So, on this, my 7th or 8th time watching this video, I've come up with a question. If you don't go into that first flashing giant ring... Do you keep your Chaos Emeralds and the ability to transform into super sonic?

But what if you don't get all the Chaos Emeralds before Mushroom Hill?, you won't have a chance to collect the rest of em' and turn them Super?

@@charmyzard You deposit the ones you have in that emerald room, then you can collect the rest (but not turn super, as you won't have all of them on you). From then, you can collect the super emeralds and unlock Hyper Sonic.

Ahote if you’re sonic yes. If you’re knuckles, no. I don’t know how you would get pass the giant ring when you’re him, you just run into it with no way without going in it.

The main trick about those pulley lifts at 7:12 is to have both Sonic and Tails pull on both handles at the same time and you'll move up a lot faster.

Hyper Sonic is a little bit faster, and comes with a flash-double-jump which can move in any direction and kills all enemies on screen. It's awesome.

when i was kid sonic 3 and knuckles was hard for me but if i want to play mushroom hill i play sonic & knuckles but i couldn't notice about the super emeralds

7:26, if you go high enough with knuckles in that spot, you can fly in place and be invincible.

There's a super ring after the first little "rope swing" at 5:07 if you launch at about the 10 o'clock position instead of going around the 3 where you go.

@SuperHeroZX *Continued* Instead of generic snowbaord out of nowhere Sonic would do some snowboarding on a Metal plate that came from the Flying Battery Zone ship. While it never did happen like that it did inspire the beginning of the Hero side story in Sonic Adventure 2 where Sonic boards down the City Escape street level with the metal plate from the G.U.N. helicopter.

Here's a funny memory of mine about those weed things at 7:30. I used to think that once you got stuck in one it was pretty much game over and I'd turn off the game. When I first realized you could spin dash out of them (or glide if you're Knuckles), I gave myself such a facepalm.

@DoomGuy131 Its issues with KZbin, all Sonic games have that issue on KZbin with the emeralds (well at least the Classic ones) I don't know I think KZbin memory file size or whatever it is can't keep up with how fast the emerald blinks because in Sonic 1 Cybershell did mention something about the emeralds flashing way too fast for the video to keep up with it (though they were able to be seen in that same video) so i guess they're flashing too quick for the video to keep up.

A quick question to whoever has tried this, because I sure as hell have never thought to do it... What happens if you DON'T go into any of the New Special Zones? Do you keep all your emeralds and can keep going as SuperSonic cos you never let them go into the chamber?

Oooh I thought all that did was add Knuckles as playable in Sonic 3. I never had Sonic 3, so I assumed it did the same thing as puting Sonic 2 on top. Thanks :)

@SuperHeroZX Well I don't know where he found those but I know I read a fact from a pretty honest Sonic the Hedgehog website that calls itself Green Hill Zone after the first level from Sonic 1. It said that Flying Battery Zone was originally meant to be after Carnival Night and was supposed to be in the Sonic 3 portion of the game the transition would be from Carnival Night to Ice Cap and instead of a generic snowbaord out of nowhere Sonic would do some *2bcont.*

You probably already by now considering how old this is but in case I guess I'll answer any ways What you have is Sonic 3 alone. You need to have a Sonic & Knuckles cartridge. When you plug Sonic 3 into the top slot of Sonic & Knuckles it becomes one game - Sonic 3 & knuckles

@dockside2012 I apologize. I thought you were talking about the red Super Emerald. Yeah, Mushroom Hill has a LOT of big rings in it. It's actually possible to get all the Super Emeralds in this one zone.

You know what I usually just get all the chaos emeralds before the second half of sonic 3 & knuckles so I never knew about that particular event at the beginning of the zone. Now I kinda feel dumb being so hard press on getting all the emeralds now.

sonic mega collection does have it together, but you have to unlock it by playing sonic 3 and sonic and knuckles 50 times each

@VGCheater55 Hyper Sonic is the more badass form of Super Sonic. You're right, they both do the same thing, but a difference is that Hyper Sonic can breathe underwater. To my knowledge, that's really it.

Hyper Sonic has a second jump which launches him in whatever direction you're pressing and killing everything on the screen (and hitting all the bouncing objects). I'm pretty sure he can still drown, though.

@123Arkham Well actually I find that Sonic games trademarks for their gameplay is a good balance between being fast but still having platforming in it, you see earning speed in the games makes them fun but it does sometimes break away from speedy parts to do some platforming. I feel that Sonic games (well the classics but as for the others your milage may vary) mix speed and platforming together well after all Sonic I always think of Sonic games as a speedy platformer it just mixes the two.

Each model of SEGA Genesis uses a different sound chip and has differences in both Sound Effects and Level Songs. Certain model 1 Genesis with Headphones plugged in is the original Stereo recorded sound quality. Stock cables provided only Mono sound. This was also played on the Mega Collection on Gamecube, which used an imperfect early 2000's emulator that had many issues with accurate both sound and graphics reproduction, possibly even using BGM Samples from an inferior sound chip model Genesis.
