It can vary from state to state and usually you have to be certified in CPR or have another license that qualifies you. This is because broken ribs aren't really the half of it; CPR given incorrectly to a dying person can cause serious damage to their sternum or make them throw up and in so doing cause them to suffocate.

Good Samaritan laws only apply to people who are certified to provide medical assistance. If you're not certified and you think someone needs help, you damn sure better be able to produce evidence that the person 100% would have died if you didn't intervene, otherwise you're getting your balls sued off. You are told this in any CPR/AED/First Aid/First Response class (at least American Red Cross and American Health Association do).

It's sad that people sue people over a broken rib(s) after that person saved their life. However, as far as the law is concerned, if you aren't CPR certified, you aren't allowed to give CPR. The good samaritan law only protects you if you're qualified to give the help you're giving. Personally, I despise the existence of lawsuits. Weird how people are complaining about the sponsorships. It's 15 dollars every six months. You get almost all videos that come out on their site early, live podcasts, sponsor cuts, deleted scenes, extended episodes, and discounts in the store. There's probably more that I'm forgetting but really though. It's worth it and it isn't just some scam so you give them money. They've had it for years.

Just want to give some knowledge on the whole CPR topic. There is a thing called the Good Samaritan's Act (possibly spelled wrong) that prevents you from being sued in the event of you saving someone's life. The person does have to be unconscious, and I believe that having certifications like CPR-C or NLS are required. To perform any kind of medical assistance to a person you must get their consent first, so unconsciousness counts as consent (sounds kind of rapey when out of context). Like they said, having a broken rib is better than dying. Also, It is a good sign if the ribs do break, because it means that you are applying the right amount of pressure. Lastly, the form of CPR that lacks Rescue Breathing (Mount to Mouth) is the civilian version. Trained people do the entire process. I know all of this info because I am a certified life guard, and finished my training 3 months ago. if anyone has any questions, leave a comment. Thanks for reading! P.S. I live in the maple syrup lands (AKA Canada), so I'm not sure if this is accurate in the US.... sorry, Eh

Rescue Breathing is part of CPR in the United States as well, or at least part of CPR for medical personnel. And the Good Samaritan Act applies as long as your actions remain in the scope of your training. So if you've only been trained in CPR, you obviously should not be trying to perform an amateur tracheotomy when the person isn't breathing. Trying to do something you're not trained to do invites you for getting your ass sued off.

I've been reading comments for about an hour and I am stunned I haven't seen a single one where someone would say Geoff was a bully for kicking Gavin from the game and then wrestling him later. I don't know if they'll ever read this, but the Good Samaritan laws protect people from being sued for attempting to rescue someone, even if they are unsuccessful and that person dies. To my knowledge, one has to be trained and certified in CPR to get the full protection.

So to shed some light. For those actually certified in CPR/AED, the ratio is 30 compressions/2 breaths for Adult, Child, & Infant. Adult about 2 1/2 inches down (two hands), Child 1.5 inches down (one hand), and Infant 1 inch down (two fingers). If there are two people Adult remains 30/2, Child & Infant is 15/2. There are reasons you can be sued, most are pretty stupid, but some have merit. You are trained not to do CPR if the scene is unsafe, where a person did CPR in the middle of a parking lot, in the middle of summer and for some reason they removed his shirt (I think it was because they checked his pulse by putting their ear to his chest couldn't hear through the material or something.). I think he got 3rd degree burns for no reason. If you act negligently or perform beyond your scope of training, for example giving someone a tracheotomy when you are not trained to do so. Breaking ribs can happen and most likely will, but it doesn't always. In addition, CPR does not save people as often as movies have you believe, nor does someone coming back occur like in the movies. What Gavin is referring to, is a person who is not trained doing CPR. They are, in fact, just supposed to do compression only CPR for several reasons. 1. People can go quite some time without oxygen, not without blood circulating through organs. 2. People might be hesitant to give CPR if they have to do mouth to mouth. 3. It is easier for a 9-1-1 operator to give instructions. 4. It is only one thing a person has to focus on. (Do it to the rhythm of "Stayin Alive" or "Another one bites the dust" 100compressions/minute) Source: A lifeguard for 10 years, a lifeguard instructor for 5 years (which includes CPR/AED for the professional rescuer, performed CPR twice, saved someone once, and performed rescue ventilations 5 times.

People are unable to understand group dynamics, without Jack the entire group would have a different feel. If there was no ray or micheal, would gavins antics be as funny? If comedy is the light from a flashlight, Jack is the hands in the way creating shadow puppets, not funny, but giving some shape to the humor. Hes the straight man as it were. Comedy groups need the Straight man, funny man, and idiot. Ray and Jack (sometimes Ryan) play the straightmen while Michael and Gavin play the funny man. The video games make up the idiot (or bystander I guess) the thing they make jokes about. If you watch a lot of videos a straight man is always pared with a funny man and its not like its on purpose, they unconciously know what generates humor. In play pals micheal unconciously plays the straight man (an angry one) while gavin is being silly and over the top. tl;dr Without Jack, a lot of RT videos would lost an intergral part of comedy. Whether you like him or not doesn't matter, deep down you still like him more than you would if he was gone. Like adding salt to watermelon, it makes the jokes sweeter.
