The Nomai weren't willing to sacrifice the whole solar system. When the tracking module receives the co-ordinates and the statue's "wake" the Nomai up, they would turn off the sun station thus ending the loop. It's clear that the Nomai were indeed desperate (the whole project could've gone wrong) but they were still thinking about the wellbeing of the solar system.

Bit of a lore dump in this one. This is one of the locations you typically only discover towards the end of the game, hence the long story summary on the walls. Regarding "who activated the statue in the tracking module?" - you should be able to figure the answer to this based on what you've learned here and re-reading the texts from inside the probe tracking module.

Number of LPs I've seen of the outer wilds: 6 Number of LPers who identified the warp point design at the top of the black hole forge and tried to get to it that way instead of trying to somehow awkwardly wedge the spaceship in there: 1

While you are already aware that you found arguably the biggest secret in the star system by accident, you are not the first i've seen do it. Perhaps a little earlier than the others. HOWEVER you did do something I have never considered and am now curious about. This does not affect the story of the game but: Something happens if the supernova goes off while you are inside the Ash Twins core. You ended the video by Meditating it the Ash Twins core. Now i'm wondering if the thing that would have happened if you had just stayed there until the end of the loop also happened because you meditated and so in physicality ended the loop in the core. I don't know if you will even find out and I don't want to spoil what it actually is but i'll be watching the footage carefully just in case.
