I love how Toby built this fight. At this point you are expecting a fight and a tough one at that given how close to the end you are. I dunno, I feel like that would ruin the whole point of the Genocide Route. It's not meant to be fulfilling. It's senseless mass murder. That's it. With Undyne, it made sense because she was the only monster who could handle Determination and use it against you. But Mettaton... he's just a ghost. How is a ghost in a robotic body supposed to stand against a human that gains power from every kill? Honestly, how? Besides, can you really expect things to be totally fair when it's Toby Fox we're talking about?

Well yeah, but I feel like he deserved more. Mettaton is a star, a performer, and he I just feel like he shouldn't have gone down without a glamorous fight. Toriel and Papyrus's fights ending in one hit made sense because of their personalities, but Mettaton knew what the human was like and was fully prepared to try and stop them. As for him being a ghost inside a robot body, that is exactly why he would be able to fight on that level. He was "Alphys's Greatest Creation" after all. Being a robot capable of being upgraded and improved makes him different from most other monsters just like Undyne's ability to use Determination, and Sans's ability to cheat through the RPG rules. Frisk wouldn't be fighting a monster, they'd be fighting a weapon.

Fun Fact: although his CHECK says that he has 9 defence, Mettaton NEO actually has -40000 defence in gaming terms, giving him an even lower defence stat then Sans who has 1 Def. That means, Mettaton NEO is technically the easiest enemy in the game.

It's nothing to do with LV. Look at your stats at LV 20. Still nowhere near the damage you do here and defense you sustain. The thing is, monsters are weak to the intention of an attack, and Chara is basically Michael Myers at this point, existing solely to _end_ things. Mettaton may be robotic, but has a monster's soul, and therefore the killer intent is what does it. So a human at any LV would probably do about equally against Neo

It's at this point in the fight where the game tells you that you've become like a monster, and as merciless as one. One shotting a robot previously invulnerable via normal attacks without much force. You don't even see a broken body after you kill him (again). He's just completely gone. For those who are saying Mettaton should’ve actually had a fight, lemme tell ya, it’s just meant to show how powerful you are in the Genocide route and how you just senselessly murder everything with no hesitation, Undyne was the only monster capable of tapping into Determination, and in the Genocide route, we saw what it can do at full force, it’s the ultimate power up with much sacrifice… but Mettaton, he’s just a Ghost in a robot body, I’m honestly surprised that he was even able to show off those level of stats, that alone is actually very impressive considering that power was his own, and also keep in mind that Frisk is an EVEN higher level now then when they faced off against Undyne the Undying, so there was absolutely no possible way for Mettaton to stand any chance at all… and even tho I would’ve thought it would’ve been so cool to see that fight, it just wouldn’t have fit at all, you have to think about these kinds of things first, and that’s also what fan made fights are for, to display what a battle could’ve been like under different conditions

To me, this fight makes sense. Undertale is all about feelings, so high hopes and disappointment is also a part of it. Perhaps this also shows how much you've progressed, that you've come so far, that none can beat you in a fair fight.

Mettaton Neo's fight thematically is perfect. By this point and time, you've become so powerful even true bosses can't even stand against you. Even if they aren't 'true heros' though, people (or robots) like Mettaton will try to replicate true heros that have came before them. See how Mettaton turns into a 'final form' and gets new music? That also happened with Undyne, same theme and everything, just shorter because it isn't actually true.

Doesn’t matter since Omega Flowey has 6 human souls. Meaning 6 times your power at minimum. They would probably even be fine with siding with flowey if you do genocide route. Remember that Frisk stood no chance when Flowey became serious at full power(Before the souls rebelled against him) in Neutral Route. He broke the rules much more than Sans, to the point where you literally have no chance of even dodging an attack. Now imagine that, but now the souls think you’re a scumbag, just as much as he is, and are fine with you dying. But I could still be wrong since all of the souls could just be level one, while you’re level 10-20. That might rise if their intent to kill you does though.

The only reason the player is able to take Mettaton out in a single attack is that the game files list the defense stat as -40,000. This battle is meant to showcase the player's destructive power and make them feel unstoppable before the actual battle with Sans, which is where the game's rules are twisted onto it's head

Yeah, the problem is the bosses are way too close together, and all the best healing items are only single use, meaning if a player used all the best healing items, they would be screwed against sans

Although you can say Mettaton deserved a fight, this actually has purpose. 1. It proves how strong you’ve become and just how heartless you can be. The character doesn’t want to have fun, they want to kill. Period. 2. He’s not there to fight you, just buy time for everyone to evacuate. “But fighting would buy even more time!” In a way, maybe, but he was sacrificing himself. He knew he was going to die. 3. He “blocks the way”. That’s how the character sees him. As an obstacle in their way, kind of like Monster Kid. 4. He could’ve stayed in his block form so as to resist the hits. Again, Mettaton was a distraction. To buy time. He gets a new form in order to throw you off, at least for a couple of seconds. This is how I personally see it.
