I cannot remember if it was used before or not, but that side art on the thumbnail is surprisingly more chibi than I expected it to normally be. Nevertheless, it is adorable and a treat to see.

I love this, but a little hint; go inwards. Start with the outermost numbers - fill in the edges, work your way towards the middle. And DO NOT GUESS.

I love the look of Wander and Chellebot avatars! They kind of fit the personality of you and Chelle (also hi Chelle! It's cool to see another joint video!) The Wanderbot looks severely pissed off and has the destroy everything look, which kind of fits what we often see with you kind of becoming a god of overkill. And Chellebot looks friendly (and kind of like a Warframe) which fits her approach to decision-making in games. She talks to everyone to here their side of the story. They are also adorable.

Usenet isn't "forums and chatrooms", it's a newsgroup system. It's still working nowadays, as long as you have a newsgroup provider (most ISPs that I know of offer free basic newsgroup access to their customers).

Now murder mystery and picross... That's one combination, I've never heard of. Even though the intro didn't really speak to me and I didn't know, what to make of this combination, I'm enjoying this series so far. I've actually been doing picross for about a year now every now and then (learned everything for myself) and there's a relatively useful trick for finding out, wether there are blocks of cells overlapping. (I'll describe it at the end of my comment, in case you don't wanna know about it.) It works especially well in empty columns or rows since every filled or crossed out cell might make for more overlapping (and is particularly useful for longer rows or colums)... If you don't know, what I mean, you'll see later on... I just wanna say one other thing before the trick: *Don't guess.* It's the worst thing, you could do. You base every new cell on the ones, you already filled out and when you fill in cells by random, you'll have a hard time correcting all of the follow-up mistakes. I've never really guessed in picross, but I made enough mistakes to actually know, how much can go wrong by one misplaced cell. So don't try to potentially make it even worse for yourselves. I'm really sorry, if I sound lecturing or something like that. So... the trick: It'll take some time to explain, but once you get it, it's fairly simple. If you have... for example the numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 in a... let's say 20 cells wide column, you can first add all the other numbers + 1 to your first number (the + 1 stands for the crossed out cell inbetween, since it's 1, X, 2, X, 3, X,...) Since there's no X before the one you'd be adding 1, 3, 4, 5 and 6 (which makes 19). You'd then proceed to add the number, you wanna check for overlapping cells. (It's good to take the smallest one, that seems reasonable to you, since, if it overlaps, every number greater than that one must also overlap...) (3 overlaps one more than 2, 4 one more than three and so on for example. It always works thar way.) The important thing is to add the actual number and not the number + 1. If you for example add 2 to the sum of 19 you'll get 21. That's one above 20. So there's one cell overlapping. It's always the outermost cell (or the last in the direction you read the row or the column) since the overlapping starts from the outer cells and work its way to the inside. I hope, this was kind of comprehensable and I'm really sorry for blabbering on and on. I hope, I could help in case you read this comment. Thank you... that's all.

@36:45 "I should probably mention that this game is set in 1996, so 200MB is massive" Not really, I bought a 486DX2-80 with 8 MB mem and an 850MB harddrive for storage so 200MB storage wasn't that much in 1996. 420MB was the standard size of harddrive new computers were shipped with at the time. 200MB would be what you would find in a computer that was a couple of years old. So it seems like Scout was assembled from old parts.... Also UUSENET is what led to newsgroups(Though these terms are often used they are not. Usenet is the network. newsgroup were the message board/forums repositories). Which was and is a way for people to share articles with one another. It's basically a huge forum that is duplicated each night to all server nodes and that people download to browse the articles in it. (It's still very much alive, though it's more used to share files and data these days, often of pirated movies, software, TV series etc though instead of legal content. It's the alt.binaries. thing you may have hear people talk about.) Anyway in 1996 the WWW (world wide web) was already around and what a lot of new users with modem dial-up connections used. This was the Netscape Navigator (v4) era. (Usenet had been around at that point since 1979) Forums, IRC and e-mail are separate from USENET. USENET was purely a way for universities and businesses to exchanges files and news posts and used it's own communication protocol. It's more comparable to the old FIDO message exchange system that was used over vast number of telephone dial-in bulletin board systems over the world prior to the rise of the internet.

200 MB was pretty massive from my perspective at the time. Then again I was a poor kid for most of the 90's. I remember we had to drive all the way out to the nearest city just to get a HDD large enough to fit Megaman X and Red Alert at the same time so we wouldn't have to keep uninstalling one to fit the other.

@@wanderbots Yes in the early nineties. But in that period harddisk space still doubled every 18 months or so. I bought my first PC from the money I made from my college internship, a 486DX2, in the first half of 1996. It was a budget system (AMD processor instead of intel etc.) At that time the minimum spec for that computer was a DX2-66MHz with 4MB ram and 420MB HD. I bought it upgraded for about 800 dutch guilders at the time the USD was about 2 guilders a piece so it was about $400-500 bucks. For that price it had a 486DX2-80Mhz, a larger then normal (850MB) HD and 4 MB extra memory on top of that default 4MB. Because it was my first intel compatible computer (I had used an amiga 500 and 1200 before and started out with a C64 in the mid 80s) I remember the date and the specs of that time very clearly ^_^'

Oh! Picross is just Japanese puzzles (at least that's what they're called in the Netherlands), I love those! It's just counting and deduction. There's a lot of ways to solve these, but be sure to alternate looking at across and down. I always forget to do that >.< So focused on the clues on the left side that I forget there's clues on top.

Way to just knee jerk into assuming we'd bumble through the whole game. I skipped the tutorial because the basics were clear. Applying those basics requires practice, and we weren't going to get that with extreme hand holding.
@Heatskore
@Heatskore 4 жыл бұрын
Wanderbots Sorry it was never meant as a statement that you’d bumble your way through the whole game. It wasn’t meant as a short on your intelligence, as I know you’ll get to understand how Picross puzzles work. It was just tough from my perspective watching the first few puzzles not be understood, when the things you were not understanding was explained in the tutorial. It made for a tough watch at first, but I should recognize not everyone is well versed in Picross. My apologies.
