Boilers are awesome. I flush twice a year. Once before turning it off after cold season and also when I start it up in the fall. I also pH test and treat the boiler water after filling the system after a flush. I use RO water for my boiler to limit calcium build up. I could and probably should flush more often. I haven’t noticed any pitting, fouling or sediments at the end of my long loops.

Dan Holohan is not just some guy that sat in his house writing books on how steam systems should work, he was a paid consultant that helped many building especially in nyc solve complex steam heating issues, and he was paid very well to do so, he put the work in to learn, you don’t always have to get your hands dirty to know what your doing.

But like I said in the video. Just because it’s good on paper doesn’t mean it actually how it works. I’ve been trying to get in contact with him at no prevail. I would love to have an honest open discussion with him

When you mean flush do you mean completely drain boiler and refill?
@NYCHvac8 ай бұрын
@@Misterprepper flushing just about a 3 or 1 gallons bucket weekly in the winter time.

If they have natural gas for their water heater than why are they using oil for the boiler?
@NYCHvac8 ай бұрын
Unfortunately in NY state is basically illegal for them to switch to natural gas even with gas going to the house. Politicians in NY suck.

That’s wild…been watching your vids bro. Keep up the good work.

Love your work man. I’m a young plumber in South Jersey trying to learn more about boilers and we occasionally run into a steam boiler. I only found you a couple days ago, I appreciate the lessons you’re teaching.
