I finally caught up to the newest episode, Im so excited! My favourite character is Park, he had the most interresting character arc! In my head it went something like this; when he and Sand both fled and he had to carry him out of there but against his better nature he couldnt stop thinking about just leaving the strange human behind. They were both in bad shape, malnourished, in hostile territory and hunted mercilessly across the desert. He felt ashamed of thinking like that. That shame strenghtend his resolve to carry on, and they both managed to get away. As he soon learned, the Human was something else as he managed to get them both fed, Park, who didnt like to be indebted this way, managed to steal some clothes. When they reached Squin, it was the first time that he saw Shek that werent chained up. They impressed him, him still being very young and unexperienced, unlearned when it came to the world outside of Rebirth. He never thought about his cultural heritage. It was a shock to him to hear his own people call him an outsider. In their time in Squin, he started to emulate the behaviours and mannerisms of the true shek, he exhibited the common stoicism and took their warrior code to heart. Never back down, never evade a fight. When he met Ruka, he scoffed at her cut horns, without knowing the meaning of them. Some weeks later, he, ironically was sent out on a trip with her. Evading the massive Gorillo beast, or fleeing, never came to his mind, his head still filled with the shek hyperbole. Even when Ruka begged him to run away. They couldnt win this fight, but still they fought, the Gorillo seemed to have endless energy while they already had their backs against the wall. Then, the worst happened. A massive swing from the roaring beast crippled Rukas leg beyond repair and again he had to flee with a companion bleeding in his arms. He felt and feels unimaginably guilty about this. As he was running, all of the shek warrior code flew away from his head. He felt like a child. But a lot of time has passed since then. He is a more humble person nowadays. He takes pride in his craft and in the friends he has around him. He is looking after Ruka wheenever he can and is going out of his way to help her. Ruka knows this and is toying with him a bit, but I dont think that she is or was seriously mad at him. He is a loyal friend to Sand and believes in his vision and his goals.

A couple of notes i wanted to help you with. - For seeing the "total power of the base" just select any base building, a new window appears on the right above the job window that shows your power demand and your current battery storage. - You can build a market stall and set your base open to the public, any drifters that are passing by can automatically buy that looted armor (Don't expect them to have enough cats on hand to buy your good stuff though, you will still need to run in to town to sell that stuff) - Make sure you build a raw meat storage and a hide storage, remember that we discovered that your "loot animals" job won't run unless you have those two things down. - Speaking of animals, in the settings you can set it so your turret gunners will auto attack passing neutral animals, easy way to get a steady supply of raw meat. - I think your meat cubes went in to the animal food storage.

Don't forget you can make chew sticks out of 8 pieces of cactus after you research desert cooking! You mentioned that you thought you needed wheat to make food out of cactus, so I just wanted to clarify there are alternative options! You can also research up to hydroponics and not have to worry about any of it, but that takes a lot of resources...

Check out the Sandpit growing :) The foodcubes ended up in the animal feeder by the way. Just after you were looking for them and directed your attention to the next matter at hand at 1:12:45 Spot made his way to the feeder and I caught him picking up the foodcube from there ;) So they did not disappear at least :)

Hi Rycon, I have spent over 400 hours on kenshi, so if you don't mind here's some tip I learned while building a base. You can build several copper storage close to the copper ore mine for efficiency, the raiders are not going to steal your ore from storage. For food, the best food resource in desert would be the desert sandwich, it needs one bread and 8 cactus to make. Two XL wheat farm and one large cactus farm could provide 6~8 people's daily need. Love your videos.

@@user-rm4on7ql9k yeah keeping ur food in ur pack animalqnd dont build a foodstore does resolve that isue. ive got base event size to 4 times so if they come to take tribute they steal like 2 foodstores full of food :p.

Love that the gang finally have a home of their own! That local wind speed though, oh man. Those turbines are going to have a doozy of a time keeping up, fortunately you can make big fat clusters of them (they can safely be placed outside your walls, I don't believe enemies bother them). I wish storage chests were better, fitting the hitbox of the storage boxes indoors is always rough, watching that available space shrink. Also, if backpack size is an issue when looting fallen enemies, you can always briefly switch their weapon with yours, pick it up again, and then drop it. That way if you can't get around to looting it before they get up they'll at least come back as bad martial artists.

Just started my 4th run and realized u can make a nice smuggler organization, just put one robot in each city u wanna trade in and also on in the swamp (for me 3 or 4 guys in the swampand 1 on flats do the trick) then all u need is an animal to carry the goods from all the swamp towns they don't get searched from guards as far as I have seen it and if they are trained enough they can outrun most of the danger. Get rich easy without the stress unless u make a lovely yt video like this one here love there series! Also the new episodes 😁

And the recruitable prisoners mod is a really well done one that you might like to look into! Rather than leaving the beserkers dying on the floor, I'm sure Park and Sand can see how people that have to live near the Holy Nation might allow themselves to become more feral, lean into the racism from the Holy Nation and embrace the monstrous parts of themselves, giving not only the Holy Nation, but all others, something to truly fear! (In the Recruitable Prisoners mod each enemy type has unique dialogue about why they might join your group along with a decent amount of dialogue)

Also! ( I reply a lot to myself in these) You can see your active power consumption on the RHS of the screen. Where I'm looking at the moment, (43:30) you have 5 power coming in from your wind generator, you are using a total of 28 power, and your stored power is at 0/240. This means, anything that needs to use power will be running at a very low efficiency. Edit. You talked about this 3 minutes later. Whoops.

Also Also Also (?) I'm going to quickly spruke some more mods, because some of the mods really are fantastic. Even a quick browse of the Steam Workshop can net you many that will greatly improve your QOL in the game! There's a really cool mod that adds fences to your farms! Makes them a bit less chaotic, and more like you're actually trying to grow things in an orderly sense!

You can also pick up (or drop) characters from the profile pick on the menu bar by right clicking. Too bad you can't setup an automated trade caravan from your settlement to sell your goods for food/supplies. Good series. mate.

Rycon you should consider building a "Sallyport" gate system for better defense. It's a system of double gates with walls on all sides. Forts had ones for defenders so they could create a "Killbox".

Harpoons are fantastic... but they do require power. Crossbows don't need power. Maybe a mix? Also, I like putting defenses on the top floor of buildings that can see over the walls, to allow for a fall-back position in case the gates get breached. Oh - and Devin's Frostpunk NLP is just incredible :)

another great video!... you can build an item furnace and melt looted armor into iron ore. I have a base in cannibal country and I don't mine ore, I get it from melted down cannibal weapons

Excellent series! Stockpile enough building materials and eventually you could wall in those copper and iron nodes grabbing a lot of arable land in the proccess. Also, you can cook cacti and make chewsticks. They are kinda low on nutrition, but one can spam cra&tons of them with a few well-tended farms. Plz bear in mind there's a bug with the walls - if you plop them far enough from your standard buildings they can switch ownership to nearby NPC cities, waystations, etc. To avoid that just build some buildings first in the general vicinity of where you're planning to expand walls. I usually build 2-3 storm houses or watchtowers in the corners of the planned expansion and then follow up with walls.

I like your thinking. He could start with some buildings by the resource Nodes where a Runner could transport the raw materials from. Aldo maybe a Well and some excess food you can afford to lose.

Also some Delay barriers or anything that will create a "Lethal Funnel" around the walls would also be great for defense. Delay Barriers slow the enemies attack and potential retreat. Their also useful inside the walls for the same reason.

Oh man, I love Kenshi but base building can be such a massive pain if you're unlucky. To be safe it's better to increase your outpost's radius with small shacks before building your walls, because if you're unlucky enough so part of your outpost ends up being considered part of something else you're pretty much screwed if you don't want to import, because pathfinding will be permanently broken for that section.

Don't forget you can hire mercs in the bars. I highly recommend it, they have saved my ass numerous times and they stick around for a while. Not too expensive either and the freed up man power will help you work your industries for more cash. Commenting early, so maybe you already have later in the video.

BTW there will be an event called "Krals Chosen" that happens in that area and they will be about 8-12 shek with level 46-ish stats so...I don't know what happens if you lose to them but they say they have come to test you to see if you are worthy to stay in those lands, so...presumably if you lose you are unworthy and they kick you out? maybe they just kill you I don't know never lost to them.

My OCD just can't take the absolutely horrible min-maxing of this basebuilding, lol. Rycon, come on my man! You are killing us here, what with the storage containers on the opposite side of the entrance, and inefficient wall-layout, the camp-placement itself on neither side of the valley with the mining nodes..! I can't watch this! Windmill inside the walls makes no sense (and I think you picked the wrong one), neither does building idle stone processors before building beds for unconscious workers. Man. I love this series so much, I actually find myself yelling at the screen about these things :-)

Oh, if you have the recruit prisoner mod installed, the berserkers and the Black dragon ninja are the finest early game rectuit, with status at 25~35, you can build a small army with 10~20 units, good enough to destroy Rebirth.

Learn to turn jobs off during combat and hen you want then to do other stuff. You’re trying to automate too much stuff but not bothering to set the ordering right. You’re guys can’t handle too many jobs, that’s game mechanics and saying “come on buddy, don’t do that” isn’t going to patch it. 🤦‍♂️

@@lordfriedrick7911 well argument could be made that at this stage they can take any amount of basic fogmen so it would be safe technically safer since no one would be insane enought to lead an attack into fog islands. on the other hand i understand why it just... it is still slightly annoying, especially since it is one of best outpost locations, and aside from great desert most of starting lands are really boring, as in not boring in sense of safe and nothing happens as in even the attacks that come are well... for the lack of bettter word boring... and repetetive
