As a reader you don't find out where the hell Jon, Dany and Tyrion are at all. At the very end you get an authors note saying they will "be along next year." Six years later....... Book five had a couple of good scenes at the end Jon's murder and Dany flying off on Drogon, but you have to slog through two books of boredom to get there. For all the criticism of the show writers, at least they do write shows. GRRM hasn't put out a novel for over a decade. Dany is starting to lose her mind already, and Jaime has always refused to speak about why he killed Aerys. The writing in this scene is pretty good, and consistent with the characters. I don't know why we're watching this at the more or less same time but I found this pretty weird that he indeed himself did not retort about Daenery's accusation about her father's murder. He told Brienne, and he could have told the same story here about what happened. He could have tell that Barristan Selmi knew aswell that the king was a mad man as Barristan told Daenerys, so it'd indirectly vouch for him from this dead character. Also, I don't read the books but the theory that Bran went into the head of Aerys and made him become mad the same way he made Hodor handicaped, with "'Burn them all Burn them all !" instead of Hold the Door has not been explored/confirmed in the show but I wonder if it will in the books, because if so the fact Bran is there, sitting right next to them while being the reason why all of this issue with the mad king has happened in the first place, it would have been interesting.

This is a moment so parallel to killing Aerys the mad King. Jaime not only came to do the right thing but also gave critical info about his queen. Sadly, Dany and her army kinda forget about it. This scene also shows the mind state of the three authorities. Dany is demanding justice for a man, she hardly knew, the mad King, whom every lord of westeros hated. Sansa changed her mind after she learnt that Jaime helped her by sending Briene. Jon doesn't care about his identity as long as he fights against the army of dead

Can you blame Dany though? This was pure emotion.
@noahra54102 жыл бұрын
@@janellejulianajoy It's difficult to blame Dany considering the way she grew up. As a child, everyone around her forced their views of Targeryan dynasty, Westeros and Dragons. So while she was kind and compassionate and wanted to live in her home in pentos, like Viserys she also had this entitlement about her royalty. That's why when Viserys died in the molten crown, she said that he was no dragon and when her dragons born, she automatically believed that she is destined to get the iron throne. In her morphed views, perhaps even if there is no affection towards Aerys, he was the Targeryan king and her Danerys's father. Thus it was a must to punish the kingslayer. One of my favorite scenes. It says so much about their characters, Jamie’s willingness to confront certain death here and the Starks’ willingness to forgive. Jamie tormented Jon & Rob, cut down Ned, crippled Bran, and murdered the queen’s father. The outcome of this situation is extremely unlikely and plain ridiculous, but it makes perfect sense given who these characters are. And not to mention we finally got the culmination of having Jamie face with what he did to Bran 8 seasons later which was essentially the hook of the entire show at the end of the first episode.

Jamie was also forced to become a Knight by King Aerys at the age of 16, making him the youngest knight in the history of Westeros. The King did this only to despise Tywin Lannister of his heir. So many missed opportunities in this scene, not to mention the season as a whole. This is Jaime Lannister, who Jon's brother and father fought against in war. Daenerys was charged by the guy on horseback in the season just gone. Not a single mention of it. She melted his men before Jaime's eyes burning the rest who refused to obey her. Then there is Bran, who got pushed out a window by this man. So much potential for drama and interesting character dynamics. Everything is just kind of moved on too quick and brushed over. Then there's Tyrion who just gets put in his place as usual. Greyworm has more balls than Tryion post season 4-5. Tyrion could have mentioned how his brother freed him and went against Cersei to do the right thing. You'd think to see his brother stand on trial, like he did, would spark something greater in Tyrion to have a bit more fire. Expecially seen as how Jaime saved Tyrion's life. Would have been nice to see Jaime put Daenerys in her place about her dearest daddy too.

Now 71 years old and at the ages of 7 to 10 had LOTR read to me by an actual student of J.R.R. Tolkien, was taken often to Stratford on Avon to watch most of W. Shakespeare's play and was taught the Illiad and Beowulf by a retired Oxford Don - so I was very fortunate to have a very good base in the classics and literature. Apart from I Claudius and DUNE I read and watched when a young man, the has been no book or film that have ever matched, had my respect and equal admiration these last 40 years. But George R. R. Martin in my opinion is certainly now up there with such masters of literature and story telling and in a way in certain aspects has improved upon them and Jamie with his story arc, is a classic example. Over a very long time and gradually, we see Jamie changed from the complete baddy to a real goody with readers and viewers first despising him and at the end loving him, which is a rare find. If you think about it, most films and TV shows, since their very beginning, have had the concept of the hero and the villain with the hero winning as the basis of all our entertainment. Yes there have been nuances of this theme but never in the way, events and long time period we see with Jamie and to me that is due to the mastery of writing of Martin. I also would add that a good part of my opinion is down to Nikolaj Coster-Waldau playing Jaime Lannister, who was able to do so to his very good acting skills in creating a repore with those of us who watched and read the series over the decade.

“The things we do for love” is literally the personification of Jaime. From the first episode when he says it, we all hate him for doing something so evil like pushing a child out a window. And yet, he is the most honourable man in the show. Everything he does is in service to either the king/queen, or the people of Westeros. He defends Brienne when she’s about to be roped, saves her against a bear, literally gives up his childhood home in favour of strategy, and even this scene, where he comes solely to defend the people of the country. He does these things out of love for his family, for his people, for his country. He knows that the people of the world will never see him as honourable because of his “kingslayer” title, but he knew it was either be dishonourable, or stand by and watch his father and thousands of innocent people die. That to me, is one of the best qualities you can have in a character who has accepted his notoriety, but still acts in service of his loved ones. To act in the service of love is an honourable action, which in this scene shows Jaime shocked that Bran not only remembers it, but reminds Jaime that his actions were done in honour. Maybe not honour of others but definitely to those he loves. And even after the long night, he still returns to Kings Landing in service of his sister, the queen. That shows better honour than someone who could be considered a “turncoat” for trying to side with the North and the Targaeryen threat to his sisters crown. Jaime is probably the most complicated characters in the show, and he 100% deserved a better send off than his ending of resorting to his dishonourable ways. The true catalyst of the game of thrones

there isn't such a series like GOT. there won't be again and I would prefer it that way. I would love to remember the series as the best thing I've watched. I feel so lucky I enjoyed every fucking second
