Brian, not sure how I missed this comment so my apologies for that! But thank you, and jazz is certainly an interesting genre and can be quite intimidating. At least it was for me, but somehow I found my way! Now I’m deep in the throws of collecting it and that is a whole different kind of journey hahah.

Great video, Trent. For me, Midnight Blue was the record that got me into jazz. If you don't already have it I strongly recommend it.

Hey Ilya, so sorry I missed this comment! I do not have a copy of Midnight Blue right now, but am most definitely on the lookout for one! Hopefully I’m able to find at least a Liberty pressing sometime in the future

Have some of those need some of those. I’m looking for the Fire Eater. I’m at 246 jazz albums in the collection.

I actually found the fire eater at an antique mall and in the shrink haha, how lucky? I want to add a lot more jazz. Been on a real big kick of exploring more albums as of late

Just a few weeks ago I picked up a copy of The Free Spirits LP “Out of Sight And Sound” on ABC Records (Sparton label in Canada). One of the earliest jazz rock albums with a garage feel featuring a young Larry Coryell. I’m on the lookout for that psych album of his. Haven’t come across it in the wild yet.

Was not aware of that band, I’m gonna have to check it out! But the Coryell album is killer, vocals are a lil eh, but the guitar is fierce!!

@@trentsrecords The Free Spirits record is a cool album. Very loose and raw sounding. The sax and flute playing might turn off some people but I think it works. Some nice blues numbers on it as well.

Awesome stuff! I got into jazz through rock guitar. Guitar jazz is definitely my favorite. Check out Pat Martino. East is my favorite of his. Just amazing

Pat Martino is great! I’m not as familiar with all his work like I am Grant Green, but the few albums I know are really killer, and I will check East out! Thanks Mike!

If you like Larry Coryel, check out Chico Hamiltons album The Dealer. He is on it. Fantastic

@@hubtunes9607 I’ll give it a listen, I’m familiar with some of Chico’s work so this sounds interesting

Great video man! I've been collecting jazz for like 25+ years, and have tons on CD. But oddly I have almost none of the titles you mentioned. (Well, maybe 1 or 2) Since my jazz collection is mostly CD it would be impossible to get everything all over again on vinyl, however I am continuing where I left off on getting stuff on vinyl that I don't have at all, like a lot of these you mentioned, since I'm focusing on vinyl now more overall.

Man, I wish I could’ve been collecting jazz back when the prices were much better hahaha. It definitely seems like it’s becoming impossible to get everything I want on vinyl, but I still have hope! Good luck with finding some killer stuff, cheers!

Great video , cut off and didn't get the advice tip. I am also only into jazz a couple of years (I am much older than you). I totally agree with everything you said.

Ahh man I’m sorry I didn’t notice that. Basically what I was saying is trust your ears, if you like an instrument find out who the player is and check out other albums that they’ve either led or been sidemen in and keep following that! But thank you, I love jazz, and have just been making my way through it. Hopefully you are too!
