Fan of Razorfist here. You had a much better argument than what Razorfist brought up. Razorfist's argument was pretty razor thin as I realized when I fully watched both responses. You were able to factually counter his most major points: 1. It was Lincoln's intention to grab as much power for himself; The claim that Lincoln's political philosophy was to be as authoritarian as possible. 2. Lincoln advocating for atrocities against the South; the emancipation proclamation advocating for the molestation and murder of southern women; General Sherman advocating for looting, rape, and murder of civilians among his regimen; President Lincoln ordering or having knowledge of alleged war crimes, etc. 3. The economic power of the South was overstated. The difference in Razorfist's claim that the South paid 70% of Tarriffs vs the reality that the South only paid 8% of the nations Tarriffs was stark. 4. The argument that the Confederacy did not secede because of Slavery. Razorfist's major pieces of evidence were the words of 1 former Confederate soldier, and a counter theory that only "former Whig Democrats" held slavery as a reason to secede. 5. The assertion that American politics at the time universally agreed that states could secede at any time they wanted. He provided very little evidence of that claim, and none of his pieces of evidence were explicit about states seceding. Also, the right to secede wasn't proven to extend to every state in the USA. 6. I think you actually missed this flaw in Razorfist's argument. All of Razorfist's evidence of grievances the Union committed against the confederacy... happened after they seceded and declared war. The only one that happened before the Civil war was high Tarriffs. The rest of the comparison between the grievances the Confederacy had vs the American Colonies in the American Revolutionary War falls flat. There's a lot more that you made good counterarguments for. The point is you helped me look at the points made in the video more objectively. Thank you. The other Razorfist fans likely have too much confirmation bias, and too little patience to hear you out because you point out some flaws in someone they like. That is not a good reason to not listen to a counter argument.

I stumble on my words a lot, I have trouble formulating what I have in mind, and I don't have a lot of confidence when I speak. And though I'm certainly working on this, it's still pretty nice to see people who are vocally competent say exactly what I want to say. Though I admire Razor-fist in other subject matters, the Lincoln issue is still hard to swallow. Even if most of Razorfist's points were convincing enough to give me second thoughts, I think it's better to read the very source materials myself before verifying Razor-fist's position on Lincoln.

Was there more to it? Of course, the Tariff issue was probably as important as the slavery issue, but slavery was Foremost at the moment they decided to Secede. Now I enjoy Razor content as much as the next guy, but you REALLY gotta stretch to begin to claim the war wasn't about slavery. Saying the North was racist, Tariffs were also a major issue, difference in culture, etc. still doesn't invalidate slavery being at the forefront in the minds of southern elite in 1859/1860. Did every southerner fight for slavery? No, did every northerner fight to end it? No, was the war about ending slavery? No, but what a nice bonus, made all the death worth something, at least. Question: Something I do not understand. In years past, metal heads, and people of similar interest were recognized as the opposition to the state, to the "Man", and the oppression. In 2023, the Democratic party is the "Man". They want the government in your homes, they want to mold your children to their beliefs, not yours, they want to enact policies that don't help people, just make them more government dependent, and yet, although the Democratic party is everything the people of that ilk fought against and were against for so long, what happened that those same people are now predominately supporting the very same policies that they were against, often being the standard bearer. Just wondering.

What would be wrong with planning responses? That just means you think before you speak. All debates should be like that. It is quite an erroneous mindset (unfortunately propagated by much of media) that the quicker you respond the more 'right' your response 'must' be. This leads to 'debates' where the person who interrupts more and is more vulgar is considered the 'winner' regardless of the content of what comes out of their mouth.

And in an opposite fashion, Louis Pasteur got his education in Mathematics and Chemical Physics but would go on to be one of the 3 Fathers of Microbiology despite "experts" at the time disagreeing with The Germ Theory Of Disease and his biology-related work could be unethical since he wasn't an MD (like creating the Rabies Vaccine).

@@blueberrymcphuckerson9821 I mean, this is definitely what you should do. @Requiemxtoxinnocence ...This is exactly the case here ( _Appeal to Authority_ [AtA])... The OP is using AtA to justify the arguments of one side while dismissing the arguments of another side who is not accredited expert. An expert is someone you go to start with the information you're looking for and you have expectations for them. However, you should also listen and pay attention carefully because experts are human and humans have flaws (biases, misremembering, the human-nature to avoid embarrassment, personal incentives, etc.). Earlier today I was watching a video from Girl With Dogs on a grooming a Labador/Doodle mix who's hygiene was moderately-neglected due to the owner's financial hardships. According to the YTer, she stated the owner informed her that a previous groomer (a fellow expert) stated that to shave the dog (due to matting) alone it would take roughly 3 hours and the dog would have to be under sedation. The YTer was able to shave the dog in ~32 minutes without sedation then continue the cleaning under 3hrs... This VtH has convinced me in some ways, but he uses his authority to cover his weaknesses in some of his arguments and shitty debating skills. For examples: Literally lost count how often he strawmanned Razorfist if not flatout ignored him at some parts explaining his points. Like implying Razorfist, an AnCap/Libertarian, would not be against the crimes of Andrew Jackson. This VTH literally would immediately fail his own rules he set: *"If you need an hour to explain something, chances are you're full of shit."* *_Goes on to make a total runtime of ~2.5 hrs of video across 3 videos arguing "Why the Civil War was just about Slavery"._* Roughly, think, 23 minutes into this video he goes through the Confederate States' Declarations of Indepence and sets a rule "Chances are the first thing they bring up is what they cared about.". *_When the motherfucker gets to South Carolina's (himself saying that state started and led the secession), he blatantly skips the 1st Topic Paragraph talking about State's Right > Federal Rights and goes to the second supporting paragraph talking about slavery._* Jesus Fucking Christ, dude. Actually put effort to think instead of being intellectually lazy and only being satisfied with someone's position of Authority. You think in 2023 "Conspiracy Theorist" is an insult? You do understand that many of the atrocities we know the U.S. Government did were once Conspiracy Theories until brave motherfuckers pushed through the stigma and smear attacks? Examples: Tuskegee Syphilis Experiments. FBI trying to kill MLK Jr. via blackmailing him into suicide. CIA-Funded 1980's Crack Epidemic on Black America to aid the Contras. NSA Widespread Domestic Spying (literally remember growing up in the 2000's how people laughed that shit off until Snowden dropped the objective proof) Gulf of Tonkin being a False-Flag. Lufthansa being lied about to get the US into WWI. Operation Sea-Spray. Operation Northwoods. MK Ultra. Fucking COVID being manmade. Holy shit my guy; using the term "Conspiracy Theorist" seriously as a dismissive insult is the Gold Standard indication that someone's a genuine easily-manipulated useful-idiot that can be manipulated by bullshit ego-stroking his pseudo-intellect.

There was some insane stuff there, like "Lincoln was right about one thing, black people" with tons of likes, meanwhile I saw literally zero criticism directed at the video, other then 1 comment only 36 minutes old at the time. This tells me that the creator is actively removing every comment that's not praising him or the video. It's insane how cultish that comment section looked like. Razorfist, at best, reminds me of a freshman-sophomore college student taking intro to US history courses and making it his mission to argue every point of the professor from the POV of his ideological (probably anarcho-capitalist) lens. He has some grasp of elements of history and basic argumentation, but scratching below that thin veneer can easily trounce the bulk of what he's aiming to do. I'm sad to say, that while at university during those years I did some of the same things which is why I chose that analogy. The difference is that mostly everybody grows out of it as you become more self aware and empathetic and rigorous and discerning with further experience. But, he leaned into it and let that nonreflective behavior petrify to be the basis for trash-to-subpar yt content. If I were you VTH, I'd just not touch his stuff at all from now on. You won't find good-faith interactions with him nor his followers, as the whole of them are deeply trapped in that dynamic and they don't seek experience or knowledge outside the echo chamber they've curated. Many will hopefully grow out of it naturally but otherwise it's best to let it go.

I follow the rageaholic. Razor has admitting on livestream on a few occasions to being the person who did raise his hand and get into discussions with professors about things, which was probably easy in college since they only seem to employ shrieking leftists on the complete ideological opposite of his stances. I think it's more he saw that it entertained his classmates enough and probably sparked the idea to do it more for entertainment on youtube. I would honestly personally agree with his stance on an ideal America/western society being one granting a free market and people more personal power and freedom in the political process and their own societies, it is something truly more revolutionary and never been fully accomplished even in America's history. But I think he does get caught up in starting to twist some things into further supporting his ideas and since he's known as "the rageaholic" makes it so he would rather lash out to deflect even good faith criticism rather than hearing people out.
