Yea it’s so nice every time I play minecraft I listen and watch Gem she is the best! And every series I watch my builds get better because mostly they really reflect off of Gems like as soon as I got Java minecraft I played 1.16 and I took hours to find the seed bc I didn’t think it would be in the description but it was so when I finally got the seed I built a mushroom house in like the exact same spot it was so lovely and I’m still playing on that world tryna get diamonds and yesterday I finally got some!❤

Minecraft and Stardew are definitely my go-to cozy games for the christmas season too. I also enjoy playing Steep, A short Hike and both Ori games, but for me I much more enjoy watching wholesome christmassy movies. Every year I watch both Paddington movies, It's a Wonderful Life, Home Alone and this year I'm also watching The Holdovers. If I have more time I also do another rewatch of Lord of The Rings. I haven't actually ever tried eggnog so maybe I'll try that this year.

The overall vibe of how eggnog tastes is pumpkin spice milky custard. I like to grate fresh nutmeg over it when I serve it, especially when I make it myself instead of just getting storebought. Edit to add: If you're from a country that doesn't do pumpkin or other pie spices, the usual flavors are cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and a touch of clove; some people would include a little ginger or coriander or cardamom.

I love listening to you talk about the historical contexts and inspirations for the builds you make. Not only does it educate, but it gives me a greater idea of your thought process when designing a build. I would love to see more stuff like your explanation of castle-building terms - maybe moodboards or reference images that you work from (assuming you use them.)
@outcast40876 сағат бұрын
It would be nice to see Gem's take on explaining different castle terminology, maybe even with respective builds in minecraft as examples, but if you need it right now, I'd recommend checking out Shadiversity. This is where I personally got the majority of my castle knowledge while preparing to design my own. There's a separate playlist specifically dedicated to castles, so it's very convenient.

Since it's the end of the year I wanted to thank you Gem for brightening our days and making us laugh, it's always a pleasure watching a video of yours, weather it's complete chaos like the Life series or a calmer setting like Hermitcraft - and same for your streams!! 1- I love this series because, like she says, she gets to just chat about life and what goes on in her day-to-day. With the Hermits is fun and awesome and chaotic, but there's times for that and there's times to just be chill. 2- Not an eggnog kinda guy. If I'm thirsty around Christmastime, Imma get me a mug of hot chocolate. 3- My comfort games are Skyrim, anything Lego, BG3, and Minecraft. I love open world games where you can customize stuff.

There are very few series that I watch in HD, full screen, and normal video speed. This is absolutely one of them! EDIT: I LOVE eggnog! My favorite cozy game is Stardew Valley, but if you're looking for something new, I also really enjoy this game called Palia for PC and the Switch! It's a cozy, relaxing online MMO! You basically get to live in this cute little village, make new friends, farm, cook, and build your own home as you work to uncover why humanity went extinct. Sometimes I just spend multiple in-game days at my house farming and decorating my home with new furniture. It's a lot of fun!

Cozy Game Recomendation: Kingdom Two Crowns. Also on the switch. It’s a very simple game, but also very addicting. I got it on the switch & I’ve been playing it like crazy. There’s also a Norse DLC and a Greek DLC. 2:35 - I just taught my highschool students about this a week ago! We ended the semester talking about the early Middle Ages, and feudalism. I actually didn’t know what a bailey was either until we talked about it!

A cute cozy game (with some scary elements) recommendation: Sky: Children of the Light (Great music, you can fly, and death isn’t a fear -except in certain places) It’s on mobile and switch. You get to explore in an open world, learn the story, get cute outfits, items, and expressions and it’s a community based game. I play solo since my friends don’t have it and it’s still my favorite chill game to ”live” in because you can interact with people and surroundings in ways other games don’t allow and it’s amazing.

I love the great hall!!! The history nerd in me is so happy to hear a Minecraft KZbinr actually talking about an inner and outer bailey. Layers of defence were critical for castles in case of a siege or a retreat. The outer bailey would often house a mini village with things like a barn, grainery, stables, market stalls, and houses for the servants and guards to live. The inner bailey would have the keep, blacksmith, kitchen, church, etc. Fun fact: a keep is called a keep only if it has outer walls around it. Many KZbinrs incorrectly call a castle a keep but its only a keep if it's surrounded by walls and towers. The baileys were protected by portcullis and drawbridge. Sometimes they had a kill room with two portcullis on either side to trap invaders in an onslaught of arrows, projectiles and hot oil or tar. In addition when KZbinrs make turrets for the castle (known as crennelations, merlons, or maticulations) they would sometimes have gaps and arrow slits which they almost never make so they can fire below the merlon/crenulation. I love watching your videos while playing Minecraft. It's such a vibe!!!

After watching you explain your building process for the past couple years, I’ve improved so much! I used to try to build things way bigger than I could tackle and I’d get frustrated. But after seeing you just outline basic shapes, blocking out big walls for the detail to come later, messing around and trying new techniques and changing them if they don’t work, letting the build sit for a bit and adding to it when inspiration strikes, etc.. between you and Bdubs, I’ve truly changed the way I look at building in this game! So glad the hardcore world is back! Hopefully the villagers won’t be such a nuisance 😂

To continue some information about Great Halls in castles, because they are usually large and tall, great halls are often on the highest level, without any rooms above it, just because of how heavy stone can get and roofs can be surprisingly heavy too, so extra bracing walls and columns are needed to support stone floors. If you look at historic castles you often find that the only thing that goes above a great hall is a walkway/open hallway that lets you go from one end to the other without needing to go down the stairs to go through or go under the great hall. Most of the great halls I’ve seen have one walkway on the side opposite the best windows

GAME RECOMMENDATION Hey Gem! I was listening to your talk about cozy games. I wanted to suggest Slime Rancher. Both the first and the Second game. They perfectly match the Coziness of a game like Stardew, and also match the min-max grind feel if you want to take the game to that level. If you haven’t played either I highly suggest the original Slime Rancher. The simpler art style feels a lot less overwhelming to new players. Have a happy holidays! -Jaj PS: I forgot to mention. IT’S ALSO ON THE SWITCH.

Gemmm, I love love Stardew and animal so, maybe try chef rpg or little witch un the woods. I have to say tho, they’re early access but sooo so good and relaxing and just cozy. I’m a medical student so playing something that is relaxing yet it lets your mind thinking into how to overcome challenges or be creative is like a necessity for me haha. Chef rpg and or says it’s a game about running a restaurant but you get to gather the ingredientes, level up, fight to get meats and discover new recipes (which looks sooooo yummy). There are many more things that you can do but that summarizes it. Little witch it the woods again, as the name says you’re an apprentice witch who helps the town by bringing in new npcs while fixing a little hut for you to live in. You get to gather plants for potions or spells but each plant is unique and has a specific way of gathering it. The main story is sooo cozy and cool and the villagers are so interesting. Also, the potion making minigame really makes you think like THINK like big brain. I love the type of videos Gem! Happy holidays. (Yes, I do like eggnog haha but im more of a spices kind of girl).
