On the moment where Komaru and Toko slip about Aoi’s brother’s death, Icould see it happening some time after the death of Fujisaki. One of them could say something like “Dang, I can’t believe we lost another hostage” and Ali could ask “ Wait, you guys already lost a hostage? Who was it?” And Toko and Komaru would realized they slipped up and just have scared shit on what to do.

I would prefer it if the Remnants of despair (besides Komeade) weren’t in this rewrite. Its just that to have so many named characters from the franchise would shine a light on Towa city whereas it should just be one part of a larger story. It is much more interesting of a concept. In addition, one idea I have is to emphasize the internal changes to Komaru as each chapter goes on. Particularly her cold-heartedness after defeating Jataro. The point of the story was for Monica to make Komaru fall into despair to become Junko-2. We could have Komaru enter the heart of darkness as she fights for survival. Maybe tie this to the abilities she unlocks? I’m really just spit balling but having the fall into despair be slow & meticulous is more interesting than Komaru snapping at finding out that her parents are dead.

I think for Toko’s version of mp there could be like a confidence meter? Like the more actions she does the more of her confidence is used up, and the amount of confidence she has upgrades naturally throughout the game as she goes through her presumed character development and gets closer to the girls (there should be team up moves like in persona 5 Royal and Komaru and Toko’s one that they unlock in the late game after the komaru/Jill fight, should be them being gayyyyyy)

I think maybe for toko a sort of “confidence gauge” for her moves could work. Toko is quick to panic and has low self esteem and while stuff like patching up wounds is not physicly taxing it takes focus, something toko can’t always muster. She could have a move like aoi’s take a break that restores some cp. (could be called self assure) but it whould not be as effective. Instead she could also gain cp when enemies are damaged/defeated, each fallen monokuma a quick morale boost for both her and the others. Im also not a game desinger but i think it thematiclky fits toko somewhat

Personally, I think it would have been cool to have izuru as the games super boss. Having him change stances every turn to counter physical or special attacks. And since he has "ultimate talent" he could even use the players skills against them

TinyLeaf, this is how I would rewrite all game’s survivors: In trigger happy havoc, I would replace Yasuhiro as a survivor with Kiyotaka. The reason is one, I love him, and two, Kiyotaka’s death was such a missed opportunity, imagine how much grief the character’s could have had when discovering his body, I don’t hate Celeste that much, or Hifumi, but I hate how Kiyotaka who is probably in the top five kindest characters in the game’s would die while in the middle of character growth. Also, a lot of roles that Yasuhiro had could be played out by other characters, and Kiyotaka dying makes both Mondo’s sacrifice worthless, and it makes Chihiro’s sacrifice have less worth as well. Also, in each game we need a gay character surviving. Because.. gay. In Goodbye Despair, I would replace Sonia with Hiyoko as a survivor. Which means that Sonia would be the chapter three victim. (Also I think it would be a cool dynamic for chapter four, like imagine Kazuichi grieving Sonia’s death, and Gundham is there to support Kazuichi through his grief. Also Kazuichi is canonically bisexual so maybe he could catch feelings for him maybe?? I don’t know, and then Gundham could see Kazuichi dying from hunger and then he decides to battle Nekomaru, and whoever is the culprit gets to save him. Gundham makes the ultimate sacrifice. I could imagine Kazuichi being so heartbroken knowing both his favorite people had died, and I could imagine Hiyoko and Fuyuhiko and Akane helping him through his grief. Because Hiyoko lost Mahiru and Sonia, and Fuyuhiko lost Peko. Akane lost Nekomaru, and Kazuichi lost Sonia and Gundham. This would fix a lot of the survivors development, and to make them better people. Also Hiyoko lost her gf and Kiyotaka lost his bf so they would be friends and it would be wholesome). In Killing Harmony, I want to make two separate experiences within the game, where after you beat the game once, the game asks you when you make a new save file, “Do you want to play as Shuichi or Kaede?” If you pick Kaede, you get the regular games story where Kaede is executed in chapter one, and Shuichi carry’s on her promise she gave to him. Which would have the survivors end up being Shuichi, Himiko, and Maki. And I actually like this set of survivors a lot, they all had major development, and Himiko was a very unexpected and unique survivor. However, if you pick Shuichi, in chapter one you wake up and start shaking the locker that you are in, and you fall to the ground, and you are greeted by Kaede Akamatsu. She helps you, and you embark upon your adventure. Anyways, the death order is different. In chapter one, Shuichi kills Tsumugi. Rantaro and Shuichi get into a argument with each other, Rantaro is suspicious of Shuichi, and Shuichi is suspicious of Rantaro. Tsumugi comes out of her secret door, and tries attacking them both, but Shuichi and Rantaro overpowers her and interrogate her, she tells that she was planning on killing Rentaro and sacrificing Kaede and tells Shuichi that she is willing to kill them both if it continues the killing game, Shuichi kills her and he is found out during the trial, Kaede gets Shuichi’s wish and becomes the new protagonist and figures out the murder. In chapter two Korekiyo gets murdered by Tenko, and it’s a attempt to save Himiko (her gf) from being murdered. Then in chapter three the victims are Kirumi and Gonta, and the culprits are Angie, and Ryoma. Ryoma accidentally kills Kirumi after she makes a mistake while planning a murder, and Gonta is killed by Angie. Ryoma slowly gets the will to live throughout the story, and sort of befriends Maki and she being the Ultimate Assassin and how Ryoma knows yet doesn’t tell anyone, she decides to hide Kirumi’s corpse in a place that is hard to find, Gonta’s body is discovered first, after that Kirumi, and Angie is executed while Ryoma lives. In chapter four, Maki and Kaito die and their killers are.. each other. And Miu is executed for breaking the rules. In chapter five Keebo is killed by Kokichi, and Himiko is sacrificed. Willingly. They learn that it’s all fake, and that their personalities were all fabricated to fit the narrative of Danganronpa, so in a way, they are actually dying, but only their personalities are, in reality they are all talentless obsessed Danganronpa fans that will wake up in real life with their true memories and become strangers again. Himiko is sacrificed to be with Tenko again, and the survivors are Kaede, Rantaro, and Ryoma.

About the turn based attack replacement you made, as someone who avidly watches Persona gameplays and is a pretty invested Honkai star rail player, and not to mention a pretty passionate writer myself….yeah here we go Komaru being equipped with the hacking gun, she’s the jack of all trades. The change I would add to the story is that the gun originally only had a few options: Bullseye-shoots a powerful beam at 1 enemy Knock back-fires a large blast at all enemies abeit less powerful than bullseye with a base chance of stunning an enemy/enemies for a turn Charge-use 1 turn to build up hacking gun power to raise atk for the next (turn/turns) Instead of Nagito’s bit of nerfing the hacking gun at the beginning of the game for (balancing purposes), we meet Kazuichi instead fiddling with the gun making some upgrades out of boredom, giving us the more unique moves along the way besides the merchant role you given him. In turn for these special upgrades however, this is when the game implements the Mana gauge you were talking about. The price to pay for these upgrades could be that you have to defeat a certain number of enemies Kazuichi sets on you to “test them out” Dance- consumes a lot of mana to shoot a beam at a non boss enemy to make them dance for the remainder of battle Drain- consumes some mana to lower an enemies atk for the next few turns Bug- consumes some mana to aim a disorienting beam at all enemies that are able to make their next few attacks miss, do less damage, or even hurt themselves and fellow nearby enemies Brainwash- consumes a lot of mana to shoot a brainwashing beam at a non boss enemy to temporary be apart of your team for the next few turns. The list goes on and on as the game continues Toko as you mention is the grumpy support character who heals the party (only physically not mentally) and derails the enemies in battle. However she is also the tank. (I’m so sorry Toko) Since Toko as we know it was a child of endless abuse growing up, her mental fortitude and overall constitution is actually incredibly strong, making her able to resist damage and have a higher, if not the highest HP of the team. I’d also want to involve her talent as a writer, her having an ability to analyze enemies and guess their weaknesses and move set. Shut up and let me help you- Heals an ally a considerable amount. Absolutely hopeless- raises the DEF of an ally for the next few turns. I don’t know how to use this just take it just in case you stupid little- Gives the party Genocider scissors that hurts enemies when they atk an ally with them Your mom- aggravates enemies towards specifically towards Toko Only an ugly dirty poop stained orangutan could love you- lowers all enemies DEF for the next few turns You probably still sleep with your parents- Scans enemies for their weakness and move set As For where Genocider jack comes in, I would also switch from Toko having a stun gun to a literal shock collar (cuz it’s Toko) that has a set timer in between when Toko switches to Genocider and back for safety reasons, since I find it hard to believe Genocider would taze herself, willingly leaving it to Toko to handle the situation even if Byakuya told her to do so, since she worries about her survival as well. In battle, Genocider Jack would be akin to a Burst Mode for Toko, switching her kit entirely for a damage dealing one. Genocider due to her enhanced speed and strength, and not to mention the countdown, would have back to back turns once on the field, the number of turns depending on what attacks are used, as she has no time to spare. After turning back, Toko would be temporarily “dead” for the next few turns after Genocider mode has finished RUSH HOUR- Fires an onslaught of scissors onto all enemies randomly (most time) MASTER BYAKUYA- carves a huge heart into 1 enemy causing major damage (normal time) BYAKUYAKUYAKUYAKUYAKUYA- increases speed to add more turns to Genocider X marks the spot- slices all enemies (least time) As for Aoi, she’s a bit of an interesting unit as I thought of her to be valued most to exploring areas since she’s an athlete, a swimmer nonetheless. Aoi in battle would have more turns than Toko and Komaru since she’s at normal, the fastest of the gang, and could get in attacks more even between enemy units. Due to having such a close friendship from previous events and as you said, now being able to bite back against Toko’s antics, she’s also able follow up an attack from an enemy as a passive skill. For not having as unique moves as the rest of the party, she’s a valued unit for her frequency. As for her two main lines of defense, the street pipe and new profound use in martial arts, Aoi would have moves in cost of not being able to use them for the next few turns, making her use her other moves. Street pipe swing- swings pipe at 1 enemy dealing heavy damage Metal twirl- Swings pipe round and round all enemies dealing damage Block- covers ally with the street pipe, shielding them from an enemy’s attack for the next few turns or until the shield breaks (unable to use street pipe until it ends) Sakura Punch- punches enemy many times consecutively with a base chance of slowing them down, delaying the next few turns (Aoi’s arms get tired so she must resort to kicks next turn) Aoi kick- delivers strong kicks to 1 enemy. (Aoi’s legs get tired so she must resort to her arms next turn) As for the guest characters who come in temporarily, there exists assisting units in the background who help in fights: Yuta- runs circles around enemies enough times to heavily disorient them, making enemies accidentally use their attacks on each other, or buff your own party instead of their own. Taichi- hacks into enemies, delivering all sorts of viruses and bugs into their system, debuffing enemies greatly Nagisa- lists the enemies exact next moves in battle These are definitely not the full overall kits of each party member, or future assisting characters, but hopefully this is helpful enough for a battle system!

Funnily enough I have had a conversation with friends about a hypothetical UDG sequel that involved 3 playable girls and boss fights with the remnants of despair. We ended up going above and beyond our initial expectations and had a lot of ideas that utilizes everyone’s qualities and personalities in interesting ways. In any case it’s great to see you again and I hope you have a great summer.

If i might throw my hat into the ring; in bringing back the "demons" like Kenshiro, Takaaki, Takemichi, ect, they might have little bonuses to help you out either in battles or in navigating the world around based on their backgrounds. Takaaki is an old cop, of course; maybe now hes at the resistance camp hes got an old taser that he doesn't need anymore that you can take to Kazuichi and get affixed to the hacking gun or something, or give go Toko? Orrrrrr maybe he could give Komaru some sharp shooting training, increasing her aim? Takemichi is one of the higher-ups in the crazy diamonds, maybe he can make sure that you get either more quickly or more safely to risky previous locations (in order to catch up with one of the remnants as they'll be difficult to track down.) Maybe Kenshiro can help train Aoi to be stronger/ more efficient with martial arts. This could also work to give a physical reward to the player for rescuing the "demons", as well as adding some flavour text about the characters that theyre closest to? Togami's closest was his butler, so maybe he could help Toko build up her skills in supporting the group? Also with Toko's closest being her pet stink bug, maybe you could have a sweet moment between Aoi and Toko after they've saved her from kidnapping where Aoi actually returns Kameko to her? It was a moment of kindness from Toko that Aoi wasn't expecting, and so if you do this little sidequest Aoi then returns that little unexpected moment of kindness to Toko. These are all just ideas that im spitballing, but yknow. Some thoughts?

making UDG’s combat system turn-based is a GENIUS move, especially when considering how the creators were worried about their player base finding too much difficulty with a shooter-style gameplay. Also overall, it would work a lot better with the style of the rest of the game.

I actually did a whole AU/rewrite of UDG, where instead of Komaru and Toko, it's Sayaka and Leon. Basically, they go up against the Remnants while trying to find their captives, and I even worked out chapter titles and which Remnant is the boss of each area. The Prologue (Lost in the Towa Mists) would be setting up the plot, then Chapter 1 (Sick of Your Games) would be going up against Kazuichi, where they try to restablish contact with Hiro and Kanon (who got lost during the Prologue). Then in Chapter 2 (Height Changes, Hearts Don't) they'd (ironically) be trying to help Hiyoko, who believes her friends have abandoned her to chase their own despair. In Chapter 3 (Reunion in a Blood-Stained Bar), Sayaka and Leon would be making their way to Hiro and Kanon, but constantly set upon by Ibuki, who they eventually reunite with Hiyoko at the end. (From Chapter 4 on, there'd be a couple new battle music tracks that are a mix of rock and more traditional music. Chapter 4 (Inter Arma Enim Silent Leges [In Times of War, the Law Falls Silent]) would feature an antagonistic Sonia, who's struggling to reconcile with the fact that she deliberately failed her most important duty and developed some unhealthy coping mechanisms (read: trying to kill Sayaka and Leon). At the end, she admits defeat and reveals that Gundham is believed MIA by most of the Remnants, asking to pass him a message if the duo does see him. And lastly in Chapter 5 (Who Mourns the Forgotten?), there's no apparent enemy at the beginning, but feral creatures start joining the Monokumas in attacking the two. By the end, they see a person who's joined by the previously retreated Kazuichi, and who speaks exclusively through the latter. Then it's revealed to Gundham. When the main crew is all accounted for and the threats have been dealt with, the Epilogue (Once the Road be Traveled, Twice the Road be Remembered) would play, and there'd be a somewhat bittersweet ending. That's what I have. It's not really UDG, but it was vaguely based on it, so I thought I'd shoot for brownie points at the very least.

No offense, but if you want to make toko a support but still have her use jack, you should probably take a book out of final fantasy 7 or 9 and have each character have a limit bar. Or in the case of this game, a "hope and despair" bar. Each character could have both hope and despair build as they do actions (hope through good combat commands and despair through being close to death) and when the bar is full, you can perform a special action or move. For example, if toko builds up enough hope, she could give a multi turn buff to the other girls. But if she builds up despair, she turns into Jack and performs limit breaks

I feel like there are so many fundamental aspects of the story that break it, it needs a whole thematic and conceptual rewrite to become something good. I think if you wanted to maintain the game's edgier feel, turnbased combat would make more sense so long as it's balanced like Darkest Dungeon or something where you're very limited, there are a lot of random or unpredictable variables, and you genuinely don't want to fight everything because you don't have enough resources. I also think it works better for a story about Komaru feeling limited and cowardly, since you could design it in a way where Komaru is easily the weakest unit, and the gameplay is often more about the other 2 protecting her and blocking hits for her or drawing aggro from her, while her moveset focused on ways of trying to survive, waste time, and maybe get some minor support tools, and if Komaru goes down, its game over. I think for designs, idk. Like, I think for the story as a whole, Future Foundation being this clean cut organization that wears suits is really stupid. Everything in the plot of this game fails to make sense with the existence of Future Foundation as they are. They can only make nonsense excuses for why FF isn't more involved, or why any of this is happening. It makes more sense to me for FF to be a rugged rebel alliance type thing, with limited resources and unclear management with lots of different opinions from the members of what they should do, so you can have ideological divides explain their inaction at certain points, which would be more in line with DR2 where we learn that Makoto had a difference of opinion from them about saving the remnants. Komaru's design in the original game is made to be edgy, but in a sexual way instead of a violent way. She's wearing this uniform that's too small for her, so she has this cute look, but also one of the shortest skirts ever without it looking like it was meant to be short because of how high waisted it is. It's made to be the lewd taboo mix between young innocent cute and sexualized, so I thought you might've wanted to change it to be more edgy in a survivalist way. I like Toko's design because it works for the survival tone but it also clearly expresses that this woman hasn't taken a bath in 4 years. I think with a cast of 3 leads, and a major overhaul of the entire stupid plot and the stupid Monaca plan that makes no sense and the stupid corny overdramatized forced thematic push about being weak or whatever and just how weirdly sterile the plot is across most of the game, and also Komaeda and his stupid 4D chess galaxy brain contrived-ass plan, it could be changed to a much different tone of story. I actually think it could feel less connect to the prior games, and instead feel lile you're stepping into the shoes of a little normal person who just has to deal with the planet-spanning consequences of the actions of ultimates, so less like you're influencing anything, and more like you're just trying not to die in the midst of war between despairs and FF people. I think the 3 main leads could be interesting and fit the edgy tone, because you can have tight group tension, and the threat of real consequences. Like, fuck it, why not have something like Toko losing an eye happen in this story? Why not have consequence? And there could be an edgier dynamic to Komaru too, like, maybe she's sometimes willing to lie or hide things to keep her protectors around for her own survival?

As a fan of Udg just as it is......I am actually looking forward to this! It sounds cool so far, Im not sure if I directly have many ideas opinions, but I do like the idea! I actually am doing something samilar in my own unique way lol. But here's some ideas sorry if there bad. What if the renaments themselves never showed up but some sort of henchman did, it could still use the the ideas you stated in the video, and it gives a nice excuse to do character design if you like that. I could imagine these henchmen would look samilar but different, they would be lore wise replacements for the renments of despair to stick fear into mutiple place and cause chaos and hysteria, because the renmants have to work overtime since Junko's dead, they all "arranged" a look a like henchman. It would still make it to where the renmants dont physically appear, but are referenced and sorta represented in a new way. Sorry if its a dumb idea my brain just rolls this stuff out. You know what's something I'd want from an UDG rework? It's a very inconsequential thing and kinda fanservice-y, but this is a spin-off fanservice game so I feel like I have the right. I want the fact that Komaru can see ghosts to actually be utilized in-game by her seeing or feeling the presence of the dead characters from THH when you pick up the card of their loved one. And then when she hands it over to Hiroko she tells her a message from the spirit that she should relay the loved one once they're rescued. It's kinda silly, especially with the dark tone of UDG, but I think it would be sweet. A little hope to counter the despair, one might say.

I love all these ideas, but one thing I’d do different is have Mikan be a very different person from how we see her in dr2 and the dr3 anime. My reasoning being that Junko’s death completely broke her. I think it’d be cool to see her in the same position as nagito, directly helping the warriors of hope since Monaca is a possible successor to junko but during that help she would be a husk of a person, barely even speaking outside of when it’s necessary.

I loved your ideas! I think the thing that this game needs the most (apart from changing the questionable writing) is the remnants as actual characters, and you were pretty spot on! I just want to say that Hiyoko would probably be Ibuki's backup dancer, as I think it is established in the anime. Also Gundham taking control of a zoo/petting zoo? (I just love Gundham and want to see him in the story -) But if we make it a turn based rpg, I think we could have side quests involving the different remnants! Like what you said about Mahiru.

after hearing your take on how syo would be integrated into the turn based combat system, it kind of makes me wanna throw in my two cents. personally, I would style syo’s combat integration after aigis’s orgia mode in persona 3’s battles. just like in p3, when you use toko to switch to syo, her attack and accuracy/evasion are significantly increased while her defense is significantly decreased, she’s locked to only using offensive moves, and she’s non controllable. also toko’s “mp” in this instance can be how many times she even can switch to syo before needing to heal. I think it should cost a lot of mp, like 25-30% of total mp per switch to discourage just switching to syo and letting the game play itself. also for overworld gameplay, I think the puzzle bullets (e.g move, detect, link) should stay and just using a basic shot to initiate battles with an advantage. and though I don’t mind third person games that much, I’d still pull the camera back a little because the fov is not good

I can't help but feel like aoi should be a support while toko should be melee In fact, Toko could battle fully as Genocide Jack/Jill, and instead, just be nerfed. While I get why your version would work in the story, I feel like it partially sidelines aoi's incredibly supportive personality, while also the fact that genocide Jack is already a melee character in the base game. Either way, I love the way you did it!

I see good points in your gameplay but it is not my style so I would like to introduce my style of a gameplay My style is 1st person shooter with tactic There would be a option to play 3rd person but I would encourage the player to play the 1st I would create that some bullets are better/best for some type of enemies Remember those enemies are monokumas Also I would make that player needs to figure out which enemy they need to kill first then second and etc I know some people would have problems with it so there is my solution In chapter 1 you have enemy A weak to bullet A Then throrough the chapter you encounter more those enemies and then you have enemy B who is weak to bullet B And then I would mix those two enemies Then another enemy is introduced And then at the end of the chapter you will fight a swarm Then chapter two you are introduced to more new enemies and then they are mixed with previous ones And at the end of each chapter you fight a swarm You fight a swarm so the player is required to dance around enemies while killing the enemies that are the most dangerous Ofc those enemies are much more aggresive than monokumas in udg Some of then are very fast so those are need to be take care of first for example I also would add hit scanners but those are the weakest with dealong dmg so dont worry Also their accuracy would drop the further you are from them But I would add them with the fast ones so you have to dodge them Genocide jack is only a panic button but you cant use her frequently so players would have think were is the best time to use her Well the story for me is mostly the same I would remove the sexual stuff from the backstories and that game with komaru Remnants I dont think they should be here Aoi can work here but idk what I would do with her She can be a fighter but I would have to change the strategy So I would make that when komaru is kidnapped by kotoko you play as aoi with gen jack as your support The same strategy with enemies stats would be the same Aoi would be introduced at the end of chapter 2 I would make so many sections where you can play as her(a lot of them so she is not underutulized) I would not change anything else in story cause for it is good and monaca is the best mastermind for me(yes better than junko) cause 1 she has a lot of screentime 2 we see how manipulative she is 3 we see how active she is in the story 4 and her plan is genius with some hiccups but junko had more hiccups So those would be mine changes Not a lot but at least there are some

I really like kotoko, I’m not a fan of the pantie shots or anything like that but I do hope you keep her being hyper sexual. I was a victim of CSA and it made me hyper sexual especially when I was younger closer to when it happened. Having her like that actually gave me a character to relate to and showed that I wasn’t alone I’m those feelings. I really liked your redesign! It’s super cool!

“I’m sure there are some gamers who think it’s fun.” I am one of those gamers yes me, I have played many schut games so I had no issues with third person shooter type combat, though some of the optional puzzles had me scratching my head ngl Toko uses mental or social energy because she has shitty social skills which gets bigger as the game goes on It would also be really cool if the Remnants had simplistic names like how Nagito is called Servant(Nurse, Coach, Mechanic, Photographer, Gymnast, Rockstar, Cook etc) Will say for Haiji, you could just make the dude not a pedophile, I’ve seen people say they would like him if he wasn’t a pedophile(which is a no brainer)….I’ve heard people pose the idea of taking the age obsession thing in the other direction and have him be a dude crazy for cougars instead of children

I think the other remanents of dispeir could be some kind of "ultimate attack" Fuyuhiko kuzuryu: fuyuhiko use a machine gun and cause multiple little damage hits Peko pekoyama: peko cause massive damage bit only a one enemie Hiyoko sajonji: hiyoko dance and buffs stats Gundham Tanaka: gundham summon a animal stampede (l know) and cause big damage to all enemies Sonia nevermind: Sonia phone novoselic's army and bombs the field causen massive damage to enemies and alies

Can't change komaru's design because her whole starting thing is that she is a normal girl with no distinct characteristics. Tokos outfit is neet, but a love how toko keeps her hair down is eqg, which makes sense because she doesn't really care about her looks. Also you have to make sure you can see the scares on tokos legs a little bit. Aoi is not breaking through a monokuma with a led pipe. Also, adding a new character would have so much more dialog for every collectable which would suck. Toko as a medic I just like what it doesn't fit her at all as she does not care for anybody but her master and later komaru. She doesn't even see the other survivers as friends in udg. Adding more remnants would not make sense as they are supposed to be scattered around the world. Also, Monika is not the successor yet, so why would they listen to her. Aoi and toko fighting the whole game would get annoying and the chapter 4 kidnapping feels ridiculous. Aoi already had a lot of focus in the v3 anime. The only thing i like about this rewrite is the gamplay change.

Despite this being a video for April Fools, I unironically like your take on UDG! Anyways, I hate this game and I feel bad for making my older brother buy it for me. When I first played this game I was like "WHOA GIRLS THAT FIGHTS ROBOTS SO COOL!!" and the more I was playing it, the more uncomfortable I was getting. It got me wondering why this game is legal. (Also no, it's not about the "yogurt gore", I'm actually fine with gore media)

Tjrjwjnw youre ideas are so good??? Anyways imma just add some details here that i woudlve loves to see too (low key just thoughts i ha dduring the video). First, i think itd be fun if we additional, probably temporary, party memebers for certain segments of the game. This is where the side characters like Mr. Fujisaki and more come in. Alongside finding them while traveling, for a brief momment they'll join the gang to fight alongside them! I think itll help get mroe attached to said characters and just be a bit fun. Second, i was thinking of getting chances to save both yuta and mr fujisaki, perhaps in branching pathes you have dialouge options that csn prevent their deaths (maybe for mr. Fujisaki if you give the hit list card before hand, you'll see him back at camp rescued, but obviously severely injured.) Personally, i didnt really like how we were introduced to important new characters and they just kinda immdietely die as soon as we meet them? Like ik its Danganronpa but it just felt rushed because as a player, we knew characters like Toko Komaru, and in this Hina, wouldn't die so, i think having a way to save these characters would really help.

It’s a supplementary manga that takes place before DR3 where the future foundation and their different diversions are the main focus, the primary plot doesn’t really make sense, but I’d love to see you make a video on it since it’s not really talked about.

my only problem with turn based is that it's trying to be like resident evil. I PERSONALLY woulda went for splitting up the gameplay. in komaru levels it's fully survival, not much combat or dealing with enemies and more getting around and solving puzzles without getting caught. and the toko/sho levels would be proper hack n slashes. like dmc or bayonetta. and the levels would accomodate having this playstyle

Honestly the idea to add more teammates didn’t even come to me and I like it a lot. I prefer stories with a team dynamic of about 3-6 characters more than other dynamics. This group size is big enough to explore more complex group dynamics but small enough to make the group feel close and personal with each other.

this one's more like a really wishful expansion rather than a rewrite but, I've always liked the idea of another Ultra Despair Girls game with some V3 characters, since that story's so open-ended so it could work either as a prequel or sequel, with some characters as their pre-game selves perhaps I'd definitely include Kaede and Maki, but following your example of making a trio... not sure, either Angie, Kirumi, Tenko or maybe even Tsumugi

(Spoilers for Ultra Despair Girls and also Goodbye Despair) I had a thought of in Chapter 4, instead of fighting Genocide Jack at that shrine place (that I don't remember the place of), Komaru, Aoi and Toko (or in this case Jack) would be fighting Akane and Peko as Ultimate Despair with Ibuki and Hiyoko in the background as morale boosters for them. Not only will this fix a lack of Class 77-B irrelevance in the story (minus the hope boy everyone loves so much) but makes Akane a more memorable character as Ibuki is popular character, Hiyoko is seen as 'wasted potential' which leads to people mainly talking about how she could had great development and Peko had a huge amount of relevance in Chapter 2 of Goodbye Despair. How this would work is Nagito informing them of the 'Successor' (Komaru) being in Towa City and telling them to see if they think Komaru is a worthy successor to Junko. After Akane and Peko loses, Peko could then say "It seems that you are truly worthy then." which at this point would come across as normal swordfighter talk of chivalry but is hinting towards the twist of Monaca trying to make Komaru the successor and during the reveal, would be called back on by either one of trio. It is slightly different to what you had in mind but I thought it would have just been a neat concept. (Also I watched a playthrough of UDG and thank God I did not have to play it.)

The remaining two wouldn't notice until Ibuki says "Wait, wasn't their a third girl. Ibuki remembers their were three of you.", mainly since Ibuki wasn't paying complete attention and didn't notice Aoi being kidnapped (let's say it was either Mahiru or the Impostor who kidnapped Aoi). Given Aoi learning of Yuta's death, Komaru and Toko would think she ran off from feeling complete despair and could try looking for her throughout the rest of Chapter 4 and would eventually lead them to the underground base with Nagisa attacking them. Nagisa before the fight would reveal that Aoi had been kidnapped at Towa Hills and Chapter 5 would be dedicated to taking down Monaca and finding Aoi to help defeat the Warriors of Hope (and also finding Byakuya if that goal will still exist). I'm not sure why my thoughts are specifically towards rewriting Chapter 4 but if makes the game more bearable then so be it.

@@StrawberryCocoaPowder Very good point, I'm not sure how I could perfectly fit that in with this rewrite as I found Toko's main motive being about just rescuing Byakuya very typical for her character and uninteresting. My main guess is for Toko's main motive being wanting to become a full fledged F.F employee instead of an intern. Byakuya would remain the same throughout the game but Aoi would be in contact with him during this process so after he loses contact with her, she decides to At this point, Makoto and the others are trying to round up the Remnants of Despair and Toko isn't really being given much to do but Aoi is willing to help after hearing of how Komaru is in need of help and Byakuya being kidnapped, hearing on how Aoi is planning to rescue her beloved and another individual in Towa City, she see's this as the perfect opportunity for her to prove herself and they would both then meets up with Komaru at the same point of the original verison of the game. The tension could mainly be how Aoi is getting more and more frustrated with Toko's personality, Komaru's obliviousness annoying Toko and Komaru is unhappy with Aoi's (now) reserved nature and how Toko treats her at times. This would build up until around Chapter 4 where the three of them get into a massive argument and at first it seems like you'll be fighting each other but are instead fighting Peko and Akane with the added twist of trying to outdo the other with dialogue insulting and expressing annoyance with each other, with the exception of Aoi would learn of Yuta's death and would fight until being kidnapped halfway through. After the fight, Komaru and Toko begrudgingly deciding to look for Aoi and then make amends after reuniting (they would reunited at the end of Chapter 4 after the Nagisa boss fight) This is the best that I can think of but I'll suggest any changes otherwise but thank you for the feedback and very sorry the long comment.

Don't see any point for Aoi, especially since Aoi was with Makoto in the anime. Why the fuck she be there? Don't see the point Toko wasn't in future foundation and she explain why, she still need to control the killer inside her to be accepted. As for gameplay I think it's fine as it is, but the puzzles should be less bs or that they notice you and ruin the puzzle. And I will delete the part you can't realod without losing points in the final score. The losing points was bs. And I delete Toko fantasy cut scenes, as nice and funny it is, I don't see any point in them. I actually don't change much on kotoko other then to dalete all her underwear shoot we see, and the stupid guide bs. I would make the mini game a cut scene instead of a mini game. And that mostly it.

A turned based RPG would definitely be more interesting to watch than a third person shooter. As for ideas, I'm going to take a little inspiration from @librathebeautifulwarmonk1283. Maybe for the first chapter up until after the first boss fight, we could have Yuta as the third party member, that way it takes longer for Komaru to realize just how trapped she is, and we actually get a chance to connect with Yuta, thus making his death all the more heart-breaking. Then, it is partway into the second chapter where we meet Hina, who fills in for her brother as the third party member (though, keeping with your concept, she's not made aware of her brother's fate). Also, the UI for the attack selection could be presented in a similar fashion as the truth bullets. I just love that connection!
