An addendum: playcount only counts if you get a minimum of 10,000 - 20,000~ish score, so retrying in the very first few notes of a map doesn't give any playcount.

I think profile stats are really useful to figuring out how to optimize your playtime. For example, if you have only 150 hits per play with like 500 hours of play time, maybe you should play longer maps and retry less. It tells you that there could be something you could be doing to improve more.

I think that people who already innately improve fast get more motivated to improve even faster because of their fast improvement, and those who who innately improve slow get demotivated from their slow improvement and only improve slower. Source: I am 176k with 626 hours of playtime and my very slow improvement only demotivates me and makes me improve even slower.

The way i see it, osu doesnt hv any good visual representation of your skill in the game. So i just ignore most of the stats (which is usually better on others compare to mine) and just focus on what part of a map/patterns that i can do, how long i can last in a relatively hard map, or what type of map i can play at a certain star level. This is how i motivate myself to keep improving, not through numbers but through real experience.

A very very good way to see your improvement is by playing a difficult map. For example, the first time I played the 6* Highscore I got 111 misses with nofail on. Yesterday I got 10 misses, so I played the 7* one with nofail and got 80 misses and I will play the map once a month to check up on my improvement. You should do this with any maps that isolate a certain skillset (assuming you are going to play that skillset). Highscore isolates aim, you could use play something like HONESTY or Sidetracked Day to isolate streams, Sputnik to isolate finger control, etc and use osu-trainer to increase the bpm when you get about 95% accuracy.

I think this is unrelated but one thing about improving is to understand that you have high and lows. Based on the learning curve, you will have a moment where your improvement will greatly slow down (after a big improvement), also called a plateau. The correct mindset to pass it is to understand improvement isn't always constant and at one point will slow down. So when it slows down, you can play through it and still have motivation to continue as you know you will improve again if you keep going.

I sincerely doubt it's completely impossible, given that the friendslist still functions largely the same, you should be able to get the game or the website to send the impulse for adding yourself. Not removing myself to try tho haha Edit: I tried logging in and then changing to the omd website and it let's me do that, following the old style I took a sample profile old.ppy.sh/u/39828?a=add&localUserCheck=52311ff77a53c4a53f00180b4f45f860 where you could replace the string "39828" with your user ID, atleast in the old style. Again I'm not removing myself but this is 99% of the old solution except the functionality check, but I wpuld assume it works, given the login etc. are all still functional.
