Today is the game's 20th anniversary, and it's still my favorite game of all time. I wish games like this were still made with this amount of polish, features, and attention to detail. Imagine if modern games had tons of unlockables including for single-player that you actually unlock at a steady pace rather than having to pay real money or endlessly grind to get, often at random. I miss bots in MP, objectives that require thought and experimentation, starting with something like a pistol and finding better weapons that I can carry all at once rather than almost always starting with an assault rifle or other primary weapon and being limited to two guns at a time, secondary functions, disarming, manually using gadgets rather than pressing an action button to watch the game play itself, enemies reacting to being shot and taking time to shoot once I'm spotted, extra modes like the Carrington Institute and challenges, and choosing from several multiplayer characters. FPSs today mostly feel generic by comparison.

Ah it's just not the same in high res. Never mind this 1080p nonsense BACK IN MY DAY Perfect Dark was 480i max, with a low frame rate and drops that'd make you wince. AND you'd need the expansion pak to even get that. Luxury.

I always loved the unlockable cheats in these games & I really miss that in modern ones. They let the devs do creative things that didn't necessarily give you a gameplay advantage too, which made for so much replayability. I had my worst checkout experience very recently. Was behind about 3 people with baskets, the one in front put her stuff on the belt & then wandered off to get more. Then did this again. Then the cashier started ringing up her things & she'd walked off again & wasn't there, so when he finished piling all these things up at the end, people started looking at me like it was my stuff. When she finally got back, she started bagging things up very carefully, and only after that was finished did she get her cash out & carefully count out the money. It was, I'd imagine, just as harrowing as being in a war.

Amazeballs! Perfect Dark is Also my favouritest bestest game ever, I played it non-stop to my record ever, 23 hours, with only mugs of tea, a handful of biscuits and "Mexican cigarettes" -A longer run than even than any of my Gran-Turisimo marathon-gaming sessions. I can't remember any of the game without watching playthroughs, probably not surprising really, but I still remember loving it so hard 💖

Ian, you kind of missed a trick with this one by not pointing out to Zoe the fun things that made the game special like the laptop guns, secondary weapon functions (including disarm when using Joanna's fists), real-time lighting which you can alter by shooting out lights (which games don't even normally have now), the varied objectives on Special Agent difficulty upwards that show more interesting parts of the levels and accompanying challenging gunplay that requires a level of strategy and is therefore a lot more entertaining. Also, a greater focus on multiplayer would be good. Anyway, I'm not surprised Zoe came away thinking this was bad because she didn't get to see what makes the game so ahead of its time and in some ways (although admittedly clearly not all) timeless. I was really looking forward to this one as someone who grew up with the original game but it was a wasted opportunity. PS I understand from the video that you may have started on Agent because you thought you had to do that when first starting the game but it isn't the case - you can start the first level on anything up to Perfect and can keep going from there as long as you beat that difficulty on every stage in sequence. Agent was always quite easy but it's way too easy now that the game can be played in 60FPS, whereas it was originally designed with its 20FPS frame rate on N64 in mind.

They used to use Wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) in making of absinthe and it has thujones that can interact with GABA receptors in your brain. I'm not sure if anyone anymore uses wormwood in the process anymore. The amounts would have been minute but still, i theory it can mess with your brain.

@@Vamptonius Oh gosh, blame my failing memory. I was sure he wasn't in the main game. I have the Rare Replay version installed, but am tempted to get the N64 out of it's box and have a crack at the game old skool. It's Peter in the remaster, although it was a different face in the N64 version. You can play the first mission on any difficulty, and beating a mission unlocks the next mission on that difficulty and below. Every mission unlocks a cheat by beating it, and you can get another cheat from each mission by beating it within a certain time on a specific difficulty. Zero was a prequel rather than a sequel, but it was really bad.

You incorrectly said you have to beat the game on Agent to unlock the harder difficulties. This isn’t true. You can start the first level on Perfect Agent and it will unlock the next level up to PA. It’s Dark difficulty that you need to beat the game on PA to unlock.
