I see the reason why jackie chan was not in expandables is because he didnt work with anyone in this movie before. Jet Li made it into this film because he had films with jason statham long ago. So i guess jet li was refer by him (probably).

Actually...Jackie turned down the offer...including a second offer for 2 because he was working on other things...and 3...he agreed as long as he had a larger role than Stallone had in mind, but turned it and a potential role in 4 because Stallone offered "about ten minutes of screen time"...

I'm not too sure, but it could also be because the level of violence isn't what Jackie Chan usually does. He normally keeps the blood and action to a family-friendly level.

I can't find it now, but he had a stunt documentary and he commented about why he rarely had much blood spewing out in his films, and it's simply because that wasn't his style. However, the documentary was shot in the early 2000s so I do concede that it's possible he may have changed his stance about this. :)
