I believe that "groceries" commonly implies food items. You may buy non food items at a grocery store but those fall under other broad categories such as toiletries, cleaning supplies, utensils, etc. Napkins and knives fall under utensils. Napkins can also fall under paper prododucts or cleaning supplies but not groceries.
