The difference between Aofie and Jonny's reactions to telling Ethan's secret is so funny to be. Aofie went like full on mum mode like immediately "of course we're going to tell him, Ethan is a CHILD and we can't let him go to the mine alone!" Whereas Jonny's over here like "oh damn I want Ethan to think I'm cool but he can't think I'm cool if he's dead so I guess if better tell?" XD

Thanks so much for keeping licenced music in, Johhny! It's totally understandable why streamers don't wanna deal with that copyright bs, but, imo, LIS without its soundtrack isn't really LIS. So I'm happy that people who can't perhaps play this on their own get to have the full experience here! Also, all 5 chapters at once! That's next level!

In German literary sciences we have the lovely term "Fallhöhe". It translates to "Height to fall down from" and refers to the build-up in stories (or rather of characters) to show virtuousness (in Arthurian literature for example) or their likeability, overall quality, and most of all the amount of sympathy you as the recipient feel for them. You usually create "Fallhöhe" only to have the character fall afterwards. Without "Fallhöhe", no fall, no catastrophe. Problem with "Fallhöhe" is, that you may create just a bit too much - if a character is build-up as larger-than-life or too-good-to-be-true, you can expect the fall to be quite deep. The "Fallhöhe" that is created in Gabe is almost too much to bear. And it certainly makes it easy to see where this is going. Although I'd argue that the previous games didn't really create that much "Fallhöhe" compared to this one for their side characters... except maybe for William Price... (And before I forget to mention it, because I always get caught up in academic appreciation, I really love your LiS-streams - it's like playing the game myself with the commentary of someone who thinks about it as much as I do. :) )

I lived in Colorado my whole childhood, and this game is so perfectly accurate, it makes me miss it. From the state flags everywhere, the bear iconography, the view of the snow-capped mountains, the bighorn statues, even the arrangement of the buildings. 15/10.

Also, when she's singing the line "what the hell am I doing here?" and it pans back to show the Colorado flag in Gabe's room, that's just brilliant, honestly.

So glad that you got to enjoy this game completely spoiler-free! The trailers and accompanying press were horrific with what they revealed, including the tragedy at the end of chapter 1, and all of the optional romance. Even the "spoiler-free" introductory video on a channel I follow managed to give away even more story info. I still love the game and believe it's the best LiS yet, but the trailers could've held back so much more without hurting anyone's anticipation.
@kartsiilats44713 жыл бұрын
I kinda felt it was ok to spoil Gabe death as it's such a big part of what kind of a game it is. "You're playing a new girl in a small town" or "you're playing a murder mystery" are really different games. Although I'm not quite seeing the murder mystery part yet, unless someone was really willing to take down a small child to get rid of Gabe.
@Amaritudine3 жыл бұрын
@@kartsiilats4471 Fair point. I just wish the trailers had avoiding revealing that Gabe was the one killed. They could've set up the tragedy and the mystery of a deadly accident, without giving away the victim's identity until we actually played the game.

Things to understand about Colorado: 1. Everything relates to the Rocky Mountains. Directions, restaurants, everything. 2. We abuse the numbers 5280 and the Colorado flag is on effing everything. 3. If you are not native to Colorado you will be hearing about it for the rest of your time there. 4. So much weed. So much hiking. So much craft beer. Highly recommend visiting. It's a beautiful state just be prepared to probably wheeze slightly upon arrival as it is a mile above sea level. The mountain towns are gorgeous but they're also expensive as shit because all the rich people have homes there so they're the only ones who can afford to live in them.

Love the playthrough so far! Really awesome to see someone who knew absolutely nothing about it coming in (a lot of other channels knew about Gabe's death from the promotional material, so seeing you blindsided by it was great!). Really appreciate you keeping all the licensed music in as well! Definitely understand why a lot of people haven't been, but it just adds so much to the game. You mentioned at the start that you've heard Alex is 26. She's actually 21, so she was in the foster care system from the age of 13 rather than 18. Doesn't really make a difference story wise, but just though you might find in interesting to know! Also I find it interesting that you don't consider "damn" a curse word since it is (to the best of my knowledge) the only curse word that has ONLY negative connotations associated with it (dooming someone to eternal punishment, condemning someone, etc.). It's one of the few words I consider to be a legitimate curse word, so find it kind of amusing to find someone with the exact opposite view of it lol Can't wait to see the rest of the playthrough!

@@beyondviolet She does. Also 'foster care system' here could mean a simplification for a complicated history of being passed around through different institutions. At least there is something like that here in Germany.

I just finished the game yesterday, and now I'm watching your LP. This game was awesome, and apart from the last episode (no spoiler)... I think this was my favourite in the series. The only thing I'm a little worried about is how far apart each choice branches off. From my play-through it all seemed a tad linear, as if my choices didn't matter. I hope that impression is wrong, and your LP gives me something new to chew on. ps. Keep up the good commentary, love what you do.
