I don’t water mine until it’s leaves begin to “taco” and curl inwards, also it’s color gets slightly duller. Soil will be very dry by this point so I give it a hefty drowning with DI water. Never had an issue with it and she gave me a ton of babies this summer, as well as seeds ☺️ Edit to add that while they don’t like to completely dry out between waterings, that’s not in reference to soil but rather the tubers (large roots,) as they store a lot of the plants water. If you notice soft/mushy leaves or the center of the leaves are browning, let her dry for a while before watering again.

If they do get direct light which they can tolerate for an hour or two but only morning light which isn't that strong compared to midday especially in the afternoon, my spider plant wasn't happy until I moved it to my east facing window and loved the morning sun

does anyone else touch their spider plants’ leaves to decide when to water? my spidies’ leaves get limp and soft when they want water and then they firm up and feel “crisp” again (kinda like romaine lettuce, not like dry/dead crispy) when they have enough. im sure not all plants would like to get that dry in between but they seem to like it. and im not sure this is the right way to do it i’m just always fondling my plants ig :,)

Could be fluoride in the water. Or you are watering too often still. I water mine every 3 weeks. My mom lives by benign neglect and waters hers every 4 or 5 weeks when she remembers.😂 They're doing GREAT! I took babies off her in hopes they do as well.

I appreciate the advice! My spider plant though, loves direct sunlight. She gets probably about 4-6 hours direct sunlight in my south facing window. She’s the only plant besides my Jade that can handle it. It’s so funny how plants of the saw species can be so diverse ❤️❤️

My curly spider is in a pot about the same size as yours. Mine is a bit smaller though. When should I repot her into s smaller pot?
@Judgmental_Cat2 жыл бұрын
Look at the roots, if the root to potting mix is the 50/50 then you have a root bound plant that’ll be happy to stretch its roots. If you see root growth but its only a couple of strands starting to wrap around the base then you’re plant is good where its at.

Can someone help me with my spider plant? The leaves have become slightly wavy and I can't figure out why. It wasn't my plant to begin with, so I can tell by the looks of it that it hasn't been properly cared for. But it has grown new healthy leaves, they were straight as they should be, but they started to become wavy for some reason :( Is it over or underwatering?

I just bought me a plant and is dying as I try to drive an hour to my house so I don’t know if it’s too much heat. I do have the air on when it is sweltering outside. I guess they don’t like to be really hot.

Can I ask a question what dose it mean if my spider plant has soggy leafs I don't understand it and no where on Google has any info why 😔. I have them in a bright light spot and I also water once a week I know that crispy leafs are a thing but soggy I have no clue 😅
@StonedGargoyle Жыл бұрын
Soggy leaves?? Check for rot! You might wanna lift it out of the pot and check the roots but check the base of the leaves first, make sure you haven’t let water sit in the crown of the plant - this also leads to rot and soggy leaves, good luck and hope this helps:)
@iAMthesmurf639 Жыл бұрын
@@StonedGargoyle I have all ready checked the soil isn’t too moist it’s not sitting in water and it’s not root bound this one is a confusing plant 😅 thank you for commenting ❤️

My mom gave me basically a single leaf with a root as a gift how should I go about raising it?
@TracyO888 Жыл бұрын
Maybe a little late to answer your question, but this is what I do with my babies. Put it in a small glass of water. Change the water weekly. After just a few weeks it should have good roots. Place in a small pot of dirt. Increase the size of the pot with the growth of the plant. If it is a baby with roots, then I just put it in a pot. I have already done over a dozen of them this summer.

@stephaniecrothers84826 ай бұрын
There are two types of slider plants. 1. Variegated which is green and white striped leaves. 2. Unvariegated which is solid green leaves, no white. I have both types! My favorite is the solid green but the green and white is a close 2nd.

New plant owner here. Spider plant has gnats. Currently trying to combat them with the hydrogen peroxide water mix. Any tips?

try neem oil. it’ll help with multiple pests and is safe for cats, only downside is that it takes a few weeks of treating to fully eradicate them

The plant in the video is indeed a spider plant, a variegated spider plant to be exact. I have two of them in my house as well as two unvariegated spider plants.
