They say that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What may seem an eyesore to one person, just might be a beautiful masterpiece to another. There are places beloved by communities and protected in the hearts of those that hold their memories of its tattered hallways and decayed rooms dear. This is the way that we feel when we explore places that have been forgotten by time. Left to rot and decay and only holding the silent whispers of what once was. We know that there are people out there with malicious intent toward these places that we venture into. It saddens us when we see the filth and destruction they leave behind, but we want to make something very clear… We are explorers and lovers of history. We in no way, shape or form condone the criminal activities that take place in the historical decaying places that we document. Social media has brought many of these places to the limelight, but the intention is to show the beauty and mystery of abandonment. Not to invite trouble. Trouble will find its way on its own and to say that the peaceful documentation of these places leads to criminal activity, is mind blowing. We have met so many amazing fellow explorers in our travels and are so thankful and humbled by the positive responses we have received. We know that this type of exploration is not for everyone…many people don’t understand why we find such beauty in decay, we can only explain it as a beautiful journey into the past. We invite you to watch our explores and come along as we visit these amazing places. As for the criminal activity that occurs, those individuals are responsible for their own actions. It is a terrible part of our society, but reality, nonetheless. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for loving this location just as much as we do. We hope that through this video, the memories held within will remain.

I saw this when it came out. It affected me when I go to grave yards, AND I have not gotten into ANY boat in a lake since. TO THIS DAY, it still creeps up my neck. Went to New england for 7 weeks in the early 1980s, and I couldn't shake it. Don't know what it is about this movie. I wanted to go where it was filmed and couldn't find out much. And yes, I had several friends that had herests. TY for this video. Don't know why folks didn't give this movie more showtime.

OMG you did a fantastic Job. Great time of year to choose too so that most trees were free of leaves and would not block views. Thanks for your detailed efforts. I can't believe the Old Bishop house has just been allowed to languish and decay. I always wanted to go but I have a feeling it will be match sticks by then. Interesting also that when you moved on to show the place that was used for interiors, you went through a gate that had a Witch silhouette on it. Wonder why that was? The icing on the cake was the drone footage. If they ever do an official release of the score, you should post it with that footage.

I was just thinking that about the extension. BTW, I found another video where the photographer peaks inside the main house's boarded up windows, which is the first time I have ever seen anyone get close enough to look in. The video is of a photographer that takes pics of abandoned structures, urban explorer and was created by CBS, Halloween 2021. I was surprised at how well the interior was preserved, but with good materials and craftmanship, it shouldn't be a surprise. I am guessing the family will probably wait until sprawl gets close enough and sell for top dollar and demolish all of those buildings. I do not think anyone would be interested in restoring when they can sell that land for millions.

I had this movie on my mind and was looking for videos about it then found 2 exploration videos about it: yours and one with a young couple (Urbex and Chill is the channel). They had never seen the movie but knew the basic history that the exterior of the house was used in the movie..They went all over, inside and out. One of the outbuildings is a garage and there is a car in there that is either the same car used in the movie but modified back from being a hearse to a regular classic car or its the same make of car that was never modified into a hearse. I was just comparing the car from their video to the shot you provided outside the hardware store. Parts are just like the hearse car but some differences- like the lights in front are different and the back part is different but its entirely possible that this is the same exact car but modified back to a regular car and not a hearse.

I'm not sure they were even aiming for "scary" back in 1971. To me it always seemed to be more of a low-key supernatural thriller that was intended to carry a creepy, atmospheric, other worldly vibe, and centered around an emotionally fragile woman who's trying to start a new life, but questioning her own sanity. I love the film. ❤️
