Thanks for sharing. Great video. The same result would have been obtained if we say log 20 to base 2 equals x, and thereafter change log 20 to base 2 to a common base to get log 20 divided by log 2 equals x.

x=log_2(20) = log_2(2*10) = log_2(2) + log_2(10) =1 + 1/log_10(2) which from memory is 1+1/0.3010 with a bit more trickery without the calculator = 1+ (~ 3.32) =4.32

You always mention that the students who take really good notes in class always do well. It would be interesting to collect those notes from a few good students and compile them into an annotated booklet as a learning aid. Or see how they're any different from your "Power Notes" booklets.

I went a different method but it would get the same result. Since 2 is the base I just log based 2 to both sides and got x= log base 2of 20

base 10 for 2 is the only one I remember from frequent use....I spent 40 years as a chem/Physics teacher....being retired for 10 years now makes some of these difficult (!) but 1.301 over 0.301 !!
