Remember the demo where Atreus missed, and shot Kratos when he was aiming at the troll? By the end of the game, Atreus goes from level 1 scrub to MVP. XD (though we know Kratos is the MVP by default, Atreus EARNED his spot. He must be proud of his BOI. XD)

Winter Rabbit Which proves how over protective Freya was. Perfectly normal and he's taking axe blows, impalements, freezing, burning, and arrows buried so deeply in his flesh that you can't see them anymore and he keeps on going. All her spell did is drive him insane from sensory deprivation.

Not only is his archery improving but his physical combat capabilities as well and ability to be able to just combo with his father even with little to no command at that point in the game. I think what helps is that you dont have to micromanage Atreus and he actually helps during fights with his arrows and (with the right armor set) giving Kratos items. Kinda like Elizabeth from Bioshock: Infinite

God of War 2018 was the best game of the 2010's. The storytelling and character writing of The Last of Us, the combat of games like Dark Souls, the cinematography of Uncharted, and a truly underrated boss roster. The Last of Us, RDR2, BOTW, and Witcher 3 are all fantastic runner-ups, but this game triumphs above the competition. Everything this game does right is perfectly summarized by this masterpiece of a boss battle. Definitely cannot wait for Ragnarok.
