between hours to months/years of time depending on how big it is; with magecraft, you could swap out the requirements for, say, a very expensive, specially prepared emerald and a few seconds of incantation. But the result was still "something you knew how to do." Magic, on the other hand, is something completely beyond that. "Materialization of the Soul", "Administration (creation, deletion, and canonicalization) of Parallel Worlds" -- things humans don't yet know how to do even given infinite time and resources. Magic is _magic_ , something we absolutely don't understand. Put another way, magecraft is much like science, something that results from careful study and observation; magic is like reaching enlightenment, something ineffable that transcends reality.
