I so thank you for mentioning that you drink a gallon of water a day. I hope that the women listening to this video would take heed. It is the best gift that any woman could give to herself. For me to drink a gallon of water nowadays is easy. I completely cut out sodas, ten years ago. I am encouraging someone out there to take the challenge to drink a gallon of water a day as part of your lifestyle. From the top of my head these are some benefits from drinking a gallon of water a day. Typically six to eight ounces glasses a day is recommended. But, double that amount and your will have your gallon or you could drink two 44 oz cups of water. Drinking water and staying hydrated will increase skin health, healthy circulation, firmer and elastic skin. Toxin are flush out of your body, digestion runs smoothly, little to no bloating, greater endurance in the gym. If you are working out more than 2 hours a day you need to drink a gallon of water a day. Perhaps, take the 30 days gallon of water challenge.

My mom never spoke to me about this subject but I have a 19 to daughter n I always have been straight up n how to take care of yourself, hygienically as well as sexually. She has never had problem with either,so at ease that she has even shown anything she is concerned about. Me and my boys have the same open relationship. I love that my kids can trust me and feel so comfortable with me.I feel like I can be the best mom I can with them.👪💝

As a college student on a budget.. Rubbing alcohol or witch hazel after shaving works perfectly. The alcohol stings at first but it leaves me really smooth and fresh... literally no burning no itching. I use it for my arm pits as well....

I find that wax is the best! Nothing feels and looks as smooth, I know a lot of people say it hurts but you can start doing it in your own at home little by little, and after a couple times it won't be bad. Just start with small patches, the way it looks and feels is worth every small ouch, also you don't have to do the whole thing, just the top part which is most visible anyway;)

Men;s shaving creme works really well. No problem with ingrowns or itching. Nothing wrong with NOT shaving either. It just so happens I sweat alot there so during summer months I shave; otherwise I would not/ dont like looking like a pre-pubescent CHILD down there. I stopped using Summers Eve and others because I purchased one years ago and it had a large dirt particle in it. Too many chemicals in everything. Ever since then, I have used vinegar and water or just water. ALSO, not drinking enough water can cause odors

I agree with this video. I see too many folks say no cleansing is necessary. Maybe for them but I can't shower or use the restroom without cleaning myself there. I would add that Rephresh is a great product to balance your ph after cycles, intercourse, or if you feel you need it. I have to say that I grew up in a single parent home with my two sisters and father raising us. He had no idea so I learned these things growing up on my own and helped my sisters as well. It is very important for women to know how to properly care for her body. I've not tried the trimmer as I do shave and like you hate hair there. I have little issues with the three points you mention but sometimes I do. I am picking up the trimmer today. Thanks!

super thankful for women that puts this stuff out there. Some moms DON'T talk about this, at least not enough for a lady to know what to do! However, I don't know the ingredients of the Summer's eve but wouldn't any naturally moisturizing cleanser do? I mean something chemical-free would be great even if it is a soap.

There is no such thing as "chemical free" because everything is made from the periodic table but it is good to be aware of what you're putting in and around your body. It's better to do your own research because you know your body best!

It is important to note that those products are typically not recommended by gynecologist. I used to use them and found myself with frequent issues. Once I stopped, my natural chemistry made for perfect conditions. Now I only use warm water to cleanse down there...on occasion I will use Dove Sensitive soap only. Talk to your doctor about feminine washes and wipes before using.

Oh Mimi I LOVE you, lol. I was glad that someone else brought the topic up because I am always trying to get the younger women in my life to understand the importance of kept themselves nice clean and fresh. I personally take what my guy calls "douche baths", 1/4 cup salt, 1 cup vinegar, mixed in the bath and soak. I also put smell good bath salts or oils. It helps with keeping things fresh and it also REALLY helps with yeast infections as well (I think it works 100x better that other medications from the store). But I am going out to get that shaver though.

I use the same wash and stopped douching a long....long time ago. If you happen to have a really bad odor please see your doctor. This could be a bacterial infection. There are several things that can cause a woman's bacterial to go haywire and douching is one of them. I dealt with this odor for 2 years. Yes ladies two years because one doctor told me it was just my odor. My day to day just became horrible because I did not want to be around people because of the smell. It smelled like a rat crawled up there and died. This is nobodies natural odor. I got a new doctor. She listened. Took a swab down there. Looked under the scope and gave me pills for 7 days and I have been good. That happened back in 2004. Please stop douching!

I agree with using a different wash for different parts. I've done that for years. I'm gonna look for that razor though! I've never seen it before. There's a Spanish feminine wash called Lemisol a shower is not a shower with out that. I learned this from a friend, keep a large cup in the bathroom under the sink and in between taking a shower or if you need a quick freshening up wash up sitting on the toilet. Just use the feminine wash, rinse with the cup filled with water and have a small towel for drying up. It's great for that time of the month. ( if your not to icky about stud like that)

now that I'm older my body has gotten MUCH more sensitive to scented body washes. i stick to dove of Summer Eve's ... One thing I just learned is if you were to get a yeast infection, stick a clove of garlic (cut some slits in it) inside you. SOUNDS CRAZY!!! I WAS LIKE WHAT?! when I first heard it lol but it really works. It gone in a day or 2 depending how bad it is. Plus it's NATURAL!

I host hygiene and etiquette seminars for the young ladies of my college modeling organization and my talks are veerrry frank and graphic lol. But they love it because you'd be surprised at what they do not know or what they have never been taught. My routine is similar to yours but I just use Ivory or Dove unscented soap to cleanse the vaginal area and I also dust very lightly with baby powder (since high school), which was suggested by my doctor's assistant and I have kept that routine ever since (I'm in my 40s now); another alternative is baking soda. Now, as far as shaving I still use a depilatory for a quick, clean fix (the key is to follow the directions to the Tee), then I use a shaver to trim the actual vaginal area but I need to invest in the one you have girl lol! Thanks for sharing Mimi G...you are the best!!

Thank you so much Mimi for this video, we as women should always share information to help ourselves as well as others. My daughter and I both use the Summers Eve Feminine Wash. We also found a comparable one at Meijer's called Cleansing Wash soft petal for sensitive skin and it too is pH-balanced. I don't know whether you could use it but it smells and cleans exactly like the Summers Eve's Feminine Wash. Also the Dollar Tree stores carries a similar one. I have tried the Feminine Spray for Summer's Eve and also FDS (Feminine Deodorant Spray) as well and love them both. Family Dollar carries a brand of Feminine Spray that is also very good. I hope you try them!!! Again thank you for the video, it is both informative and well needed!!

Thanks for sharing this info, Mimi! I found the most amaaaazing epilator by Remington last year and I've stopped shaving. Yayy!!! I feel so free! I use the epilator on my bikini line and there is a shaver attachment that I use to trim everything else. I've used Summer's Eve in the past, but now I use Nubian Heritage soaps and although it's said that soap shouldn't be used "down there", I like it just fine. I currently use the honey and black seed soap. I am very sensitive and I've had no issues. One thing that I like to do is keep a bottle of water by the toilet. I use it to rinse myself after I go to the bathroom, then I wipe. I feel soooo much fresher when I do that. Good ole h2O, and it's free. LOL I like the wipes for during my period and when I am not at home. Can't be walking around with a rinse bottle all over the place. Haha.

AfroTee Since you rinse yourself with water down there, you might as well just get a "bidet." Buy it off amazon, or get it installed by your local repairman. It's an amazing device that's like a jet spray, and it literally cleans your "down there," parts. No hands needed, just the device. It's sanitary, and that's what people should be using, instead of toilet paper which is not the healthiest thing to use since it can make you more prone to urinary tract infections and hemorrhoids. Good luck, hope I helped you in some way.

Thank you MimiG for all you good tips. I have tried these type of products and stand by them myself because we as women need take care of our southern goodness. In regards to shaving I must admit that I am not a hairy person in general though, so I have little to no leg nor arm hair; and under my arms I just have fuzz that I do shave. In my southern goodness I usually just trim away the excess and not fully shave and that has worked out fine for me. Oh yeah, don't forget the water ladies, it's important.

The Foil did nothing I'm talking removed nothing after using the trimmer. The exfoliated felt great but let's see if it keep the ingrown hairs away. So um... I love you! lol Thanks for being open about things that are natural :) I actually prefer to wax downstairs so I started making sugar wax at home and giving myself a Brazilian... It wasn't pleasant the first time but it gets easier and the results last so long. I love it! I will be looking into the Summer's Eve wash and that's such a good idea to bring the wipes along with you. Also super great idea with the exfoliating brush. Gotta get one of those!

I love their products. I keep the wipes with me all the time. We do need to inform our young ladies because it's needed. I go in the restrooms after people and the stinch can take your breath away....not in a good way. My mom didn't have these kind of conversations with me so I had to figure things out for myself. I'm 51 and we didn't have the luxury of researching things on KZbin. I don't have children, but if I did, I would certainly inform them of these kind of things.

I honestly almost skipped this video, I love the sewing but got a little thrown off. I am sooooo glad I watched it. I hate shaving because of the 3 things mentioned, however now that I seen that shaving device specifically for that, that I am going to pick one up. I will get for my daughter too. Thanks!

Great video! I'm glad that there are women out there that are not afraid to make these sort of videos! As women I think that it's incredibly informative to know what other women use it's not something that we need to be embarrassed about we need to be informed! :-) Thanks so much for the advice

While it DOES itch when the hairs grow back, it's only a temporary thing. When the tiny hairs growing back rub against your panties or whatever you're wearing, the short length of the hair irritates your skin because the hair is stiffer do to its shortness. After shaving for a few months the itching stops because your skin gets used to it.

Thanks for the review. I am going to find the shaving kit. I also was using a men's shaving tool. I love s/e. I've been on a mission to increase my water intake because I dislike it so much. I have slowly increased it by using a straw and drinking almost a gallon in a day. I haven't had a soda in a week.

This is really helpful. I had no idea that feminine wash was to protect your ph., I thought it was for those who maybe had more odor. I've always just used regular soap and never felt the need for anything else but maybe it's healthier to use SE. Good video. Thanks.

TheLusciousFeminine After less than 2 hours after washing, it makes no difference to your skin's pH whether it was w an alkaline soap or something else. I'd expect even less of an effect on the pH of the vagina from ordinary washing w soap, because not much soap should enter the vagina (unless you're deliberately trying to get it in there), and vaginal secretions are so abundant compared to skin secretions. So a claim to protect pH is just a marketing gimmick.

You are so beautiful! Thanks for your insight and I definitely agree with the reasons for the products you use and the idea that women (mothers'guardians especially) should be open about feminine hygiene! I use personal wipes and Vagisil wash and i love them both! I have a Summer's Eve wash sample, so I'll give that a try sometime in the near future. Stay Lovely, stay blessed, Coley

Mimi you are awesome, smart and brave. We woman should be able to talk about our privates without being ashamed or embarrassed. I too use wipes for everything, I keep a travel pack in my purse a small pack in my car and a huge pack in my bathroom however they are baby wipes, either with aloe or Shea butter, I find them more discreet. Also there are two other things that I use that I saw you didn't. I advice you to go out and buy it you will love them: 1. WaterWorks - douche bag I use it everyday. 2. Emjoi emagine epilator - I use it every where I have hair that wish to remove. I use it once or twice a month, I like to be As for exfoliation I have the pro clarisonic so I use the body brush... Love love the clean smooth feeling that it leaves. Then for moisturizer I rub a tiny amount of 100℅ pure natural unrefined organic Shea butter it keeps my "you know what"soft, supple and smooth all day long, even if I use wipes throughout the day. Anyhow these are my tips.

great and relaxed video on a difficult subject for many. I just wish there was more information out there about how the vagina actually works and what bad bo actually is and why. The wash you use on your vagina as well as the wipes work so well because they don't strip your skin of the basic natural oils and its ph balanced. This is the fact sadly that most women don't know or understand. When you strip your outer skin of natural protective oils by over washing or harsh soaps it leaves it a perfect breading ground for nasty smelling bacteria. In the case of internally, robbing your vagina of healthy "good" bacteria (which kill off the bad bacteria in normal conditions), with chemical douches or even overdoing douching with plain water will again leave it open to the unchecked growth and multiplication of "bad" ( nasty smelling ) bacteria. ( A normal healthy vagina contains mostly good bacteria your body produces to kill the bad ones.) Anyone with this happening will recognise it by the road kill smell no matter what you do or what you use or how much you scrub, and will probably wind up at the doctor begging for a cure when your skin starts to just come away and all you can think about is the maddening itch. Ok im going to share a cure im betting almost none of you ever heard of now. Yoghurt! ... yes, I said yoghurt. Get natural set yoghurt with the active live bacteria, get a sanitary pad and set aside about an hour. wash with plain water if your realy raw first. slather that yoghurt on and even pipe it inside if its bad in there. put the pad and underpants over that and sit for about an hour. then squat in a bath and use plain tepid water to flush that out and your fingers only. Trust me this not only works but gives instant relief when you apply, will probably cure you in one to two days of doing this once a day AS LONG AS YOU DONT USE HARSH DETERGENTS . don't fear, you wont smell like goat cheese. It seems to have no smell at all..which is a relief after the roadkill trust me. And it beats the prescriptions that doctors gave me to cure it that did not even work. I often get the worst thrush on the planet when I take antibiotics despite using ph balanced body wash and this is basically because antibiotics kill off all bacteria in your body..bad and good.. leaving you prone internally to bad bacteria multiplying out of control at the end. Girls pass this on. its a gem of information that should be shared. Ps: eating natural yoghurt during taking antibiotics is also a great preventative. and if you like it eat it often anyway, so many benefits and a great safeguard.
