Thank you so much for your help. I have now finished my cardigan. I made it out of the only piece I had in my stash that was large enough to cut it out of and I have to admit it is not a favourite. I'm finding that a lot of the fabrics I bought a few years ago now prior to me letting my dark hair finally go grey during Covid lockdowns don't suit me as much as in the past. However, I don't hate it and I predominantly wanted to check the fit. I made a size 12 in the shoulders working on my upper bust measurement and graded out to a 16 on the sides based on my bust and hip measurements. I kept the length for the sleeves and cardi at the size 12. It actually fits nicely but I think a long sleeve top under might make it tight in the forearms. The most important thing for me is the length. I made the longer version and it comes just above my knees (I'm 166cm) and when I shorten it by 10cm it looks so much better. So I've spent the evening unpicking all that careful overlocking of the bottom and side bands, so I can cut off 10cm. I will then be happy to wear my toile but I look forward to making another in a much better colour. It was pleasant to make and the only thing I was a bit unsure of was the neck band fitting neatly where it joined the bottom band. Maybe there's a trick to not stretching all that fabric I had no problem with 3 layers but 4 I had to reduce the pressure. Thanks again. I watched your video a couple of times.

Thank you so much for your very professional sewalong. I really enjoyed watching all the parts. I am about to sew this cardigan and you have been very professional. I have watched a couple of youtube videos on this cardigan in preparation for my sew and this is by far the best and most professional. Edited to add, probably the only thing I might have liked your opinion on was whether the pattern sizing is true, ie do you take say a size x and you cut out and sewed a size x which then fitted. Using x because there are so many sizes around the World.🙂

Thank you for watching and leaving a comment. I found the size was true to my measurement. Only the sleeve was very snug. I dropped my armhole a little bit and adjusted my sleeve for more ease.

Hello Elsabe, I started today sewing my harper cardigan. I have forwarded shoulders so I advanced my shoulder seam one cm on the back and shortened one cm at the front. What about the notches on my front band, do I also have to move the notches by one cm. Thank you for your help.

Hi Natasha, thanks for your message. I import habby from a international supplier that I sell online at www.surefitdesigns.co.za. I love having all these gadgets. I am a bit low in stock at the moment,but should have more goodies in June. I usually do a unboxing on KZbin and the items usually sell out in a couple of days.

When you sew your bottom and neck bands on do you sew it with the bands on the top or bottom as you sew? Thank you. Maree, Sydney, Australia
@ElsabeHurn8 ай бұрын
Hi Maree, it doesn’t really matter if the band is on the top or bottom, but I usually sew with the band on top.

Do I need to put the stabilizer on both the back panel and the front panel, or is just the back okay?
@ElsabeHurn2 жыл бұрын
If you work with very stretchy fabric you can stabilise both front and back. I usually just do the back panel and when sewing I make sure the stabilised area is to the top and the non- stabilised area on the feed dogs.
