I get what TMM is saying about Jin but I also see why they decided to dumb down Jin for T8 and that's because he has to be VERY accessible to new players since he is once again the main protagonist. Many first time players will definitely try and play Jin because of that. As a Jin main for decades though, I still prefer T7 Jin but no hate on T8 Jin.

The reason they probably “dumb down” Jin like you call it and easier to play is because they want people to play their flagship character. Like Ryu and Ken is for Street Fighter and Scorpion and Sub-Zero for Mortal Kombat that’s what they want for Jin. They also want him to be played in tournaments as well so if Jin is accessible to play why not.

I play a lot of Jin in Tekken 7 and it took a while to start getting consistent wins with him. It felt pretty good. I'm also kinda disappointed that he's not super technical and challenging in Tekken 8, but he's one of the poster boys. He's a top pick and a favorite among tons of people, and they clearly don't fully understand him since his win rate is garbage. I think the dumbed down Jin sucks for the few who enjoy how hard he is to play, but for sake of getting more people to play the game and pick up Jin cuz he's a main character (and just looks cool,) then so be it. It's an unfortunate sacrifice that only a small percent of players have to deal with.

I think this is because of his win/pick rate percentage, one of the most picked Characters but if you dont know him well he is not accesible because of his hard execution and learning curve, not saying he was the hardest character in tekken 7 but he certainly is a fan favorite and people get frustrated for not being able to use him. Few people are willing to get completely reck by everybody else just to learn his basics. This is also applies to Kazuya and the rest of the roaster in Tekken 8, in the arcade tutorials the messages encourages the players to be more aggressive and so the mechanics of the game like the heat system. I think is not something bad, they are trying to attract new players and also give a fresh flavor to the game. If people dont like it they will stay in tekken 7 servers.

As a Jin main, I understand MainMan. You can definteley say that Jin is more boring in Tekken 8. Imagine newbies picking him or Kazuya up and just getting beaten up all the time like it happend in Tekken 7. I dont think thats good for the game in a marketing sense. Personally, Idk what to think of it yet. I can play a difficult Jin the same as an easy Jin. However, maybe I start hating it if less experienced people suddenly beat me due to Jins new easy tools.

That's the entire essence of Tekken tho, nothing comes for free. If you want to play a really strong but honest character, you have to put in the work. Only then will people respect you. You can't play a brainded low effort/ high reward character (negan and noctis for example) and then expect people to show you the same respect as they show someone who has mastered an actually difficult character like T7 Jin. The reason I played jin is because he perfectly rewarded the player for their skill.

Jin was actually always consistent and easy to use for the most part since T4 with easy combos. A Jin main never had to learn hard micro dash combos to optimise and what not. TMM has to admit that he's the only freak that likes that about Tekken. This kind of feature belonged to characters like Kazuya and Lee who had very clunky and hard to execute bnb combos in Tekken 5 DR while being some of the strongest characters. Up to Tekken 7 Jin was building up strength while remaining consistent for the most part. Now the character is both strong and does not require a lot of execution. As a main I love that shit. I never liked having to do micro dash combos to optimise no matter how fulfilling it is to do them. What's fun to me is mashing his sick karate moves like b1,2; f3,1 and such. And if you do like execution you can still go for electric follow ups after ws 2 and ecd 1 since generic jumpikick in combos is gone now. Also no one is talking about nerfed wall carry. In T7 Jin can throw you at the wall from a mile away run up and do max dmg combo. Aris always called the character a bitch for that. That's probably why the guy in the chat said Jin is better in T7. I sure hope devs don't listen to TMM because his view on the game is stuck in T5DR times and he's pathologically fixed on Jin while even seldomly paying the character himself. Why do you care?
@azuresaiyan9005 Жыл бұрын
Combos aren’t the only things that make a character hard. In 7 and most of the games with his karate style Jin had to use most of his kit for many different scenarios, as not one move was a catch all answer. T8 has reduced it to where you only need to know 4 moves making most of his moveset redundant. It also takes some of the journey aspect of learning the character. That isn’t something only MM feels that’s something a lot of fg players feel, the emergent gameplay element that’s seemingly being removed from newer games.
@Mr440c Жыл бұрын
@@azuresaiyan9005 You're talking about things not related to Jin then. My personal issue with TMM is that he's an influencer who appears to be able to push his oppinion to Namcops for some reason unfortunately. Considering this it's annoying to me how he's focused on Jin so much while for example DamageXCaling's oppinion on Jin is way more comprehensive and I'd rather devs listen to guys like him than TMM. Df1 range is overtuned, yes. D2 is overtuned, yes. 2,1,4 shouldn't knockdown/splat, yes. But those are minor issues to me. They can be fixed rather quickly and the character is fine. You can boot up T5DR and see fo yourself that Jin staples are some of the easiest as well as his low parry follo ups except for wall combos. No good wall splatting moves except electric and ultra unsafe and slow df4. Otherwise he's accessable af but rather weak. So if the general direction is that each new character is more and more accessible AND strong I see no reason for Jin not to be so. PS df1 should have gotten bigger range a long time ago anyways. For too long 2,1 has been rather inconsistent and could suddenly wiff on second hit.

Jin being easy is a meta marketing decision, if the game doesn’t sell because new players get gatekept for hundreds of games and not even feel like they are improving honestly fair enough why would you play or buy a game you know you just get trashed on even in the lowest ranks. Most people just want to see cool characters doing cool things and shit on their friends not much more than that. Yes, I understand your point of view that jin has become easier and is no longer that difficult, but for me, I suffered a lot in Tekken 7 B jin, but I am happy that it has become easier so that I can master it well . Yes, people who have mastered jin in Tekken 7 Sero have become bored with it. It is easy to master and everyone can play it, but for me this is a good thing because I too was suffering from the difficulty of Jin, and also one of the reasons why it became easier is because he is one of the many losing characters in Tekken 7 online and how difficult it is.

Hi, completely disagree. I myself have plenty of characters around blue ranks, emperor, tekken god prime etc. Not Jin, he's one of my most played characters but I just can't seem to get him up there with the rest. However, my Jin being hard stuck in purple/blue ranks doesn't bother me. Thing is, I'm not a good Jin player and that's fine with me. It doesn't hold me back from enjoying the character at all. He has tools that are easy to access like good punishment, a hopkick and good lows. In both T8 tests the first character i picked up was Jin and oh boy. It felt like all this time i've been practicing Jin has all been for nothing because here you go, a dumbed down character anyone can play without any effort. It doesn't feel rewarding to play Jin in this game. It doesn't make me feel good when I win with Jin in this game, because all i do is spam the 3 moves TMM mentioned and you win the game. It's as simple as that. It's good that some characters aren't easily accessible. Start off with a simpler character first so when you get good fundementals you can start playing the harder characters who give bigger rewards for learning them. That's how I went from playing claudio at T7 launch hard stuck in orange ranks to playing DVJ and Jin in purple ranks-tekken god ranks. Same in MK where i went from playing a braindead character to learn fundementals like baraka to playing shang tsung, one of the more complicated characters which was completely out of my league when i started out playing that game. Glad you're enjoying him in T8 tho. Doesn't really seem like the devs have any intentions of making any of the characters even slightly difficult anyway so my entire opinion on this is pointless.

Jin was a character that many people loved to play BECAUSE he was difficult and complex. What made playing and mastering Jin in T7 such a fulfilling experience was the fact that a win with Jin showed mastery over the game. His entire identity as a character was in the fact that he fairly rewarded the player based on their skill. In a sea of easy, low skill high reward characters, Jin was a truly honest character that was also competitive. You could win a match and be completely content knowing that you won because you were better at Tekken, not because your character carried you to victory. Now that honor and prestige is all gone and any scrub can do well with Jin. If your not willing to put in the effort to properly play such a cool character, why should you be rewarded for it? I know this all sounds incredibly pretentious, but it's how I feel about Jin as a character.
@kainslegacy666 Жыл бұрын
Dude, why would you play Jin in 7 if that's your mindset? You have literally more than half the cast if Jin is too hard for you. People like this character for the sense of satisfaction it brings to make him work right, it's not easy but it feels incredible. Thats what makes Jin so good in 7. Hard to master but rewarding at the same time. The more you master the more reward you get with this character.

If they nerf D2 and bring back the classic zen cancel of Tekken 7 and Tag 2, then T8 Jin would be perfect to me. I do agree that T8 Jin is too easy and that is what would remedy this issue

I felt proud being a jin main because he's not easy to use but now I don't think so. I hope they make him less "brain dead" i doubt it tho. Mainman is right. There are so many "easy" characters to use why do they have to take these "legacy" characters and "modernize" them? Imo it destroys the Tekken "identity". Gimme the Jin i gameplay i fell inlove with.

No, kazuya is boring cause they made almost all his new tools unsafe. B22 unsafe, db1 unsafe, his string needed nerfs but is now only a wall combo.. His F3 has a new cool animation but we can't use it cause it has no pushback and it's easily punishable

Just watching jin i have zero interest in playing him because he just looks generic gameplaywise. He lost his identity with all those flashy af moves and dragunov's best move (as if he he need that...). I sont understand the need to make ALL characters braindead and flashy. Especially in a game thats about grounded more realistic martial arts. Best part? Devil jin IS a character too. So...kazuya is flashy now but he is shit. Jin is op and plays like everyone else. Devil jin os gonna be even more bonkers and braindead. No heihachi.. The mishimas are dead. But at least i have no doubts they will leave lee the same trash super hard character. Who am i kidding, lee will play like bob but be bottom of the barrel. Why are people so hyped about tekken 8 anyway? Its like the people that were hyped about mortal kombat 1 or 11. Sure, the graphics are much better but the game is stupid and it lasted 5 months. Yay i guess?
@cesare4214 Жыл бұрын
Thats a T7 elitist opinion. We new players dont care about how many hours it took you to master a T7 character. Fighting games are about making decisions, not spend 5 years in practice mode. Thats why we get Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6 with modern controls and Project L. Fighting games are finaly getting better. No more crazy inputs.
@momop788 Жыл бұрын
@@cesare4214not that the fighting game inputs are getting better, they are becoming more easier to reel in casual players. And it’s not a bad thing, but for “elitists” it’s kind of disappointing that the combo is not rewarding because it’s easier, imagine training in fighting games for years and then boom everyone can combo through one button 😂
@NicoMambino Жыл бұрын
New players, the problem why us, Tekken players are pissed that Jin is super buffed, and hella easy to play, is cuz first off, why didn’t they do that to Kazuya? Kazuya is also a main character/main villain too, but why is he pretty hard to play as/ not beginner-friendly, and his combo damage is nerfed? The idea of main character should be easy & characters should be much easier to use now in modern gaming - it doesn’t reflect what you or Bandai Namco promised. If All characters should be easy to play, then explain Kazuya.

when main man talking about identity its like giving your charcter weakness and pros like T8 king as example very slugish not a good movment but tanky and a grabing game play no eather charcter can chalnge . i'm not sure if the poor movment is acceptable but sure its very suits the charcter design . if your charecter can do anything efficient and easy . thats a power creep ruinng the game atleast should be hard to do .

Sadly dumbing down characters is a byproduct of Tekken 8. All characters were dumbed down. Kazuya and Jin, as dumbed down as they were, are still less simple than the rest, though.
@sukunasan9441 Жыл бұрын
As a jin main, even though i don't really like him being easier to play, it's fine, i don't mind it that much, i also don't mind him being stronger, what i throughly dislike is the fact that he's VERY easy to play now, due to the strenght of 2,1,4 and D2... it really kills creativity and, at least from what we've seen in this video, he's so strong and easy that you see him more than every other match, which is a shame, cause he looks cool as hell, even able to acces classic hellsweep and electric, that's so cool... but c'mon a slight nerf to D2 and 2,1,4 so that he's not as braindead to play would be nice, he'd still be easier to play than in tekken 7 sure, if that's what they want, sure, I disagree but sure, just don't make him THAT easy to play

I think Kazuya changes are okay, that character has been boring. All I ever saw people do is his dumb spin kick attack and his charge punch, it looks like now the animations on his broken stuff is slowed down a little so you can now block that bull sht even if you don"t know the exact timing. It would be annoying having to literally fight 20 trash kazuyas just to fight a good kazuya, then when you start beating the better kazuya they just revert back to the same unlockable fast animation spam bull sht that the trash Kazuyas sit and spam.
@NicoMambino Жыл бұрын
You’re talking about the new df 3 into charge up punch with Kazuya, That’s what you felt was spammy with Kazuya? I didn’t fight a Kazuya who ever did that. In both CNT & CBT. I never found it a problem.
@rush-ingaming3341 Жыл бұрын
@@NicoMambino Idk his moves names. But when I would play tekken 7 and that free version of tekken that was on playstation. Literally every single Kazuya would do the spin kick thing, then spam his punch where he has some energy come off of it. and they would just spam it to get the most boring kick into juggle combo iv ever seen in a game. It almost would make me rather fight the yoshimitsu players that spammed his spin, then did his little sword stilts walk combo over and over, because atleast you could jump over his, or side step it. The kazuya players would just spin after you like a bay blade, then keep doing it over and over to the point where you had to beat them or let them spam. And it would just be so boring. You either beat them because they spammed or you lost to them because they spammed. It was literally the only two moves they would do, and they would spam his grapple that makes him lean you over his waist and flip you, then the screen changes the side your on. It was so annoying. I did not fight them all the time, but some days, I would get like 3 to 10 of these players in a row, or I would get the same player on a win streak while im trying to just play and have fun, or try out ranked. But these experiences basically made me hate that character, because the way he did it, and the way the dev team broke laws, both of them could just spin to win and it was annoying because they don't have slow or easy to dodge attacks.

F4 pickup should be much harder if you dont fullly commit to zen. Also its pretty stupid how he can get 80 dmg with cd1 with no walls, no rage ect. Meanwhile Kazuya struggles to do more than 70. They made Jin too easy, they shat on Kazuya. God I hope they dont ruin Lee. INB4 Lee's slide is going to be some dumb shit like FC df3. P.S Please Namco for the love of god buff backdashes PLEASE.

Mainman is not doing optimal combos. If you want to see what long Jin combos look like in t8, look at Devilsters channel. He’s definitely the most optimized Jin player in the world. Not saying the best since he’s not a professional player, but definitely the most optimized with great execution. He has beaten atif butt in a mirror match twice though and destroyed cherry berry mango in a mirror as well. Although tbf, cbm was probably out of practice with Jin.
