*Binge read this entire series a few days ago and I’m obsessed.* The beginning gave Bleach vibes because of the protagonist entering a world of “spirits” similarly to Ichigo. Bleach ✅ The introduction of techniques and clans reminded me of Naruto. Naruto ✅ The combat system eventually became fleshed out and that’s what reminds me of HxH. Seriously that fleshed out combat system is clearly influenced by HxH. Beautiful stuff. HxH ✅ The out of the norm abilities like Nanami’s or Naobito’s. Like those abilities had me reading those chapters over and over again because my mind needed to grasp that the author is NOT going the traditional Shonen route of super powers. I have to pay real close attention to these abilities in this series. Reminds me of JoJo. JJBA ✅ I found it amusing that One Piece doesn’t have any noticeable influences over this series. None. Neither does Dragon Ball. This is a completely new age Shonen.

I binge read this series in 3 days. I caught up week before last week. I kept seeing it pop up, read the latest chapters and was completely confused by what was going on. Did some research but that only confused me even more. So I just ended up binge reading it. Amazing. Actually neck n neck with nen system for me. I enjoy these fights a bit more than HxH fights though. Could be that I’ve seen HxH a dozen times/this manga is fresher- but I’d like to believe that these fights are just THAT much more interesting. Only reason I’d take HxH powers in real life over JJK is because of the freedom to choose whatever ability in HxH. In JJK people are born with an ability and that’s it. The writing is top notch and I love the way Gege intentionally leaves out information to reveal later, without disrupting the flow of the series and keeping everything “believable” within the story arcs. What I mean: I Haven’t seen an ass pull yet in the story. “Black Flashes” are the closest thing I could think of and those are legitimate moments that happen even in real life. As was the explanation. Black Flashes happen when they’re in their groove/zone and everything is going right. In the NBA the announcer would say “he is on fire rn!” People actually dying keep this story unpredictable. Junpei would’ve become a main character if this was Naruto. Instead he died. Terribly too. And had it rubbed in his face at the very end before dying. This story wasn’t about him. He was reminded of that, and were the readers were reminded of that too. Even the main character gets punished when he over steps and tries to flex his main character status in the world. The series has even managed to do the seriously overpowered character justice and ground him in the story, in a believable way. I can’t bump over HxH just yet due to all the hard work Togashi put in for it and how strong the series has gone for over a decade. But the mere idea that JJK is thought about in such high regards is proof enough of its great writing and potential. JJK is definitely the next big thing. Like I said I binged it all. And Shone Jump was on a two week break when I finished. This series is definitely, and FINALLY, something I can look forward to weekly right alongside One Piece. One Piece has been my favorite since 8 years old back in 04. Oda has clearly placed fights on the back burner and tripled down on story telling in the past few years and JJK has given me what I’ve been missing in top tier Shonen: amazing fights. Epic fights. JJK is fulfilling that void One Piece has left when it comes to Battles taking place. And I gotta say I’m looking forward to the next JJK chapter over One Piece for that reason rn. Once I get my fill things might change, or once One Piece kicks off with the type of fighting that we’ve been waiting years to see and that oda has been building towards for years- that may change. That isn’t the current situation though. I actually hope Oda takes a page from Gege’s book. Gege doesn’t save every interesting character till the final big battle, and then lets them fight like in one piece. He gives us epic moments as great fights from those characters straight up. What he masterfully does, on top of that to keep them fresh in combat, is leaves out bits of information about their combat abilities. That way when the final clash happens we can still be excited watching them in action. There’s no reason we shouldn’t have gotten several samurai battles in wano by now. Kaido’s crew is so big we should’ve gotten several fights too. Sanji v Page 1 didn’t have to be off screened. Kiku vs Kanjuro (not saying it’s over) as well. JJK would’ve given us those fights, while managing to save some for later. Still got OP on top, but I’m looking forward to JJK as well from now on. I’m no longer checking for HxH news anymore lol. I’ve got something good to satiate that role now.

what really drawn me to the anime, was one: the animation, 2: the character development 3: the characters themselves 4: the music 5: the fights 6: kinda specific but the second outro just really connected to me, i loved how it was like they were filming eachother on phone and the look of it is so nice. 7: gojo 8: gojo with his hair down 9: gojo’s eyes, they had more detail than all of dbz, and really good character development, i loved gojo’s eyes, definitely on top 10 anime characters list. 10: the connection between characters, i really loved todo and yuji’s relationship, especially in episode 20, and megumi is such a good character. i feel like mechamaru was a really good character as well

I really like what I have read of the series so far, and as you said I see potential, but for me it still feels very superficial, it lacks a bit of world building, it never feels like a real school, or a real profession, and most of the time they face the same villains, I would like to see other types of missions with other types of antagonists, and I agree with most of the comments that this reminds me of Bleach, many of the curses look like hollows but without the masks, but bleach made you feel like this whole parallel world existed but you just didn't know it. But I have hope that they will start showing more of those details.

I quit the series after 15-20 chapters. I'd probably give it a 6 out of 10 stars because the plot parallels that of Bleach or Yu Yu Hakusho (mc becomes a part of a secret society that exorcises demons/dark spirits). The market is saturated with this general story idea. I kept reading it, looking for anything that would catch my interest. Something unique in the world-building or characters or storytelling. I just didn't find it. But the series seems to be going strong, so even if it didn't appeal to me I'm glad the mangaka has an audience supporting him!

If I'd describe Jujutsu Kaisen in a brief set of words, I'd say it's the final form of the Battle Shonen. It's a pure battle shonen, but with the not so great aspects removed and improved. It doesn't particularly excell in any area, but it makes up for that by being such a clean story in terms of execution and storytelling.

I like Jujutsu Kaisen, but I really cant find that thing to latch onto. Like, ya know, when you love a series, you have a part of it that you particularly love, whether it be the world a certain few characters or something that makes you go, "Yes! I LOVE this thing". It's a fine series, but honestly I can't find an aspect of it that really stands out to me as special. Which kinda surprised me because before I got into it, it was everyone just saying how amazing it was, how it was the next big thing, that all new gen shonen are about to bow down before it or whatever. Like, sure, this can be your favorite new gen shonen. That's totally fine. But, man did this get super hyped up to the point where I was kinda underwhelmed in the end. Still reading it week to week tho. Curious where it'll go. Plus is it just me or do a lot of the fights make zero sense most of the time? Like, damn are they cool to look at, but all I know in the end is that the winner pulled out some move I don't understand.

@@ritzkola2302 I should read the manga? The anime isnt out yet, dude. Don't know how else I'd have an opinion or be reading it week to week. But, anyway, I'll start with a classic example then. Gojo's abilities. You claim it to be thoroughly explained, yet no matter who I ask to explain it, they cannot do so without providing some video to explain it for them. You are right, that it does give thorough explanations and they are quite long and go into it deeply for each complex ability. But each explanation is so filled with flowery, poetic language and mathematical concepts, that it heavily limits general audience understanding. Now, obviously this isnt always the case. Many abilities are simple enough to understand, such as Megumi's stuff and I particularly like the concept of domain expansion. And it's not like complex abilities are inherently hard to understand. The weird hax abilities in Naruto, hunter x hunter, bleach, and so on all have instances where it has to give long-winded explanations and those always made sense to me (Bleach, a little less so, as it also has the tendency to use that flowery language i mentioned) But yeah, good on you, man. You understand the fights perfectly I guess and all else should bow to your brilliance. You have a fantastic day, you glorious human being.

That One Guy You should’ve mentioned Gojo. His abilities get further divulged and fleshed out as the series continues. Idk if you’re up to date in the series, because without being funny I’d say read the manga and you’ll eventually understand his abilities. But if you are up to date, and still don’t get it...his abilities are: (THINK MAGNETS) Attraction, Repulsion, and erasing matter from existence. I don’t find his abilities hard to understand at face value, it’s definitely more complex when diving into the intricacies of Red, Blue, and Purple. I completely agree. As for Infinity, at face value it means things slow down drastically when approaching him. Obviously he has the control over what slows down. It’s the way you wrote your post initially that made me say “read the manga.” There is no gigantic info dump in this series. Through narrative and combat, bit by bit the power system is fleshed out throughout the series. Even in the latest chapters were learned something new. I wouldn’t put Naruto up there for anything complex. Bleach had more complex abilities then Naruto- and that’s actually saying something because _Bleach._ HxH has some abilities that require an explanation but that doesn’t make them inherently complex. Of course I’m not dismissing complex abilities in HxH. I’d say JJK is in the same exact ship though. It’s just that Gojo’s ability is exceptionally complex intrinsically. That’s the exception to the rule though. Nanami’s ability falls into that “just requires an explanation” category. Naobito Zenin has a complex ability. I’d say those three are as difficult as it gets, as has been revealed in the series. But I could pick out an equal amount in HxH. I wasn’t trying to call you dumb, it just didn’t seem like you read the series up to date. Some of the things you said, I don’t believe you would’ve.

I'm watching the anime, and after 17 episodes i haven't seen anything spectacular. It feels like a generic shonen anime with nothing new. Does it get better later on?

i think the main highlight of the anime was its amazing sakuga and fight scenes, I also didn't like it that much. I think you should just watch it without using your brain, don't take it too seriously and you'll enjoy it haha

@@tristansantos1804 The animation is great, but apart from that the anime doesn't have anything else to offer. The story is boring, most of the characters are pretty dull. Their backstories were generic and extremely forgetable. I did watch the whole thing hopping that it will get better, but it did not. I started watching it because of all the praise and hxh comparisment which does exist, but in a bad way. Maybe the manga getts better later on idk.

@@98AnimeDude totally agree with you, the story wasn't progressing at all, character's backstory were pretty short and forgettable. the only thing that I liked about it was the junpei arc. overall, I enjoyed the fight scenes and amazing sakuga.

And knowing that the manga gets better (that's probably the answer to all the hype) gives me hope that the anime will be good too.

Bro read this manga called "Shin Angyo Onshi". Honestly u will be out of words. Its a masterpiece of a story. Insane art, very dark and gritty probably my top 5 favourite. This deserves way more attention. Amazing, deep characters, engaging, unraveling storyline and a very tragic, ruthless protagonist, tear jerking and a very sad ending. And pls read and review in ur channel.

Fun Fact: Gojo is voiced by Bruno Bucciarati’s VA, Itadori is voiced by Fugo’s, and Sukuna is voiced by Abbachio’s, so lots of Jojo representation in this series. I’m super hype for the anime and can’t wait to see it hopefully get a little more love

I think the HxH comparisons are mostly cuz of the power system. Some of the limitations the JJK sorcerers put on themselves are basically Nen limitations. The series is more like Bleach/Yu Yu Hakusho in terms of story with the early chapters having some Naruto aspects but quickly shedding them.

I've been reading Jujutsu Kaisen ever since the first chapter dropped on J-Box. I rate it 6.8/10 and it is only growing with it's rank. I think it works much better as a manga and I love the Star Plasma Vessel Arc and think it's the best arc in JJK.

Just marathoned the manga to the end of the Shibuya shitfight. Had my doubts at the start coming from the kyoto school fights (anime) but the author has a pretty unique plot that looks like its being consistently built upon. Gojo is dope, sasuke looking dude (main cast) is my new fave from what he made Sukuna go through

Im in the current arc rn. It's... I don't get the hype but it does have some tension I guess. It's pretty cool. I give the series (currently) 8/10. My favorite part is the fights. They're really fast and action packed. Love that.

ok the anime is going on my top 10 anime list. Attack on Titan Death Note Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure The Promised Neverland Jujutsu Kaisen Naruto Avatar the last Airbender (idc if this doesn’t count as anime, i respect it above cartoons so it’s here) Hunter x Hunter this is where my SUPER favorites kinda end, i’m waiting to see more anime that are really fun, so it’s kinda just random anime from here, that i just happened to watch and somewhat like. One Punch Man Assasination Classroom (this is one of the few anime that managed to make me actually cry, so it deserves to be on this list) it’s somewhat in order, i guess it is in order, but it really is hard to decide, so i’ll leave it like this, if you want to recommend any anime, i’ll take them and consider watching them.

Honestly the arts style is similar to Tite Kubo Bleach and the antagonist is inspired from My hero with is whole hand base power, some aesthetic, and that he is growing. Also the main cast are "students"

The hype surrounding JJK far outweighs the manga itself. Quickly dropped after reading the first 3 volumes. I felt the same way I did when first trying Black Clover - it wants to encompass so many typical Shōnen tropes, but does so in the most average way possible. All in all, it’s an overhyped, standard supernatural battle shonen

I watched jujutsu kaisen due to both the hype and cuz my interest was piqued by the premise and I'm a fan of the whole sorcerers, magic vs demons shenanigans and I wanted to see if its any good and lived up to the hyped. Three episodes in I'd say the anime is pretty decent, the whole concept with the jujutsu sorcerers and the Curses isn't new but I still found it pretty neat. However, the characters don't do a good enough job of hooking me in as for me personally I value the cast/characters of a story a lot more than the rest of the other components of a story. The world and story felt pretty generic, its practically a blue exorcist and Bleach rip off to be fair for me, as much as I like both series I just feel like jujutsu kaisen just felt like a copy of these two in a way and I feel like the show needs a bit more work in the originality department. All in all, so far I'd say the anime is simply just okay? Nothing special with it really imo and i think it's also quite overhyped :/ but I can most definitely see why people enjoyed the show a lot! Which is great! Idk if I'll continue watching it but Idk I may give it a chance and watch a bit more to see how the characters develop.
