I haven't seen a study done on it yet, but it would seem to me that Republican policies tend to increase the level of poverty and income inequality in the areas they are put in place. Since poverty is connected to crime levels and inequality is connected to unrest, it would probably indicate that Republican policies increase crime rates. Add to this the "tough on crime" mantra and I would expect it to lead to more incarcerations and longer sentences as well. Charging minor crimes as felonies to show toughness also leads to limited job opportunities for those affected as well, further instilling poverty in the areas.

Fix income inequality, overhaul the education system, take these life stressors and try to mitigate them, and society will flourish. And for those of us about to vote? Research who runs your schools. Who are on your city councils and planning commissions. Who are your judges, and what are their records? Who is your sheriff? How long has he run unopposed? Who are your local lawmakers? Are they millionaire lawyers, or your neighbors? Local government affects us directly every day. That is where we all need to focus... The issue about Chicago is all about race and south Chicago. As a young man I traveled through there by rail, across the country. Like Woody Guthrie and Jack London to some extent. I got off in south Chicago, June 1976, transferred on the local municipal rail transit authority headed north. Everyone in the car was black except me, white. Stayed on the line to the northern end. Till everyone in the car was white except the poor driver. Who was black. This is how Chicago was separated. South Chicago was miles of uniform red brick multistory tenements with wood stairways, occasional broken glass covered empty lots sparkled in the sun between them. Earlier refugees from the racist south.

can we cite this if we're trying to prove this argument is garbage, though 🤔 Also I take issue with calling Trump a "petty, petty man". In my judgment he's never acted like a man, more like a petulant child who, against the odds, happens to also be a septuagenarian.

I've had this argument many times over the past week. There is definitely a notable uptick in violent crime in US cities. Here in NY it is quite alarming, we had 20 separate shooting incidents across the city with 23 victims in 24 hours last Saturday. There is also a disturbing uptick in knife-related assaults and robberies. So I start doing some research. Turns out NY is FAR from alone here. Chicago has indeed seen the most shocking increase in shootings and gun-related homicides. There are also disturbing uptick in aggravated assaults, murders and property crimes across numerous Republican cities as well, like Fort Worth, Jacksonville, Miami, etc. This not a partisan problem, this is a nationwide problem. And it thrives in the chaos and divisiveness being sown by our glorious "leader". But what really annoys me is when people make statements like "this is what's to be expected from the communist leftists". To which I generally ask them how capitalism would prevent this. Or if they seriously believe that the people randomly doing drive by shootings in family neighborhoods give one line solitary sh*t about the ideologies of Marx, Lenin, Stalin or any of the boogeymen being demonized Fox News.
@rdean1504 жыл бұрын
And this helps explain why it's disproportionate in Democrat run cities. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mayors_of_the_50_largest_cities_in_the_United_States MOST cities are Democrat run cities. The Republican party already failed out of the class before they could even take this test.

@@grmpEqweer Yeah, agreed. That's exactly what I believe too. But that kind of thing can be mitigated significantly with public messaging, leadership, and community outreach programs. The current climate of chaos, misinformation and anger is making things worse.

Aren't violent crime rates down compared to 20 years ago due to lower numbers of the demographic that attempts violent crimes? (Which is young men under the age of 25.) I thought I read this information a year or so ago. If I'm wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me.
