let's talk about gacha lgbtq videos

I’m aroace and a cisgender female; it makes me happy when someone properly addresses issues such as these. Back when I was questioning my gender and orientation (I was in high school at the time), I realized how terrible GLMMs centering around gay and lesbian relationships were due to poor writing and the fact that some Gachatubers are minors with little to no knowledge on the LGBTQIA+ community or how healthy relationships work. This is why positive LGBTQIA representation in media is important. Fortunately, there are shows working to improve that. It is also good that TV shows are showing better family dynamics such as good parents with flaws and siblings who actually care about each other deep down, plus found family.

Another topic to cover: Trans representation in the Gacha Community Please read all of this carefully I’ve watched videos from Gachatubers who were trans FTM or under the non binary umbrella (genderfluid, agender, nonbinary, demiboy, demigirl, etc). They vent about how unaccepting their family is and how hostile the area they live in is towards trans people. Plus, they could be questioning their gender and that’s okay. They deserve to be loved and treated as human beings. On the topic of videos, a majority of trans Gacha videos are of transmasc/FTM headcanons of characters from popular fandoms such as MHA, FNAF, IT, Demon Slayer, BSD, etc or a Gachatuber’s OCs. In a majority of those videos, trans men are being fetishized because they’re AFAB (assigned female at birth), haven’t gotten bottom surgery or a hysterectomy (removal of the uterus) and are able to get pregnant as well as menstruate. Gacha Mpreg videos exist and it’s super disgusting since the people making it are minors. Pregnant trans men do exist in real life but it’s not often that you see or hear of that. The problem with these transmasc headcanons in the Gacha community is that they’re making canon characters act out of character, too. I myself don’t see a majority of the characters in the fandoms mentioned as trans unless the headcanons make sense to the story or how the characters are canonically portrayed. On the other hand, there is a lack of transfem/MTF representation in the Gacha community. It takes me over an hour of searching and scrolling to find something transfem related. I’ve had more luck finding MTF representation in Gacha on TikTok and Reddit a majority of MTF related Gacha content is more present in the Spanish and Portuguese/Brazilian side of the Gacha community (probably since there are a lot of trans people living in South America). I would like for there to be a balance of transfem and transmasc representation.

Continuing off from Trans Representation in the Gacha Community: Since I want positive trans representation, I made my own characters and headcanons. On my community posts, I made a headcanon that Agent 8 is a trans girl since Splatoon is a game about self expression, humanity and fighting oppression. I see Splatoon 2: Octo Expansion as a trans allegory since Agent 8 is an Octoling who wants to join the world above but has to fight forces that keep her down. The wiki refers to the Agents by they/them pronouns since they are the player’s character and it is up to how the player interprets them. Another reason I headcanon Agent 8 as a trans girl is because the female counterpart is more widely advertised than the male counterpart. Splatoon 2 Octo Expansion is basically The Matrix (which was written by trans women) but with evolved cephalopods and without the iconic pills. Another headcanon is that Mitch Williams from Glitch Techs is transmasc because he has a video of himself from 6 years ago (shown in an episode) and his appearance in that video reminds me of trans men early in their transition. There’s several reasons why people make headcanons and one of them is to see themselves in their favorite characters. I’m aroace and cisgender but I can make gender diverse headcanons as long as they aren’t forced or harmful. I’ve even headcanoned a few characters as aroace based on how they interact with other characters (both iterations of Mikey from TMNT 2012 and Rise of the TMNT, Renet from TMNT 2012 and Agent 4 from Splatoon 2).
