Found it complete at a local thrift store with all prices in good condition for $1.26, looked online later and realized how much i saved! Always check thrift stores or flea markets.

This was a coordinated effort by Games Workshop (of Warhammer and Warhammer 40K fame), and Milton Bradley, which had been making board games for over a century. It is also the grandfather of board game dungeon crawls like Descent.

Good review! Though I certainly wouldn't call Hero Quest cheap. If you want all the pieces you really have to be ready to pony up some cash! I have a copy but have yet to play. Thanks for going over the rules!

You don't need anything else than hero quest since, to quote the bard, THE ONLY WAY TO EXPAND HERO QUEST IS WITH MORE HERO QUEST!

I got this game in the 90's and later my cousin donated his two slightly less than full sets, so I had plenty of extra stuff such as monster figures etc. I also bought the two expansions available in my country, the Kellar's Keep and the Return of the Witch Lord.

I use to work demolition and construction and i found this game in an attic in one of the houses i was tearing down. Sadly most of pieces were lost but ive always thought it was a pretty cool looking game

Did he just say that if the elf had one hit from the goblin get threw, the elf with 6 body points would drop down to 1 life? I think he meant to say drop by 1 life. 7:35

I wouldn't say you can pick it up cheap. Unless $90 to $130 is a drop in the bucket for you.

Well, I consider myself lucky, given I found two copies of the game in reasonably good condition for $4-18AU around the charity shops around here in Australia.

I have some questions about the game and how its played. 1. Can the monsters move out of the rooms once they have been "opened" by a hero? 2. Do the "wandering monsters" show up every time a hero searches for treasure or just the one time? 3. When do the objects show up to the hero in the room? when they enter the room or just look thru the door? 4. Are there rules of engagement? can a hero disengage from a monster if they have exchanged an attack? 5. Can a hero move around a room without engaging with a monster?
@davidfishwick55734 жыл бұрын
1. Yes, but only through open doors. Monsters cant open closed doors (unless the notes state otherwise). 2. Wandering monsters show up whenever a hero draws a wandering monster card from the treasure pile. 3. The objects are put out as soon as a hero opens the door. Only secret doors, hidden treasure and traps are not placed. 4. Yes. A hero may attack a monster and then move away on the same turn. They just cant attack a second monster (unless they are using Heroic Brew). 5. Yes.

I've played both now and I'd say the US version is a refinement and improvement over the UK original. great stuff for a kid back in the 80's who wasn't mature enough for D&D. with a few house rules and fan tweaks it's even more fun now...
