Great job on showing us how to adjust the idle/carb.

Pretty good ?!?! It looks awesome !! Nice job on that old mower. That's good for another 30 plus, as long as the new owner takes care of it.

They can last a very long time if you take care of them. 😎👍

Just picked up an stx30 to work on and restore. Needs some work, and has the same leaking issue. Thanks for your videos, as this will help me with fixing up mine. Hoping there’s still lots of running time on my Koehler, they seem to be a strong engine.

Thanks for watching. Keep the oil changed in then and they are decent engines. Some have lifter noise, but it's not a huge deal to fix that.

How did I miss this upload?! Nice looking machine. You got me into fixing up tractors. I picked up an stx 46 for myself after having two 38s. Fantastic machine, cuts great. I also got a jd 165 hydro as well. That one needs a bit more work, but I'm having fun with it.

I haven't had an STX46 yet myself. Have fun!

Thanks Larry. My customer has had this machine for a while now, and he loves it. It's built well, just like the STX38 is, but just made narrower.

Love your excellent videos! I need a wheel for the STX30 which my local JD dealers says are no longer available. Do you know where I could get a used one ? Maybe from you or any of your loyal viewers. Please let me know. Much thanks for all you do!!

I wouldn't be able to say where to get one off the top of my head. Maybe someone will read your comment and be able to help. Thanks for watching!

Can you do an in-depth video of setting up the carb and the throttle cable ect

I do have an STX38 here in the yard (same engine setup) that I will be going over soon. Not sure when it will upload though, I will try to get some details on the throttle setup

I have almost the same one,,,was gonna give my buddy good coin for it, was mint and garage kept. On the way over the mint hood blew off on the highway!! One of the front wheels is rubbing on the front end, other than that it just needs some maintenance, its been sitting. I like Krylon paints cuz they are fast dry and in my shop I use them when in a hurry but the colors are way off. Rustoleum Implement is better paint and color is better as well. Terrific job!!! Just found the channel the other day

Thanks Bruce. The STX series units were wildly popular, and are still great machines.

@@randomwrenching I have gotten intimate with the black deck one. I recovered one for a friend 6 years ago and service every year since. He is rough on it but admits he is.

I have a 1989 STX30 that I got 5 years ago for $400. It still runs great but we’re trying to do some maintenance on it. Where do you purchase air filters and replacement blades from? I think we’re also needing a new belt. I love my little rider that’s only a year younger than me 😆
@randomwrenching Жыл бұрын
For John Deere parts, I go to the JD website and use their parts lookup to find the part numbers they use. Then, you can search using that number on Amazon or wherever. OR just get a filter and a blade from your closest John Deere dealer. The quality is good for just a little extra $

Do you know of a link to find instructions on how to level the mower deck?
@kaybee16827 ай бұрын
When you put the deck back on, how did you get the adjuster to raise and lower the deck. My dad and I are working on one but the deck won't raise and lower.
@randomwrenching7 ай бұрын
I'm not sure what would cause that. I didn't have a problem with the one I was working on.

Just bought one of these from my neighbor for 50 bucks. Battery doesn't seem to want to charge and a front tire doesn't hold air but for 50 bucks and I know it was otherwise well maintained.
