Brilliant film with strong performances. Excellent choices of music and ambiguous ending. Saw this in 1971 at a drive-in at 8 years old. Never frightened by horror but fascinated by it!

I saw this at the theater when I was 14 at all night horror movie-thon, with a gaggle of friends. In the wee hours of the morning, trying to stay awake, it was like a slow moving nightmare, with a slowly building feeling of dread. I love it and have watched it many times since. It is not for horror fans who like blood and guts. It's more for those who want mystery, atmosphere, and slowly increasing dread. I group it in with "Don't Look Now"; it has many layers and possible meanings.

The Haunting of Julia, The Little Girls Who Lives Down the Lane and Let's Scare Jessica to Death, I've always thought they'd always work well as a triple feature AND THEN we got Carnival of Souls, Spider Baby and Freaks? This is an amazing line up!
