@@joshuareich580 that still doesn't make sense in the grand scheme of things. the only people that have a reason for lying are those that believe themselves to be werewolves or minions, since tanners were not in the game at that point, therefore, since brian believes himself to be minion and brian knows pat is lying, that means pat must be werewolf, but brian knows through minionknowledge that pat was not originally werewolf and has no reason to believe himself to be werewolf, therefore, brian can logically conclude that pat truthfully robbed brian of his minion and is now lying about being a villager, which consequently means that brian is in fact robber at this point and should believe himself to be a robber and as a robber has no reason to lie about his original role. he just played like an idiot.

Can we just appreciate that last round? •Pat and Jenna are both werewolves. They know each other are werewolves. •Jeff is the Minion. He knows Pat and Jenna are werewolves. •Brian’s the Doppelgänger. He copies Jeff, but because the Minion’s turn requires action from other players, he can’t really do anything. •Simone is the drunk. She swaps her card out into the middle. Now, since there were two werewolves and one minion, as long as they weren’t dumb, they could win no matter what. However, Jeff is the only one who knows they’ve already won, and Brian has no clue about what to do. Now, since he knew Jeff was the minion, he COULD have just targeted Jeff, or targeted himself. Instead, he decided to go 100% wild card. He claimed Pat was the drunk and he copied his card. When Simone said she was the drunk, he called her suspicious. When everyone agreed, Jenna thought “wait, why is he lying, is he the minion?” and claimed HE only claimed to have copied the drunk. He IMMEDIATELY jumps onto this train, then begins throwing HIMSELF AND SIMONE under the bus, claiming technically one of them could be werewolves (which, for Simone, could technically be true at this point). This makes any villagers suspicious of him and Simone, and hopefully any werewolves and the minion would go along with this. Considering how they successfully convince Simone that she misheard or misremembered Brian saying he copied Pat, and how they then DEBATED that fact for some time, I would say the term “gaslighting” is accurately used in this scenario. And that’s why this game is insane.

Ya, the play was non-optimal... the second the doppleganger copies the minion and see that there are two wolves the game is pretty much set... all they have to do is trick Simone to reveal that she is not the robber (she might rob a wolf and then killing her would lose the game from the wolf team), and suss out that she is not the tanner.. ..

Technically, no. Brian doesn’t know who the werewolves are, or that there are two of them, and Jeff can’t be sure he’s still a minion (especially if he heard or felt Brian look at his card). Technically, Brian could just say “Hey, Minion and Werewolf, I copied the minion, let’s win together”, but they would have no reason to trust him. Besides “optimal play” doesn’t make for good videos.

I'm new to Polygon (and only halfway through the vid right now) and thought "oh hey, cool, Simon de Rochefort must be a figure from folklore who was involved in a werewolf hysteria or something" and googled it, and was like "bah its just someone modern person's twitter" and got annoyed. Then I released its Simone, as in that Simone, as in, whoa her name is perfect for this game.

Idk what you talking talking about, in this game I learned that bdg has one braincell and probably shares it (I still love him). In second round he lost because played for the wrong team, and in last messed up in his narrative and tryed to gaslight Simone, while he didn't need to. If they voted for him, he would win. (They won anyway because there were *4 people playing for werewolves*)

@@potmki6601 In the second round it was merely a misunderstanding and in the last he just went wildcard because acting too obviously suspicious could lead them to think he is the tanner. By playing wildcard he looked to either not get a majority vote or be voted, as he didn't know his fellow teammates, trying to gaslight Simone was probably an attempt to get voted but since Jenna went with it, which he didn't expect, he didn't look sus

That's a good point, because the only other reason that makes sense for Pat to lie would be if Pat was lying about switching with Brian entirely. The only reason he would lie about that is if he actually had switched with Jenna, the werewolf. So for Brian, he can call out Jenna either way, because if Pat is the minion now (lying about what Brian was), Brian is on the other team and calling out Jenna as the werewolf will win him the game, and if Pat was lying about switching with Brian entirely because he's the werewolf now, Brian can call out Jenna to throw suspicion off of Pat (who's on his team now because Brian is still the minion)

I think Brian did believe that Pat switched with him. In the end of that round, he kinda mentions about thinking that Pat joined the werewolf team but didn't realize that he himself would not be on the werewolf team anymore (since he was switched to be a robber and is now on the villagers' team) and therefore did not call out Jenna as a werewolf. Regardless of Jenna's role being switched during the night, he had the information that Jenna was a werewolf at the start and could have just learned if anyone switched with her. Brian did redeem himself in the last game though.

This version is One Night only but playing 10+ people will need to use the old version or the classic style. :) Even with cupid and all :) am i right?

@@MaloneSarcia The standard base game will get you up to 10 players officially, though you can go up to 13 if you really want using all 16 card, but who even uses regular villagers? In my experience though seating and tabling becomes and issue by about 8 players. You may have to arrange for an extra non-player like in common multi-round werewolf to achieve such high numbers therefore. There are a further 4 base games, Daybreak, Vampire, Alien and Super Villains in addition to Werewolf which can all be played individually or in any combination as far as I know, and four bonus packs which aren't supposed to be played individually without one of the base games and which are each modeled on one of the alternative base games. Altogether these give you 86 roles within the app, but the bonus packs also include alternative base game cards not duplicated in the app of which I count 7, so that would give you a total of 93 cards and unless the additional games make substantial changes to the mechanics (which some certainly do) to change the number of possible players, that means there are a maximum of 90 players if you want it. Not that you should though. Keep to a max of 8 players, forget about villagers and Masons for a bit and just play with the interesting cards in base Werewolf while letting the app do the dirty work.

As soon as I died, the werewolf managed to gaslight everyone again into thinking that another person who came to my defense was a werewolf, and everyone followed. The level of manipulation I witnessed was nowhere near BGD’s in this episode. It was off the charts with logarithmic scale. I almost believed I had misheard the GM for a moment.

In the last round, Jeff saying that he was the seer and that he saw that Brian was the doppelganger is a bluff gone wrong. Because, the doppelganger comes before the seer, therefore, Brian has swapped his card into the middle for another card and THEN Jeff looked at Brian's card, which is another new card. Seeing that no one realised, Jeff was off the hook so... But great energy and I love this series of board games!

I think you got the Doppelganger confused with the copycat. The copycat looks at a card from the center and does that night action when it’s called, but still doesn’t switch it. And the doppelgänger looks at another players card and basically shares that role with someone. I could be wrong though.

Its a card you need to trust each other to use - theres nothing stopping the doppelganger simply claiming troublemaker if the village team wins, claiming wolf if the wolf team wins, and claiming tanner or minion if he gets hung.
