The biggest inspirations for it are probably Bleach and HxH. Ichigo and Itadori are very similar Protagonists; Both are relatively "normal" highschoolers who get special powers one day & have a monster inside them that goes on a rampage time to time. The power system is pretty much a 1:1 copy of Nen from HxH.

Actually no, when I started reading Kingdom I got major One Piece vibes from the way its story progressed. Especially how Shin rises from a slave to a general and experiencing this journey along with him. There is a lot of worldbuilding in both, a lot of politics and wars. Major difference is that both have different themes of shounen vs seinen and probably the biggest one is that One piece world is of pure fantasy while Kingdom is more of a real world China since its based on real events. But still, I don't think I can say one is better than the other. Its just impossible to decide just based on quality of writing. One Piece handles overall worldbiulding better, while Kingdom has better politics and wars. When it comes to characters, I love both almost equally.

Two of my favorite modern shounens right now are Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man. When the Jujutsu Kaisen anime series came out, people were being toxic by shitting on it just because it gained a lot of popularity and I don’t want the same case with Chainsaw Man’s upcoming anime although it will likely be the same case because in the end of the day it’s the fucking internet. People somehow feel the need to hate on something that receives the hype and appraise it deserves :/ On the bright side, the Vinland Saga anime release didn’t really received much toxicity because it didn’t really gained a massive fandom behind it.

"chainsaw-man is better than Berserk" coming from a huge die hard CSM fan, that's not a fair comparison at all, i haven't read Berserk, but considering how long it is, and how much time has it had to develop as a whole, like, Berser is 11 chapters away from triple'ing the lenght of CSM, i just don't think it's fair to compare csm to Berserk, Berserk is obviously better, and Chainsaw-man is starting for as long as we know. I think both are masterpieces in their own right yet obviously not on the same caliver

@@kurekiller6070 I think it’s to do with the fact that we don’t like to identify with things that we find grotesque and disgusting subconsciously because of our love of things attractive. It’s just the Mangakas way of portraying rape as a disgusting act. Like the king of midland, when you first meet him, he seems like a decent man and he’s looks fairly normal, but (SPOILER ALERT FOR GOLDEN AGE ARC) when he attempts to rape princess Charlotte, the Mangaka puts some horrific detail into him, making his eyes bulge out, and making him look like his skin could fall off at any second. Not to say that horrible acts can’t be done by attractive people, but specifically in berserk, the Mangaka does his best to vilify it through imagery and the appearance of the ones committing it.

First of all, nice video, I like this idea and it's a good way to summarize your take on different many different series all at once. Soooo I was thinking if you are ever going to review some shoujo and josei stuff like Nana or A cruel god reigns. You might be surprised? I feel like those mangas don't get as much attention even though they have some very good narrative qualities that shonen and seinen lack or simply go about in a different way. JJK has been high quality so far (anime only). My only gripe is that so far the entire thing has been powerscaling and fights, haven't really fleshed out characters yet. But for what it is I am enjoying it.

What people need to understand about extremely hyped up series like JJK or MHA is that the series are... average. I'm not saying they are bad, but they are not "top-tier" shows like many claim. They are good enough to have a cohesive plot and keep you entertained. What I would consider a top tier series is Attack On Titan, meticulously written story and world building, amazing character development, explores its concepts to a very high degree and the bonuses are the amazing art and sound design.

I disagree about the world building. The worldbuilding focused on Marley,Paradis, and Hizuru. The worldbuilding about the world is shown by a kid. They are a lot of interesting plot point such as ice burst crystal, Ackerman lore, Great titan War, the Eldian Empire that were dropped in favour of the rumbling. They are a few character and pacing issues. Other than that i is a wonderfully written series that I love with all of my heart.

i love jjk, the aesthetic, the characters, the music, it has so much personality and makes for such a fun watch. Definitely one of my favorite shows airing. However yeah, imo, it's not the greatest story telling ever but I don't think jjk is meant to be taken too seriously. Its just a fun show that doesn't go too deep into things the way some other works have but that's completely okay, its a different audience. Its a great series that will definitely be remembered for a long time. Ppl on twitter just hate things because they're popular

Here's my take on some of these comments btw (if anyone's interested): 1- Naruto's fandom is obnoxious and is everywhere, that's why some people hate the series even though it's pretty good. 2- About Monster, without coincidences any story's pacing would be painfully slow, also when Tenma's whole journey is about chasing Johan he's bound to meet people involved with him, that seems consistent enough to make these coincidences believable. 3- What's wrong with nostalgia? Anime and manga improved a lot throughout the years, it's unfair to expect DBZ to live up to today's standards without taking its legacy into consideration. 4- If the commenter meant Netflix's Death Note is dog crap I'd agree, otherwise they don't know what they're talking about.

Regarding the Kingdom vs One Piece thing. I'll say that neither is better than the other. For me, its literally impossible to give an objective answer which one is better and same with Berserk, Vagabond, Jojo etc involved in the equation. At that high level it becomes a matter of which one suites your taste better. Also, both have their strengths in which they are unmatched. If someone says that Kingdom has better world building than one piece, sorry I'll disagree. But when it comes to over all politics and story progression, also the wars. I'll definitely give Kingdom a point over one piece easily.

Day 2 of recommending The Masked Man To Love-Ru Personally one thing I really like about the series is that the Devilukians are just Sayjins. If the guy writing it ever came back to it I'd love it if the guy focused on Lala's Dad and everything leading up to the galactic war. It would probably make for a good shounen and the guy who made the series is doing a new shounen manga at some point so it's not out of the question.

You need to read/watch (only first 3 season and 4 part 1) Haikyu!!, I didn't know you hadn't read it. It's my favourite anime but I've read a few volumes of the manga and it's on the same level. IMO it has great character development, animation and I've been sleeping on Slam Dunk. If you read Haikyu, I'll read Slam Dunk.

I’m finishing up Punpun right now. The good vibrations arc hasn’t finished yet for me but I agree it’s been a little meandering. None of it has translated into big story moments for the characters apart from maybe Shimizu and far too much time has been spent on it. I hope it actually pays off. The only criticism I can give of the series is that a lot of times it feels aimless and some character decisions don’t really make much sense to me. I guess maybe life’s just like that.

CSM is one of the best ongoing shonen manga currently but there's this dilemma that it seems to resemble seinen to a high degree and there're many great seinen manga I'll rate higher to the point that it becomes an average action seinen, imo. It definitely scores high among the other well known shonen jump series, but is that a fair comparison when it heavily draws from seinen elements to the point I could classify it as a seinen (with comedy genre included if that's a thing). For all intents and purposes, CSM occupies a controversial spot and could very well be called a genre of its own.

I'm only 65 chapters into JJK (started 2 days ago) and it's been all over the place so far. I thought the first 35 chs were really phenomenal but the entire kyoto/tokyo arc was like a 3-4/10... it seems to be picking up again though. I want to see it do well and it definitely has a lot of potential thus far. I'm also hearing alot of people comparing it to HxH (which I disagree with) but lowkey I'm getting heavy early Naruto vibes from it.
