Looks good. Usually model/miniature paint Is the best whenever decals on helmets. Helmets weren't issued with insignia they were done by the soldiers themselves so I wouldn't be worried if the insignia is a little off

Maybe a good Advice for next decals: Paint the first layer with the maincolor of the helmet. Let it dry like it was your first layer of white then go ahead with white. The Maincolor should now drip on the edges (like your first white layer) so you dont have to clean the edges. Used this Technic a lot in Wallpainting - always worked for me.

Peelable vinyl is best for stencils as it’ll stick to surfaces but will be able to be peeled with no residue left on top

I went to Winnipeg for D-Day 50th anniversary 1994 with minnesota national guard. To give support for our Canadian friends. (I was active at the time. A very emotional time for the Canadians. Winnipeg units suffered many casualties in the war.. the old canadian colone who had been at D-dayl said to us. "To my American friends, what can I say, I called an you are here" we all said "hoo-ah"....

For future paint jobs I’d recommend using masking tape as it isn’t as stick as duck tape which might ruin the helmet finish and is much easier to work with

Hey world war wisdom if I buy the paint from j Murray 1944 do I need to spray the whole helmet or can I use a paint brush? OD green. Would it look different if you use spray paint or a brush.
@WorldWarWisdom2 жыл бұрын
It works much better if you spray it on, but you might be able to apply it with a brush depending on what you are doing. If you don’t want to use a spray gun, I’d recommend buying an OD green paint that comes in a spray paint can from someone like Rapco or Hessen Antique.
