Ahhh, playing this a young kid in the late 80s. My greatest fear - finding a 'C'. I don't know if I ever understood what what those letters meant, I imagined 'S' was a snake, for example. But whenever I would see a 'C' I would turn and run only to have it run me down or follow me until I got into a dead end and it killed me.

Of course getting gold can interfere with getting to the end, that's the point. If you want to get a lot of gold, the game becomes harder. In a lot of games you get more score for doing each action by playing on a harder difficulty. In rogue, you get more score by making the game harder for yourself.

How to save the game and load the game??

In this version, Ctrl-x exits with autosave. But you have to remember your character name. The next time you boot up the game and it asks you for your Rogue's name, type in the name and it will bring you right back to where you left off.
